Chapter 4: The Problem

Kagome awoke and found it was dusk by the sky. She placed her hand on her cheek and rubbed it. She looked up when the mahogany door was pushed open. She sighed when Kera came.

 

“Did you expect that I was Lord Sesshomaru?” She asked. Kagome nodded.

 

“Lord Sesshomaru can be scary at times, but that is only if you disobey him.” Kera said helping Kagome up.

 

“Um, Kera, you said something about controlling my powers, what exactly do you mean by that?”

 

“It is not for me to say, I believe Lord Sesshomaru would know but, I don't think he would tell you. All I know is that you will be like Inuyasha as the darkness in you grows from your sadness, hatred, and fear.” Kera explained. “*But it only grows when you use your miko powers for them.”

 

“Oh, so, how did this start?” Kagome asked as she sat down on the furs.

 

“It started after you lost someone important to you, it happens to rarely any miko.”

 

Kagome looked down at her hands and whispered, “Inuyasha…”

 

“Ah, the young lord, he is the one you lost?” Kera said.

 

“I didn't exactly lose him, I just feel like I have. He was turned against me.” Kagome said. “How did you know about Inuyasha's problem?”

 

“Kirara” Kera answered.

 

Kera sighed and her little fuzzy black cat ears twitched.” Kagome, you have to meditate daily. It'll help you control your powers. Maybe next time when you are upset you'll resist the urge to purify someone near you, mainly Lord Sesshomaru. Have you had the urge to purify him once before?”

 

“No, not since this started, but, I think I almost purified Inuyasha.” She said.

 

“Oh, no you cannot purify him, were your hands glowing two different colors?” Kera asked. Kagome nodded. “You were just trying to help him, help him turn back, but since this is Naraku's doing, it's harder.”

 

“Oh, and Kera?” Kagome started while playing with her hair.

 

“Yes?”

 

“Um, the gashes on my back, that Inuyasha made, they healed after I fell asleep.”

 

“Oh, don't worry about that, it's only your miko powers. Now come, we have work to do.” Kera grabbed Kagome's wrist and pulled her out the room.

 

The two of them walked down a few flights of stairs till they entered the dining room. Everything was shining, except for the floor, which was extremely dirty. A few specks of blood, dust and lost of bones. Kagome gulped.

 

“Oh, don't worry; the bones were done by Ah-Uh. The blood too, the dust if from Rin, she is always dirty, even when it is the cold seasons.” Kera said. “Sesshomaru prefers to eat in his chambers. We have to wash the floor. That is what the lord wishes.”

 

“Great” Kagome mumbled.

 

Kagome's hands were pruned after they reached the middle. She asked to rest a bit and sat in the corner that was filthy. She nearly dozed off, but when Sesshomaru came in she froze. Kera bowed slightly while Sesshomaru glared at Kagome who was stuck in the small spot.

 

“Miko,” He called and watched as Kagome stiffened. “Follow me.” He said.

 

Kagome slowly stood up and followed him. The walk to where she believed was the study was slow.

 

“Pick up your feet miko; you're slower than that half-breed.” He said.

 

Kagome glared at his back and balled her hands into fists. 'Don't lose control, don't lose control…' She did not know why she was chanting those words in her head, but, it wasn't helping her hands glow. `Well, I guess I can lose control a little.' She let her fists glow dark pink and felt something grow.

 

Sesshomaru sensed it and looked at Kagome from the corner of his eyes. He blinked when her irises started to turn light red. He stopped and she bumped into his back. He growled silently. He turned his head and saw her irises change back to blue gray. He snorted and continued walking to the study.

 

`Okay, I think I should stop' She thought as the glow around her fists disappeared.

 

“Alright Sesshomaru, why do you want me here?” Kagome asked when they entered the warm study room.

 

“I am getting to that miko, do not rush me.” He said taking a seat in the arm chair with furs.

 

“Kagome.” She said, she started to hate being called miko. “My name is Kagome, not miko.”

 

“I will call you what I want.” He said his eyes boring into hers.

 

Kagome took a deep breath and stayed quiet.

 

“First off, you shall help Kera with her work around the castle; she is in need of a partner. Second, Rin needs a playmate, I don't trust any youkai. And third,” His lips curled into a cruel smile. “I want you as bait for my little brother.”

 

Kagome felt something break inside of her, and no it wasn't the wall that was holding her temper, it was the bridge that was full of hope for Inuyasha to be alright and return to her without being hurt by neither Naraku nor Sesshomaru.

 

“Wh-what?” She whispered.

 

“I never like repeating myself wench.”

 

“Y-you aren't going to kill Inuyasha…are you?” She asked.

 

“No, I have something else in store for him.” Sesshomaru said propping his chin on his knuckles.

 

Kagome blinked then looked down at her feet after feeling the tears threatening to come out. But she could not hide it from the taiyoukai. `Why is the wench crying? I haven't said I'll kill him…yet' He soon smelt the salty tears spill out her eyes. He gave an exasperated sigh.

 

“You humans are extremely weak.” He said closing his eyes.

 

“Excuse me?” Kagome asked wiping her tears away.

 

“I am not repeating myself.” He growled.

 

“Why do you hate humans so much?” She asked glaring at his calm emotionless face. “We haven't done anything to you.” Kagome nearly shouted. Sesshomaru opened his eyes and watched her to see if she said something amusing.

 

“You know very well the youkai are weak as well.” Kagome said then whispered, “You're probably the weakest.”

 

Kagome hissed when her back came in contact with the wall. Her hands were clamped on his wrist and she tugged at it. That movement only made his grip tighten around her neck. His eyes flashed red as he pulled her close to him, away from the wall. She whimpered when she heard his growl and hot breath near her ear.

 

“Care to repeat that again miko?” He asked. Kagome stiffly shook her head. “Good, and you should not tell me that you humans have not done anything to me.” He growled before throwing her back at the wall.

 

Sesshomaru glared at Kagome whose bangs shadowed her eyes. She went completely stiff, he wondered why. His eyes narrowed when she started glowing dark pink.

 

“Kagome stop!” Kera shouted behind the door.

 

Kagome's head jerked at the voice and the glowing stopped. Sesshomaru's tail twitched when she stopped glowing.

 

“Kera, come in here for a word.” Sesshomaru commanded.

 

Kera slowly opened the door and closed it behind her.

 

“You've abandoned your cleaning, why?” He asked as Kagome pulled her knees to her chest.

 

“I felt Kagome's aura change; I need to speak to you my lord.” Kera said.

 

“Very well,” He turned his back to them. “Tell me tomorrow, when the wench is cleaning.”

 

Kera nodded then knelt down and helped Kagome up. “Come Kagome, we have much to do.” Kera said as she and Kagome started to leave.

 

When Kera opened the door, the servants that were huddled around the door scattered away from it. Kera sighed then closed the door behind Kagome. They walked to the dojo and Kera turned to face Kagome.

 

“Kagome, I know it is difficult to control your anger when he insults you but do try harder.” Kera pleaded.

 

“I can't, he's so…Irritating! He's worse than Inuyasha!” Kagome exclaimed crossing her arms over her waist. Kera sighed and pulled out a necklace made of blue, black, and white beads.

 

“Lord Sesshomaru ordered me to give this to you. He said this is to get you in line.” Kera said placing the beads around Kagome's neck.

 

“How did this happen?” Kagome wondered aloud after Kera placed the beads around her neck. “I mean, I always use to get anger at other people, but I don't think it ever increased the risk of me becoming a killer.”

 

“No, it hasn't, it is just with Inuyasha, after being turned against you, you feel as if you are going to lose him, forever, am I right?” Kera asked and continuing after Kagome nodded. ”This has to do with the Shikon no tama. But, for right now, you need to stop using your miko powers when you are upset.”

 

Kagome blinked then tugged at the necklace. “Isn't what this is for?” She asked.

 

Kera shook her head. “No, that is for another purpose”

 

“Oh,” Kagome's hands dropped to her sides.

 

“Yes, well, Kagome, what you should do is think about Inuyasha when you are upset. It'll help a bit, but do not think about how he is now; it'll only make things worse.”

 

“Alright, I'll try, but it's going to be hard to do with that bastard.” Kagome said.

 

Kera's fingers went to her lips to hide her laughter. Kagome smiled then snickered.

 

“It is true; Lord Sesshomaru can be a bastard sometimes.” Kera replied.

 

“At least someone besides Inuyasha and I think that” Kagome said.

 

Kera smiled then asked Kagome to follow her to the Lord's chambers. “Now Sesshomaru wants his bed changed and his floors cleaned. If he comes into the room, one of us has to bathe him.” Kera said as they climbed the stairs with wooden bowls full of water.

 

Kagome stopped in her tracks and gulped. “B-bathe him?” `Okay, I am definitely not going to bathe him!! The only male I've ever bathed is my little brother! I mean, if I bathe Sesshomaru…words just couldn't describe it…oh the horror…'

 

“Oh don't worry; he never wants a human to bathe him no matter how pretty they are.” Kera said grabbing Kagome's hand and dragging her to Sesshomaru's chambers.

 

When they entered the room, Kagome stared at it in awe. The room was large. She could barely see what was in it till Kera blew at the unlit torch. There were lots of tapestries and furs around the room. Different colorful paintings were on the walls along with the tapestry. The two balconies were wrapped in frosted vines and a few flowers. In the center of the room was an extremely large silky black futon that was surrounded by fluffy furs.

 

Kagome blinked when her eyes caught a painting that had a beautiful female inu youkai in a lake. She slowly walked to the painting not hearing Kera's calls. Her fingers brushed against the painting and her eyes went blank before she fell on the floor, into unconsciousness.

Dani: *looks at her as if she is insane* ookey. *cough cough* by the way the line were Kagome says `the horror' I couldn't resists adding that, also you might notice the slight change in the words, my friend begged me to add some more Japanese words, she says they sound better than the English words… neway, REVIEWS!!!
