Chapter 3: The New Curious and Disobedient Servant

~^^~

Kagome changed into silky white kimono and followed Rin into one of the gardens. According to Rin, there were five gardens. The one they went to was Rin's favorite. Kirara decided to follow them and sat on Rin's head as they walked around the garden.

The garden was pretty. Roses, forget-me-nots, and narcissuses bloomed everywhere even with the 2 feet of snow. Kagome saw that there were more white roses than blue and pink. The water fountains sprouted icicles instead of water. Frosted vines surrounded the large trees and rabbits hind under them. Kagome believed that the garden would look beautiful in spring.

“Come Kagome!” Rin said tugging her hand.

Kagome smiled and followed Rin to the buses that led to new roses. They picked a few of them as well as forget-me-nots and narcissuses. Kagome wondered what Rin did with all these flowers. She found out when Rin led her to the deepest part of the garden. They stopped at a small shrine which had a statue of a woman in front of it.

“Rin,” she started. “Who is that?”

Rin looked at the statue and smiled. “Mizu is Lord Sesshomaru's mother. Lord Sesshomaru steps on his servants that ask about her.”

Steps-“Has he ever stepped on you Rin?” She asked with concern wrapped around her words.

Rin shook her head still smiling. “Nope!”

Kirara hopped off of Rin's head and made a deep hole in the snow. All you could see was her small black ears. She hopped on the foot of the statue and mewed at it. Kagome looked at Mizu; she could imagine what Mizu looked like. Silver blue hair, a deep blue crescent moon on her forehead, and a magenta stripe on each cheek. When Kagome looked into the stoned eyes of Mizu, she saw a pair of violet blue, with flecks of gold and green, eyes, those kinds of eyes was rare, even in her time.

She felt Rin tug the sleeve of her kimono. She looked down at the small child who started placing the flowers she picked next to Kirara.

“Rin, that is so sweet” Kagome said and placed the roses she picked next to Rin's. Kagome bowed slightly and looked down at Rin who just rose from her bow.

“Lady Mizu is very kind, Rin's sees Lady Mizu in her dreams. Lady Mizu always has tears in her eyes. Rin has never found out why.” Rin looked at Kirara and picked her up. “Will Kagome play a game of tag with Rin?” She asked smiling at Kagome.

Kagome nodded. “Alright Rin.” Right after she said that Rin tapped her knee and ran off.

It felt like they were playing for hours, not that they ever complained. Kirara sat on a frozen tree limb while watching the girls play. They stopped playing when Rin spotted Sesshomaru. Rin giggled, ran to her lord, and hugged him. Kagome found it cute that Sesshomaru treated Rin like his own pup. Rin stopped hugging his legs and picked up his tail that was being dragged in the snow.

Kagome didn't like Sesshomaru's cold and emotionless golden eyes bore into hers, but they reminded her of Inuyasha's a bit. She lowered her head so her bangs shadowed her eyes. He turned his head to face Rin who had let go of his tail.

“Rin, go inside and eat.” He said. Rin nodded and skipped towards the castle.

“Miko,” Kagome looked up at Sesshomaru's back. ”Since you are here and your companions have no idea where you are, you shall serve me, I-“

Kagome cut him off. “Serve you?! Never! Not after all those many times you tried to kill Inuyasha and I, why would anyone want to serve a cold bastard like you?!” Kagome noticed she lost her temper a bit and wished she hadn't said those words.

Sesshomaru's clawed hand was wrapped around her neck and she was lifted in the air. Kagome gasped for air and stared into his eyes.

“A bastard?” He asked her and tightened his grip around her throat. “This Sesshomaru is not always tolerant. You shall serve me for another reason, for being that hanyou's wench, heed these words, I won't be easy on you.” He growled before dropping her to the ground.

“I suggest you hold you tongue when you have something rude to say or shout at me.” He said before leaving Kagome. “Meet me in the study after you have bathed, the scent of my brother irritates me.”

Kagome stood up, massaged her sore throat, and stared at the door which Sesshomaru had slammed close. Kagome looked at the distant figure of Mizu and walked towards the door. She opened the door and saw Kera.

“Come, I shall show you the springs.” Kera said and started walking down the narrow hallway.

Kagome looked down after Kirara who had rubbed her furry head on her ankle.

“Kirara, go back to the hut, tell the others I'm alright.” She said to the cat demon. Kirara nodded and ran back in the garden.

Kagome closed the door and ran to catch up with Kera.

Kagome followed Kera to the springs which was only a few rooms away from Rin's favorite garden. Kera left her with a robe and told her not to forget what Sesshomaru had told her. Kagome nodded as Kera left. She looked at the springs. Huge rocks surrounded it, bamboos stuck out in certain places. Water lilies floated around and she watched them.

She stripped out of her kimono and slipped into the water. She sighed when the hot water embraced her. After getting rid of the blood in her hair and the dirt off her arms with a rag, she grabbed the ointment that she saw and hoisted herself on the bank of the spring. She rubbed the ointment on her legs which was sore from chasing Rin. She slipped on the robe Kera gave her and held the silky kimono in her arms.

`I wonder what Sesshomaru would do if I don't show up' She thought while staring at the shoji door. She shrugged and decided not to show up. Kagome slid the shoji door open and walked through the halls. The looked that the gaunt demons were giving her freaked her out. An old female demon tsked her. Kagome wondered why and hurried to her room.

When Kagome entered her room she fell on the furs and buried her face in them. She blinked twice before falling asleep. Little did she know, the old servant that she passed by told Sesshomaru that she wasn't showing up. Sesshomaru didn't say anything; he just left the study and walked towards her room

Sesshomaru entered her room minutes later. He stared at Kagome's sleeping form and wondered `How does the hanyou get this stubborn miko to listen?' Kagome stirred and groaned. Sesshomaru crouched down and his face was above hers. A couple moments passed before her eyes fluttered open.

When Kagome saw his cold eyes she gasped and propped herself up on her elbows looking up at his indifferent face. Sesshomaru fiercely grabbed her chin and watched her wince when he sank his claws into her sensitive skin.

“So, you've decided not to come. Why miko?” He asked calmly.

“I don't follow orders from you.” Kagome growled. Sesshomaru just smirked.

“Follow my orders or else,” Kagome shivered when she felt his free claws crawl up her back then sink through the robe and her flesh.. “Your consequences with be worse than I intended to make them.” He let go of her chin and dragged his claws in her back down a bit.

His smirk widened when her eyes were shut closed tightly. He pulled them out of her back and wiped her dark blood on her right cheek. He stood to leave but Kagome's voice stopped him.

“Sesshomaru, why are you so cruel to me?” She asked wiping the blood off her cheek with the sleeve of her robe.

“You seem to not listen.” He said as his hand reached out to open the door to leave.

“Sesshomaru, just let me go, I don't want to serve you.” Kagome whispered.

“No, I said earlier that you may be of use to me. Once you have healed you _will_ meet me in the study, or would you like another painful experience wench?” He growled and turned to face her. “You do know I can give you pain that is ten times worse than what Inuyasha did.”

“How could Rin like a cold bastard like you? You do nothing but torture people!” She shouted and stood on her feet.

Once again she wished she hadn't said what spilled out of her mouth. Sesshomaru was in her face before she could blink. He backslapped her and she skidded across the room. She held her stinging cheek and the tears that threatened to spill.

“I told you before miko, hold your tongue if you have something rude to say.” He growled dangerously.

Kagome glared at him as he walked out the room. The tears she held back spilled out and she pulled her knees to her chest. She rocked and cried silently like she did in her dream before she came to the beast's castle.

“Kagome?” She heard someone whisper.

She looked up with a stream of tears running down her cheeks. Kera's deep red eyes stared into hers.

“You should've listened.” She said while tucking and few strands of Kagome's hair behind her ear.

“Why should I?” Kagome whispered and placed her forehead on her knees.

“Because you'll only get hurt. I should know, I never listened to my lord when I first came here. Eventually, you'll listen to him.” Kera said. “After you meet with my lord, come back here and I'll teach you how to control your temper, because soon, you'll be like Inuyasha.”

Kagome's head shot up after she heard the last sentence. “W-what?”

“I'll also explain that later.” Kera said and stood up. “Please meet the lord in the study after you have healed, your condition will become worse if he hurts you again.” Kera said before waving her hand in Kagome's face. Kagome soon fell asleep but stayed in the tight ball she was in.
