Chapter 7: Painful Flying
~^^~
Sesshomaru and Inuyasha stared at Kagome. The lake she was sitting in swirled with black and purple. The sobs and whimpers pained both inus' ears. Inuyasha stood up and wobbled towards her. His back throbbed as he moved.
“Kagome…” He whispered, then winced when she cried out in pain.
Large leathery black wings sprouted quickly and painfully from her back. Both of them stared at her in shock. Was she human?? Her painful sobs grew quieter. Her shoulders shook. Blood dripped from the leather wings and traveled down her back like rivers, making the black lake turn to a very dark red one.
Kagome looked up at the stubborn brothers. Inuyasha's face held sorrow and pain but Sesshomaru, his expression was emotionless as ever. She gripped her sides and moaned from the pain.
“Kagome!” He called running to her exhausted dream body.
He picked her up and held her close. Her blood smeared on his chest and soaked his hakama. He glared at Sesshomaru as he continued to caress her soggy hair.
Kagome's form started to fade. “She's waking…” He whispered.
Her body kept fading and fading till she was gone completely. Inuyasha dropped his arms and glanced at his half brother. “Shouldn't you be leaving?” he snarled.
Sesshomaru just blinked at him before he too disappeared. Inuyasha sighed. He was alone again and for some reason he wanted it to stay that way.
“Do you really wish to be alone Inuyasha?”
Inuyasha looked over his shoulder and stared at Sesshomaru's mother who held the memory of her son.
“Yes, it seems all I ever do is cause trouble, and end up hurting others that I never mean to.” Inuyasha whispered.
“You know Kagome would not ever want you to be alone.” Mizu said before she stood next to him.
“I know” He muttered with a smile grazing his face.

Sesshomaru's nose wrinkled from the slightly heavy scent of blood. His eyes blinked open. He could no longer feel the softness of Kagome's stomach. He lifted his head and stared at the puddle of blood in front of him. His eyes followed the trail of bloody hand and footprints. His golden eyes stared at the black wings that were folded and the petite form of Kagome. A red kimono, she must have found earlier, clung to her body as a baby would to its mother. He could hear her coughing and sob, while she rested her face in her arms that were on the stone rail.
He could see the blood begin to puddle around her. Standing up, he walked to her. Kagome turned her head to him when the sound of his light footfalls grew louder. Tears were streaming down her cheeks. She turned her head back to the rising sun and ignored him.
Sesshomaru kneeled behind her and slowly sliced the back of her kimono open. Her newborn wings had torn a great deal of her skin off along with tissues. He ran a finger gently down the back of one wing and watched it twitch. He brought two fingers to his lips and licked them. He ran them on a broken tissue and watched it heal very slowly.
“Leave it” She whispered. “The wound will heal in a few days.”
His eyes narrowed at her head. No, his miko was not going to get a few days off just because her back was in pain. It was going to heal now! He wrapped an arm around her stomach and pulled her towards him, ignoring the blood ruining his silk kimono.
He heard her gasp from pain and surprise. He could easily sense the fear oozing from her body and smirked. He closed his eyes and stared to lick the large wound. He shuddered from how delicious it tasted. He loved the feeling of her miko blood starting to surge through his body.
Kagome started to relax, but she didn't like the feeling of his tongue lazily sliding over her back. She began to struggle when a disturbing but pleasurable thought of him dragging his tongue over her whole body. But Sesshomaru's growl stopped her. So, she sat obediently in his lap as he continued to heal her. Minutes later he stopped. She let out a small `eep' when her bare back met his bare chest. She gave a slight shiver from how cold he was.
Kagome froze when Sesshomaru's claws ran through her tresses. He nuzzled her neck and inhaled her scent. His brother's scent wasn't mixed with it, for it had been washed away weeks ago. He grabbed a handful of her hair and gently pulled it to the side. He stared at the place where her shoulder and neck met; the place where a demon's mating mark would rest if she ever mates with one. `She will mate with a demon.' He thought as his lips kissed that spot. `Who? You or your brother??' a small voice whispered. `Me' he growled kissing it again. He made open butterfly kisses up and down her neck.
`Yes, but what if she doesn't love you?' it asked. Sesshomaru listened to his little miko mew as he licked around the shell of her ear. `Then I will make her love this Sesshomaru'
He let go of her hair and ran his hands up and down her arms, trying to warm her up. `Yes, she will begin to love you if you get rid of your brother.' Sesshomaru stopped his kisses at her jaw line.
`If I kill my brother she will be heartbroken…' he placed his chin on top of her head and crossed his arms over her chest and held her tight to his body. `And why is that?' the mischievous voice asked. Sesshomaru growled. `Because she loves him, no matter what he is or does.'
“Sesshomaru?” He looked down at her still growling.
“What is wrong?” She asked turning around with difficulty since his grip was tight.
His growling lowered its volume, but she still thought something was wrong. She placed a palm on his cheek. His growling turned into a purr. He placed his large hand on it and held the small hand in place. He looked at her through half lidded eyes once again. Her face held worry. `How could humans have so much emotion??' He wondered.
“Will you answer my question?” She asked. He blinked then shook his head once. He would not speak of his jealous thoughts.
“Okay.” She smiled and turned back around and rested in his arms.
His cheek replaced his chin and more thoughts came to his mind. Mainly about his mother. She would hold him like this when he was injured, which was nearly everyday because he ran off to fight other demons. She would whisper soothing words to calm his crying. He was angry at himself and her when she wasn't there calm his crying after that terrible incident…
His eyes closed tightly. `Not now!!' He screamed in his mind. He never wanted to remember those horrible memories. He roughly grabbed Kagome's shoulder and tossed her out of his lap. Kagome landed hard on the floor. She looked at him with fearful eyes as his flashed red. She started to curl up when an extremely loud growl came from him.
“Get out,” He growled. “Get out of this place.” Kagome froze. “Leave this place now you damned miko!!” He snarled.
“Sesshomaru-sama…” she began.
“GET OUT!!!!” He roared. `WHY!? Why did she have to remind this Sesshomaru?!' He thought.
Kagome immediately scurried out the chamber leaving the door open as she ran out. She ran through the halls and down the stairs. Her face was flushed and tears were streaming down her cheeks. She ignored the calls from Jaken and Rin as she ran out into blizzard.
Kagome didn't stop till she tripped and rolled down a hill. Once she stopped rolling, she went into a coughing fit. She crawled to the base of a near by tree and curled up in a ball.
`Why am I crying anyways?' She wondered. What was the reason? Hell, she should've been happy that she was out of that dreadful place! But…she wasn't…why?
“Kagome?” Inuyasha's voice called.
She lifted her head from her arms, thinking she was asleep and answered only to his voice as she had done weeks ago. Kagome's teary eyes stared at the ripped red hakama. She looked up and took in Inuyasha's scratched face.
“Inuyasha…” She whispered. “Inuyasha!!”
She jumped into his waiting arms, wrapping her arms and legs around him. Inuyasha rubbed her back and buried his nose in her hair. He did not want to let go just as she. His eyes saddened at her wings which were twitching.
“Please don't leave me…” She whispered. Inuyasha's golden pools saddened even more.
“I have to; I don't want to hurt you,” He blinked then quickly added, “more than I already have.”
“I don't care; it's not your fault.” Kagome sniffled. “I don't think I can spend another day with your brother!”
Inuyasha smiled then kissed the top of her head. Kagome moved her face from his neck and blinked the tears away. Once her sight was clearer, she gasped at the sight of his jagged purple stripes. Kagome traced them and began to trace unseen symbols on his face. His smile grew wider before her cupped her face.
“Kagome, trust me when I say I never really mean to hurt you.”
“I…I don't know if I can.” She whispered.
“Say yes.” He muttered resting his forehead on hers.
Kagome thought about it. It was true. Through all the years she had known Inuyasha, he never actually meant to hurt her. He was just lost in some situations and ended up hurting her on accident. Other times, he just said or did something before thinking.
“Yes” She said.
Inuyasha hugged her tight. Nothing and no one was going to mess this up…At least, that's what they thought. `Now would be a good time to awaken Inuyasha.' Naraku's voice laughed evilly in his mind. The poor hanyou shut his eyes closed and pushed Kagome out of his grasp. He grabbed his head and growled.
“Inuyasha?” That was the second time today that an inu youkai pushed her out of their warm embrace.
“Get out of here!!” He roared, his fangs enlarged and passed his lower lip. Inuyasha slumped down, his breathing was ragged and his ears were flat against his skull.
When his breathing became normal, his head turned to her. His stripes were more jagged and his eyes were blood red. He chuckled darkly as Kagome slowly crawled away from him. She had the look of prey cornered by the predator. He pounced when she made a move to finally run and pushed her down in the snow.
“Inuyasha,” Kagome gasped. He smirked and roughly grabbed her chin.
Kagome placed her hands on his chest, but he swiftly grabbed them and held them over her head with one hand. He `tsk'ed her and straddled her waist.
“Not this time bitch.” He laughed. He yanked her head to the side and stared at her racing pulse. He lowered his head and roughly licked it. With a quick kiss and “Gomen ne” he sank his fangs in it. Kagome's eyes widened from the shock and pain. She cried out, obviously hurting his ears.
She struggled to push him off, but it was fruitless. Her wrists were bleeding from her struggle and his claws. Tears sprang from her eyes as Inuyasha's fangs sank deeper. He struggling ceased and her world started to darken.
“Help me…please…” She murmured before slipping away.
~*
Inuyasha hastily blinked the red from his eyes. He gasped and quickly pulled away from her neck. He stared down at her. Her delicious sweet smelling blood began to re-soak her hair. The snow surrounding them was dyed red and melting from the warm liquid. Inuyasha lifted a shaky hand and lightly rubbed his warm knuckles against her cold cheek.
He removed his hand quickly from her cheek when a loud growl reached his ears. He looked up surprised. His brother was only in a black hakama as he was in Kagome's dream. His silver hair was disheveled, his own stripes were jagged, and his eyes…blood red. Inuyasha blinked. Had his brother actually cared for Kagome's welfare??
Sesshomaru glared at the sight before him. Kagome was extremely pale from her loss of blood and flat on her back with red snow surrounding her. Inuyasha was sat atop her waist with her blood dribbling from his lips. His eyes glowed as Inuyasha moved.
“Sesshomaru, it's not my fault.” Inuyasha whispered backing away from Kagome and his brother.
“Oh it is not?” Sesshomaru asked calmly, a little too calmly, stepping towards him. “Funny, then why is it her blood that spills from your lips?” The angered taiyoukai cornered him into a tree.
Inuyasha felt like a child again. He got a quick flashback of how Sesshomaru beat him when he spoke of his mother. Inuyasha looked down, he could not stare into his brothers eyes. His eyes shifted to Kagome's body, he would die for Kagome. And that was a good idea to him. He caused too much pain for her, maybe…
“Kill me Sesshomaru.” Inuyasha said emotionless as his brother.
Sesshomaru stared at his brother in disbelief. He was throwing away his pride? All for a human?? `He deserves to die, after all he's done to her.' His inner youkai growled. The older of the two raised a poisonous claw, ready to strike…
“No, please…” Both blinked. They turned their attention back to Kagome.
She was struggling to stand up. A hand a placed on her neck and her knees knocked.
“Please, don't kill him Sesshomaru…It's not his fault.” Kagome said, wincing from the pain and loss of blood.
“Kagome…” Inuyasha began.
“Shut up, don't ask your brother to kill you just because you hurt me. You were being controlled.” She grounded out.
Sesshomaru's eyes returned to their gorgeous gold pools as her eyes started to close. Kagome's sight was darkening again. Her body growing weaker with every passing second. She felt herself falling…falling…into two strong arms. Kagome looked up, wondering which it was that caught her since she gave Sesshomaru his arm back. All she saw was red, gold, and silver blurry features, it was Inuyasha.
“Kagome,” He whispered. “stay with Sesshomaru, away from me. There's no telling what my demon side will do now that it has marked you as its prey.” Kagome weakly nodded. She'll stay with Sesshomaru, just a little bit longer…
Inuyasha placed her bloody self in Sesshomaru's arms and glared at him. “You'd better take good care of her Sesshomaru…” He snarled; knowing it was empty to Sesshomaru. He was shocked when Sesshomaru nodded. Inuyasha felt a heart searing pain in his mind and ran off before he could do anymore damage.
Sesshomaru look at the tenshi no yami in his arms. He brushed a few ebony strands from her face and stared at it. He growled at himself for thinking a human face being angelic. He sighed, he was in denial, and headed back to the castle.
“Thank you Maru-chan,” She whispered to him with the meager strength she had left. He stopped dead in his tracks and stared down at her face once again. Her eyes held tiredness mixed with happiness. They fluttered close as he resumed his walk.
