A/n: After watching Inuyasha… for a long time I realized one big thing about it. Besides the feelings being portrayed as being something that is completely and totally real, another thing struck me. A lot of it comes down to the human heart. And I think that that is one reason why it strikes me so deeply. Because it's something true, and something real, and not something that can be replaced. It is something I truly believe in. And that's why I connect so deeply with those things.
And so, I dedicate this chapter to Rixii-chan, and everyone else who understands a certain something about the human heart. ChibiRin, who also realizes something real. And Brower47, who wrote something very deep to me. Inugrrl, who probably won't even see this. *laughs* Which is cool. She wrote something very personal to me, and she knows what it is and knows I respect it. *considers* There was one more… Ah yes. The author of `Possession'-Wheezambu. Sometimes there's certain things you feel, that you just can't get away from. GO READ THEIR FICS ALREADY, GEEZE ON YOU PEOPLE! At least, those of you who haven't. ChibiRin's, Wheezambu's, and Brower47's new CURSED. Got it? GOOD.
Time for replies!
Seiai-Chan: I'm so disappointed! It's not your fault though X.x!!! Not blaming you at all! I'm sorry about that. But, I hope things work out for you. That suxors…
ChibiRin-Chan: I luff you too! WAFF! Thanks for the celver part… as much as I tell myself I might be, then I go do something stupid like walk into a wall… I swear I do stuff like that… (I promise it got into my way!) And thanks for the compliments! <3 on you!
Rixii-chan: You're right as always. Bum
Brower47: Thanks anata. Thanks for coming and scoping me out. Sorry I left you hungry. Comer this one?
LadyWolf-san: I forget even what it was about… I was saying… *sweatdrop, falls over* How silly of me. Oh well. You'll find out later anyway, ne?
Inugurl27: I guess I shouldn't quit writing then if you would die o_o;…
Orlandolover: ?... I swear I'm not done yet… maybe not even close… I have no idea… We'll see. It'll wrap up on its own. And you know when it'll be done because I would have stuck a bit fat “OWARI!” on the end. ^_^. I promise.
89 reviews?! @_@! I'm flattered! I love you guys! Thank you!

Chapter XXIV: My Human Impression
Everything was dark… Inuyasha couldn't make sense of it. He felt a distinct hurt coursing through his body…
His blood was boiling. It coursed liquid fire through his veins. He couldn't see. And all that cut through him was a familiar voice screaming his name loudly like a foreign mantra. It snapped him back to reality, her call…
K-Kagome…
Cracking his eyes open, he saw the world through a tinted haze… and his body pulsed in response.
The previous heaviness his body felt seemed to fade away as his muscles burned like molten fire.
Slamming a hand against the ground, he lifted his body up and turned to face the dragon behind him that had threatened his life and forced the curse to once again take over his mind.
“Hmph… so his blood has awakened? Good! This will be more interesting!” the dragon dared mock him.
Lifting his claws to bare them in threat in response to the mockery, Inuyasha growled loudly. Voices above him spoke his name, but they were not of importance.
What mattered now was only that this dragon's blood be spilt as retribution for his insolence.
Rushing forward, Inuyasha leapt into the air and slashed the dragon's neck wide open, blood spewing out like a morbid fountain. It reeked and the coppery smell assaulted Inuyasha's nose, but he couldn't care less. It caused his youkai to scream out in triumph at the creature that dared affront his name.
He felt his muscles tense as he readied for another attack, until that accursed voice broke through his head… that same voice that woke him from his stupor. That called him forth into consciousness was able to reach his conscious mind that was currently subdued.
“Don't Inuyasha! Break the transformation!”
Inuyasha once more lifted his claws, not willingly ready to allow this dragon to go so easily without punishment.
Again, he leapt, goring open the other side of its neck. The crimson coated his claws and he snarled in anger. Loathsome creature.
He would have its head!
He laughed at the prospect, the idea filling him with unsaturated glee.
Blood…
“Don't act so arrogant, boy!”
Rearing back, the dragon shot a ball of concentrated energy at him. But it was easily dodged.
Though after the smoke cleared, it laughed quietly as if it were all too easy.
Inuyasha could only feel satisfied at the shock that quickly replaced that satisfaction as he once more cut it down, causing it to fall backwards.
Landing on all fours, he looked back to assess his work as the dragon fell against the side of the ravine.
He chuckled again… this was too easy.
It was… but…
There was something else.
Something different…
A different reasoning started pricking his mind, driving him to find a different way to survive.
He couldn't quite understand it.
This was the only way.
Tetsusaiga…
But he didn't need a fucking sword to kill the fucking beast! He could do it on his own, with his claws… covered in its blood, marking his territory as being the alpha, being supreme over that foul demon.
The reasoning became more demanding, more dominant… Tetsusaiga…
…and with it, came the pain… The recognition…
The numbing…
Tetsusaiga…
Fang…
His vision blurred, as he started his way towards the sword…
Blood…
…Tetsusaiga…
There… was no reason to fight that way…
But he longed so for the blood, to taste it, and destroy everything around him.
His rage, his thirst wanted to be clenched and drained away through destruction.
He reached out with a shaking hand, feeling his spirit pulse within his body… and the sword pulsed back, calling out to him… for him to take it.
I don't want to be sealed!
…Tetsusaiga…
“Inuyasha! You can do it!”
I WANT BLOOD!
Your true form… ruled by your dark heart.
“You bastard! Rampaging around thinking you're powerful?”
A bright light came flying at him from the sky, ready to decimate him on a whim… and all he could her was her screaming his name.
Inuyasha turned his head from the sunset that laid off in the horizon… slowly he brought the boat to the small pier, and turned to wait for Kikyou to come onto the pier as well with him… But to his surprise, she ended up tripping, and began to fall forward…
And ended up falling against his chest, as he braced her gently with the pole he had used to push them along the river.
And when she looked up to him… with such quiet, hesitant eyes… so different from the confident, sure woman he usually knew her to be…
He felt his defenses falling…
The last barriers he had up against her around his heart fell away without worry or cause…
And he dropped the pole, wrapping his arms tightly around her for the first time, to feel her mold her body to his own.
“Kikyou…”
He brought her closer, now more sure than ever what he truly wanted.
“…I'll become human. I don't have any reservations. I will become human…”
He felt her lift her eyes towards him, and questioned him quietly with his own namesake.
“And since you've been lonely all this time, I could…” he looked down upon her, watching as she pulled away gently.
“That's enough…”
She lifted her eyes to him, their depths, usually so solemn… now filled with such a soft light, so warm, so understanding through a past pain they both had shared for far too long…
“You don't need to say anything else.”
She began to lean toward him as he told her, “Kikyou, I want you to know…”
But she simply silenced him with a kiss. And he threw away everything he wanted to tell her, what his heart was bursting to tell her… to lean in and say with that what words alone could not.
And when he pulled away, sapphire eyes gazed back up to him in worry.
Kagome…
Her bright eyes filled with tears from worry… and the pain washed away once he realized what she had done for him. She had put herself in danger to bring him back.
And he threw his arms around her, clutching her precious being to his body.
Closing his eyes, he sighed, barely able to understand how she could be so reckless sometimes. For his sake alone.
…he smiled…
That was the way she worked.
Inuyasha opened his eyes, and was greeted by those familiar brown orbs that haunted him for so very long.
Gaping a little, Inuyasha stuttered, “K-Kikyou…?”
Nodding, her delicate hands came to caress his cheeks gently like a feather light whisper against his skin. His hands were like ice, devoid of warmth and her pale blue lips conveyed the ideal of death.
“Inuyasha… follow your heart.”
Inuyasha's eyes widened, and he felt longing course through him. Loneliness, regret… failure.
“B-but…”
She silenced him with a shake of her head.
“We didn't do it right. And you both didn't do it right. Now, now you need to get it right or both our souls will be going down this path of cursed destiny forever.”
Inuyasha felt his brows drawing together… an unfamiliar wetness grew in his eyes…
The pain he had been denying… years of repression, fighting to be the strong one when others couldn't be.
As ridiculous a notion, now… a voice of reason.
“I'm so sorry….”
But she simply offered him a gentle smile.
“You're still young. You have a chance. You have a human heart, as you always did. Use its strength and its softness… Remember… there can be no true happiness unless you know sorrow and longing. As sad as that is… it will only make you stronger. So be strong for her.”
Inuyasha nodded, allowing a tear to slip down his cheek.
He promised her… he'd protect her. And he had every intention of doing his best at it…
~~~*~~~
Inuyasha blinked somewhat, staring up at the ceiling… moonlight filtered through his blinds, and he looked down at Kagome.
She breathed deeply, apparently sleeping. He couldn't blame her… it had been a rough night. Glancing over at the clock, it spoke the hour to him.
Grumbling, he tossed an arm over Kagome's form and sighed.
4:07…
Hell, at least they didn't have school tomorrow.
Closing his eyes, Inuyasha allowed himself to fall back into slumber.
Right then, he didn't want to be pondering weird dreams.
Especially when they had girls with the same name as his psycho ex girlfriend.
Rubbing his brow, he buried his nose into Kagome's hair and frowned.
Wait…what…?
Especially when that girl looked a whole lot like Kagome…
“What the fuck…”
