In a room in the back of the one of the most expensive penthouse apartments in all of Tokyo sat a man and a sword. The man had dark black hair with an eerie green tint to it so that when the sun shone on it, it glistened like emeralds. His eyes were a deep, green almost black and his skin a lightly tanned porcelain.

He sat in a lotus position and faced the sword which was displayed in a reinforced fiberglass case with a steel frame. The jewel in the hilt of the sword glowed a bright pink as it conversed with the man, glowing a bit brighter when it grew excited.

Now it is strange that a man would talk to a sword, but this was no ordinary man, in fact, this was no man at all. In truth he was a darkness elemental youkai named Yokoshima, and the sword was named Sounga.

They were currently discussing the production of the new project that Feudal Arms Incorporated had recently began. At a glance, the major arms manufacturer looked like a normal company, but behind the scenes, it was much, much more.

Yokoshima had gathered a team of specially trained scientists specializing in quantum physics, archeology, physical science, biology, political science, and military science, and a number of other fields. They all played an important role in his master plan, which was reaching completion of its first phase.

“So have they made any breakthroughs yet, we haven’t an eternity to wait time is of the essence,” said Sounga as it flared.

Yokoshima shook his head and chuckled at Sounga’s impatience, the sword was truly amusing. “Calm down, yes they’ve made a breakthrough but it only lead to a dead end. They still have not discovered how to set up a portal that can blend or override the magic in the well. And they don’t know how to pinpoint the exact time and date that we need,” said Yokoshima as he tried to control his laughter.

“There is nothing amusing about this whelp! If we do not progress then the whole plan will be ruined and I’ll hold you responsible for it! If you don’t get those weak humans to work harder, then I’ll have your head!” said Sounga, shaking inside the case, aura flaring dangerously. “You’d had better fix this or -“

Yokoshima had, had enough, he would not be told off by a sword.”You forget whom you are speaking to, you pathetic excuse for a sword! Have you forgotten who released you from your hellish prison?! Are you so quick and desperate for power that you push aside the fact that I am your superior? Or do you just want to be destroyed and sent back?” he bellowed as his eyes flashed red and he punched the case, shattering it with his demonic strength.

Sounga clattered to the floor as Yokoshima stared down at it, some of his rage ebbing away at the sight. He didn’t particularly like the sword; it had too much of an attitude and it talked too much. Hell would freeze over before he took orders from an inanimate object.

Yokoshima stomped from the room, the glass crunching under his feet, and left Sounga in the darkness to fume alone. Sounga didn’t really like Yokoshima; he had egotistical issues, and he didn’t know how to take good advice when he needed it. But he was necessary to the plan if they were to succeed. Once the team of scy-en-tists or whatever they were found what they needed to, then he would be unstoppable.

But for now he had to wait until Yokoshima got his head out of his ass and fixed his case, because a sword of his power and stature should not be laying on the floor of a dark room, and it definitely should not have to be succumb to this kind of menial treatment. But as it was said before, he just had to wait because much to his disappointment, he couldn’t do a damn thing about it.

~*~ Two happy children ran through a field of flowers as they smiled and silently laughed, being watched by their parents that sat under a tree. They turned around and the girl, who looked just like Kagome when she was little, turned around and tapped the boy. The boy gave chase and so started a game of tag. It was short lived, as most games were with children, and they ran back to their parents. The boy that looked like Onigumo when he was younger, climbed into his mother’s lap and leaned back against her chest while the girl lay down next to her father.

Their parents looked at them and exchanged small smiles and spoke unheard words to each other as they looked down at their now sleeping children.
~*~

They broke apart, each heaving for air as they were brought back to the present and very physical realm. They looked at each other, searching their faces for any sign that what they saw had been real. After a few moments of silence, they embraced each other gain, this time out of recognition. Kagome sobbed onto his shoulder as he hugged her tight, whispering words of love and comfort into her hair.

A tear-filled smile broke out onto Kagome’s face as the realization hit her. ‘He’s my brother. I would have never thought that this would happen, actually I couldn’t have fathomed this, but here it is. No matter what he has done, Naraku is my brother and I love him, but he has a lot of making up to do.’ she thought as she gripped him tighter.

Before this recent vision, they had seen many others. Some were when they were older and ones when they were younger. This had all opened up a long lost bond that had almost been extinguished, but through sheer luck and circumstance, had been rediscovered.

Naraku was shocked and ecstatic at the same time. The fact that he had a sister baffled him to no end, but he had a family. This girl that he had tried to kill on numerous occasions, now crying into his neck and hair, was his sister. The visions had proved it. They weren’t exactly in order from start to finish, but they had shown enough evidence that they were indeed related.

They had witnessed their birth and some moments in between that connected the dots. They would work out the details later, but now was a time to reminisce and reunite. ‘Even though this friendliness won’t last, it’s good to have somebody care about me, to love me for me, to not cower in fear from the mention of my name. Now I just wish she would love me outside of family conditions. But I want answers before I get too close.’ thought Naraku as he started to pull away from her.

Kagome seemed to come out a trance as he pulled away, and she looked at him in a new light. Actually, it was more of a mixed light really. Part of her saw him as a cruel being with no emotion as another part of her aw him as a much loved and missed brother that she felt was her other half.

Realizing she was staring, she blushed and turned away, too embarrassed to look at him any longer. Too embarrassed and too confused. Apparently, he felt the same way because he had put on his traditional smirk, but now she could see the emotions that were hidden beneath it.

“Miko, it seems we have something in common, but that does not change the fact that we are sworn enemies and you will pay for hat you put me through,” he said as he brushed the dust from his clothes.

Kagome couldn’t believe what she was hearing. After all of what they went through in the past couple of hours, he was still the cold, arrogant, asshole that he was before. ‘After he held me like that, after all that we’ve shared, after the bond was reformed, he still doesn’t care!’ she thought as she grew steadily sadder and angrier.

“That’s it?! That’s all you’ve got to say?!” she cried as she struggled to restrain the tears that were threatening to fall.

Naraku looked at her, hurt that he had hurt her so much, but he just couldn’t afford to get past their actual past. The past that included shard hunts and battles and attempted killings, those were things that were still fresh on his mind and he couldn’t get past them.

“Well?” she said, exasperated.

“I have nothing left to say as of now but I will, soon. When we get back to the palace, look for me at once and we will discuss this sudden turn of events.” and with that last statement he took off into the breaking dawn.

Kagome was confused. ‘He said at the palace, what palace? The only palace that he could be talking about that we’re both staying in is . . . oh shit.’ It dawned on her that he had been one of the guests at the festival Sesshomaru was having, but which one?

She pushed the thoughts from her head as she looked around for Seshomaru. The last time she remembered seeing him was beside her when she was trying to control the power, which she still didn’t know why had surfaced all of a sudden.

She heard a crash and a shout and another crash and some more shouts. She turned around and saw trees flying everywhere as a blue light knocked them aside like blades of grass. Seconds later, a yellow flash went towards where the blue flash had originated from.

She couldn’t be gone for a second with them fighting, although she was pretty sure Inuyasha had started it. She started to walk toward the battle arena that has once been a forest when her mind registered who was there. Inuyasha. Inuyasha was there. She wasn’t ready to see him again.

‘I can’t see him, not right now. If I see him now then something bad will happen just like last time.’ She stopped and thought some more, and decided that Sesshomaru was more important at the moment and broke into a run for the forest. When she got there, she almost screamed.

In the middle of a decimated clearing were Sesshomaru and Inuyasha at each other’s throats. Tetsusaiga was stuck in a nearby tree trunk and that wasn’t good. She stepped closer and noticed that Inuyasha had already transformed. She followed the arm that was attached to Inuyasha’s neck to reveal Sesshomaru, a very angry Sesshomaru. His eyes were flashing red and his features were already starting to morph. She had to do something and fast.

“Stop it you two! You can’t do this to each other, you’re brothers for god’s sake!” she cried as they continued to fight. Neither of them seemed to notice her presence because Inuyasha just buried him claws into Sesshomaru’s back as Sesshomaru’s claws pierced to soft skin of Inuyasha’s neck.

She grew desperate. If this continued then both of them would die and she couldn’t afford that. If they died, either one of them, she wouldn’t forgive herself.

“Inuyasha think of Kikyo,” she screamed,” think of Kikyo and how she would feel if she saw you like this. Do you really want to leave her alone?” ‘Like you left me alone.’ “Do you really want to put her through that kind of pain!?” ‘Like you put me through.’

Inuyasha ignored her as he snarled and dug his claws deeper, Sesshomaru’s blood running down his arm. ‘It’s not working and I can’t hug him because they’re too close together and Inuyasha is the one on the ground, so it’d be impossible anyway.’

She looked at Sesshomaru, he always was the rational one. Maybe he would listen to her reasoning.

“Sesshomaru! Please come back to me, come back to me and Rin and Jaken. Don’t do this, there’s no point. Don’t leave Rin alone, don’t leave her alone without a family. Rin will miss her father Sesshomaru, you’re her father!” she yelled, tears streaming down her face.

He seemed to pause and turned his head slightly in her direction. If Kagome wasn’t so scared then she would have done victory dance. “She’s already lost her father once, don’t make her go through it again.”

‘Rin..... father....my Rin.... girl threat?... no...friend... scent familiar.... girl scent familiar....girl name...girl name Kagome....my Kagome... mine.’ Thought Sesshomaru as he looked down at the person currently in his grasp. ‘Boy... threat... threat to my Rin.... threat to my Kagome.... kill threat... Now!’

With that he removed his hand from his neck and was about to plunge it into his chest when he felt a pressure from behind him. Through the metallic smell of blood and dirt and the salty scent of tears, he smelled sunlight and water lilies.

“Sesshomaru please stop. Don’t do this, think about Rin, think about me. Think about me, Kagome.” she whimpered into his back as she hugged him. She hoped that this worked.

‘Kagome sad... mate is sad.. I make mate sad... must help mate.’ thought Seshomaru as he turned away from Inuyasha to look at the distressed onna hugging him from behind. He instinctively wrapped his only arm around her waist and held her close, wanting to drown in her scent.

“Ka-go-me?” he asked shakily looking her in the eyes.

Kagome looked at him, incredulous that he had remembered her name and was hugging her on his own free will no less. She was shocked but gave him a shaky reply. “H-hai it is me, it’s Kagome.”

He seemed to be struggling withe words that he spoke. “Kagome sad, why Kagome sad?” he half said half growled as he rubbed comforting circles on the small of her back. He growled deep in his chest, making it sound almost like a purr, and it traveled through to Kagome’s body and sent shivers of pleasure and shock through her.

She wanted to answer him, but she couldn’t answer herself. ‘Why am I sad?’ she mentally asked herself. ‘I know that I’m scared for him, and Inuyasha, but why am I sad? I should be sad at the fact that Sesshomaru almost killed Inuyasha because despite what he’s put me through I still love him with all my heart.’

‘But then again I didn’t really feel any pity for Inuyasha just now, actually I really didn’t feel anything. It’s like when I look at him I just feel empty. But when I looked at Sesshomaru and his wounds, I immediately wanted to comfort him. But I should still love Inuyasha right? He never said he didn’t love me, Kikyo took him away before he could, so maybe he does love me.’
thought Kagome as she started to smile.

‘If he did love you then why did he leave? Last time I checked, KIkyo didn’t send for him or whisk him away with her, so he apparently did it of his own free will. True he never said he didn’t love you, but on the other hand, he never said he did.’ said her self conscious.

Kagome chose to ignore this comment and just relaxed into the warm embrace Sesshomaru had willingly offered her. It was when she snuggled into his tail that she was bombarded with an array of pleasant and disgusting smells,

A metallic one, which was obviously blood, hung thick around him along with earth and sweat, but underneath those was another one. This one smelled of a forest after a thunderstorm and had a hint of a cinnamon like attribute to it.

‘God he smells so good.’ she thought as she let out a contented sigh and snuggled deeper into his fluffy tail. Sesshomaru slowly started to transform back into his humanoid form and when he was done, he saw that he was holding Kagome in a very intimate embrace. He also noticed that she has burrowed into his tail and was tickling it when she breathed.

Because he had so much control he suppressed the urge to laugh before it left his subconscious. His first reaction was to push the girl away, but he found that she had him in a vice like grip and couldn’t without disturbing her.

‘How do I get myself into these situations? I should not be in such close proximity with a human, it is demeaning and completely against this Sesshomaru’s standards.’ thought Sessshomaru as he grew slightly agitated that she had yet to let go.

It struck him that what he just thought was wrong because Kagome was now a demon, but he still looked at her as the human girl he had met while trying to get the Tetsusaiga. But his beast readily accepted the changes and now found her almost ten times more irresistible than she was before.

Somewhere deep inside of him he was enjoying every moment of the hug as much as she was, or as much as he thought she was. Unbeknownst to them, a certain hanyou had been watching the whole exchange and wasn’t the least bit happy about it.

‘My mate!.... only mine!.... no touch her but me.... Die . . . threats to mate . . . a kill threat . . . now!’ thought Inuyasha as he lunged for Sesshomaru, claws extended ready to kill. Before either one of them could figure out what had happened, an ear shattering scream pierced the dawn.

Claws came in contact with flesh, blood spurted from wounds, strings of curses followed. Red eyes immediately went back to gold and gold eyes immediately went back to red. An indigo clad figure slumped to the ground, clutching the junction between their neck and shoulder, tears squeezing out from underneath tightly shut eyes.

Sesshomaru was in front of her in an instant, snarling and barking at Inuyasha, who stood there with wide eyes that were rimmed with tears. Sesshomaru rarely cursed at anybody unless they had crossed the line. He rarely lost his composure unless somebody crossed the line. Well finally somebody had crossed the line, not only crossed it, but completely ignored it and kept going.

“What the hell is your problem you asshole?! Is causing her mental and emotional pain not enough for you that you had to resort to physical pain as well?” snarled Sesshomaru as he advanced upon Inuyasha, claws glowing green.

Inuyasha backed away, unable to accept he had just done. He looked down at his hands. Blood. They were covered with Kagome’s blood. “No. I couldn’t have. It’s impossible. No I’d never hurt her, not on purpose. It was an accident,” he stammered as he stumbled and fell backwards.

“Of course it was an accident, everything always is with you. You were an accident, so why would I expect anything more than accidents from you. But you never did answer my first question; do you like making her suffer?” he asked with a twisted smirk on his face. It was not of amusement or anything close to it.

This smirk was a front for the emotional turmoil that was going on inside, just beneath the surface. It was a cover for his true feelings.

He froze. He didn’t like seeing her suffer, so why did he do it? “N-n-no I don’t like making h-her s-s-s-suffer.”

“Ah, so you don’t enjoy making her suffer. Too bad the same can’t be said for this Sesshomaru. You see, I enjoy watching my prey suffer before leaving them to die a slow and painful death.” His claws glowed brighter as he raised his hand...
