She lay in bed in the room she had been shown to by a servant, wondering where he went. She hadn’t seen him since Sesshomaru took him away. She knew that he couldn’t leave her, the ritual prevented it, so she was completely puzzled as to he could be.
She sighed and sat up, looking around at the room. It wasn’t very big and didn’t have much in it in terms of furniture. The bed, an armoire, and a desk were the only things inside. She guessed that the more extravagant rooms were being occupied by the more prestigious guests.
Even still, she was still glad to be here and she would make the most of her stay. But in the meantime, she was still worried about Inuyasha. Knowing him, he was probably fighting with his brother over some trivial matters, he had been known to do it before.
She knew almost everything that happened during the hanyou’s travels with the girl from the future, the demon exterminator, the kitsune, the monk, and the fire neko. She had spent many nights following them, hiding her presence and masking her scent, and hating the miko even more.
She remembered the nights when the miko would try to get close to Inuyasha and it angered her to no end that she would dare to do so. Then there were the nights when she had watched Inuyasha watch the miko with love filled eyes or when he snuggled up beside her after she was asleep.
When they were close to getting into a more intimate moment she went into the forest and made her presence known, knowing that Inuyasha couldn’t refuse her call. And when he came, she always knew that the young miko followed him to see what they would do. It was at these times that she always took her control over Inuyasha for granted and kissed him or something else like that.
There was one time when this didn’t work and she had to resort to more drastic measures. Of course this lead to her having sex with Inuyasha on the forest floor, but she wasn’t complaining. The miko didn’t say a word to anybody for weeks after that and she had been pleased.
But for now she would just sleep and wait for her precious hanyou to once again return to her like the lost puppy that he was. She fell asleep with an evil smile on her face, thinking of how she controlled his every move, how she controlled his life.

He flew over the landscape, taking in the minimal changes it had gone through since he had been gone. He had passed the wall on the border of his territory that the foolish humans had constructed to protect them. As if a mere wall could protect them from demons, humans maybe, but not demons. He was headed east to his old home where his most loyal followers remained. Ever since the fiasco in Japan, many of his supporters had fled in fear of being punished for being associated with his person. Only a couple hundred still remained loyal to him. It was thanks to his late great father that he even had these followers.
‘The cowards, running at the first sign of trouble. Well they won’t be running for long for as soon as the sword is in my possession as it promised, they’ll come back to me begging for forgiveness.’ thought Menomaru as he continued on his journey.
When he was sent to hell by the miko and the half demon, he had been ripped from his physical form and had been reduced to his soul. But the transformation he had undergone to make him stronger thankfully affected not just his body but his soul as well.
Though he was stuck in his previous body, he held the power he had obtained from his father. Though sometimes he had fits when the power would try to escape the weak body to find a new host, but he managed to restrain it. It was only a matter of time before he was even more powerful than he had been before he died.
But right now he was going to focus on his part of the deal; gathering the Chinese army and training them. This for him wouldn’t be a problem since he was so well known in China, and it was his homeland. Everybody knew of the great moth demon clan and respected them. Respected or feared them.
Menomaru didn’t need people to respect him, in his opinion, fear worked just as well.

‘At last, I have found it. It is still as perfect as it was the day I died too, how fortunate.’ she thought as she picked up the mirror and reveled in how pristine it looked after being cracked and then shattered.Immediately after she picked it up, she felt a surge of power that coursed through her entire being, making the sensitive hairs on the back of her neck stand up straight. Her aura flared and crackled with the new, yet familiar energy that was fusing with her youki.
Once her aura died down and her youki receded back into her body, she chanted a spell and disappeared into the darkness. Time and space swirled around her as she traveled to the realm of night. She arrived soundlessly and looked around. It was the same as when she lat saw it.
It looked like the current Japanese landscape, aside from the full moon that shone all night and day, and the permanent shadows that haunted the land. Though the full moon shone, it’s light did not reach the ground. So the land remained in shadow and darkness all the time.
Also here the human race did not exist and demons reigned supreme. Most of the youkai that lived here were or the dark element and if they weren’t their souls had been consumed by darkness. In the realm of eternal darkness, nightmares, and dreams, the hearts desires were granted and chaos was a part of the daily life routine.
She glided through the dark forest, magenta kimono billowing behind her in colorful waves, as she hade her way to her castle. She approached to lake in which her castle used to lay and held up the mirror. She started to chant and the mirror started to glow along with the lake.
As she chanted, the lake was sent into an onslaught of giant waves as the once fallen castle began to rise. Her castle here was ten times bigger than it had been in the mortal world. The mortal world put restrictions on the dark power that she used, therefore the spells she used were only half as powerful as they should be.
But now that she was back in her own element, she could go all out and not have to worry about upsetting the balance of the universe. The castle stood in the center of the lake, dark energy radiating off it in almost tangible waves. She floated just above the surface of the water, causing little ripples when her robes touched the surface.
When she reached the castle her sapphire eyes lit up with delight as she stepped onto the steps that lead to the doors. She ascended them without actually touching them and the door opened without her pushing it, as though it was awaiting her arrival.
She glided down the halls, passing her servants on the way who bowed and spoke words of praise at their mistress. She stopped at the end of a particularly long hallway in front of two double doors. They too, opened without provocation and she entered, the doors closing soundlessly behind her.
As she passed them the torches on the walls lit and revealed a hunched figure in the corner of the room. The figure looked extremely thin and had dark circles under dull eyes. Their skin was pale and sickly looking, and it looked as though it were stretched over the skeleton. The rags he wore hung from this malnourished frame.
Shackles and manacles adorned his wrists and ankles. His hair had lost its sheen and now tumbled down onto his shoulders in a stringy, tangled mass. Dirt clung to him like a second skin, turning his once tanned skin a dingy brownish color.
Kaguya smirked, it was a sight for sore eyes. She loved seeing others suffer and this boy was lightening her mood by the second. Kaguya made her way towards him and stopped when she stood directly in front of him.
“How are you? I hope you are satisfied with your accommodations,” she said in a sarcastic voice.
He just sat there, head hung, eyes lidded. He had long since given up talking since there was no one to talk to except the servants and guards that came and fed him twice a day.
“Ah, unwilling to talk I see. Well I think I have something that can change that. You see I came across two items while I was in hell that I think might interest you,” she said, arching a brow at him.
The only response she got was a slight inclination of his head to show that he had heard her. She had managed to pique his interest with these items and he was curious as to what they were. He felt his mind starting to swirl with life once again as his heart quickened from the normal pace.
A small sparkle returned to his eyes as he awaited what she would say.
Kaguya sneered at the boy. She noticed she had his attention and was pleased, it was going easier than she had originally planned. “These two items, I believe, might persuade you to do me a favor,” she said as she chanted something.
Two glass spheres appeared in front of her, bobbing and floating. In each was a pale blue sphere that would grow and shrink every so often. He looked at them with a blank face.
“These two spheres are souls. More specifically, two souls of people you once held dear.” She motioned to the one on the left,”This one belonged to a tajiya by the name of Sango, if I’m not mistaken, she was your sister was she not?” asked Kaguya her blue eyes dancing with twisted amusement.
He stared at her, his body numb with shock. She had his sister’s soul. That meant that his sister died. The mere fact that his sister was alive gave him the will to keep going, and now that knew she died, he felt empty.
Kaguya took no notice of his distress and motioned to the one on the right. It was bigger than Sango’s and glowed brighter, but still virtually the same.
“And this one belonged to the houshi Miroku. He had a strong bond with your sister, I could tell. It’s a shame that they had to die though. At least they got the satisfaction of dying together, so they couldn’t of been that sad,” she said with a sigh.
He knew Miroku. He had thought of him as the brother he never had in the short time he spent with him. Miroku was a wise, if not extremely perverted, and kind man with questionable morals. But no matter what he was faced with, he always managed to face it with a smile or a kind phrase. He was dead too.
It was almost too much to handle but Kaguya had said something about a favor so he decided to hang in for a little longer.
Her amused gaze suddenly hardened and she narrowed her eyes. “I have the power to bring them back if you so desire but there is something I want in return for my services. If you decide to accept my offer, you must return my robes to me. Also, you must bring me the heads of the half breed Inuyasha and the miko Kagome, is that understood?” she asked icily, her eyes now blue-black slits.
His eyes widened at her words. She could bring them back. He could see his sister and brother again. He could escape the living hell that was his life and start over again. That’s all he ever wanted, even while he was under Naraku’s control. But it would mean hurting the girl and man that Sango had spoken dearly and highly of. He’d just have to find a way around that when the time came.
He couldn’t let this opportunity pass, so he weakly shook his head to clear all ill thought from it, he knew full well that the chances that he would actually see his sister or brother again were almost nonexistent, but he had the knowledge that they would be alive and safe and that was enough for him.
Kohaku nodded his head in acceptance and Kaguya chanted something and the two souls vanished. Her plan was working perfectly, now only a couple of things remained until she could report back to Yokoshima and then she would be all powerful.
