I never said I'd lie in wait forever.I died we'd be together.can't always just forget her.she could try.the end of the worldthe last thing I see. *~
Kagome awoke the next morning to see a giant bouquet of flowers in her lap. She was puzzled for a moment before realizing she was still in the hospital. Fully awakening she noticed she was holding Inuyasha's hand. She sat up and gently pulled her hand away from his, placing his by his side. She stared at the bouquet of roses before opening the card. 'My dearest, please forgive me for what I said. A brother can't help but feel distressed at a time like this. Meet me in the Atrium at noon. Many happy regards - Sesshomaru' Kagome sighed and put the card back in the cardholder. She smiled down to Inuyasha, as his nose twitched slightly, trying not to giggle she made her exit.
She took the elevator down to the main lobby and looked around, where was the dumb atrium? She sighed and continued wandering through the corridors.
"Miss, can I help you?" an orderly asked.
"Yes, please." Kagome laughed, "I was wondering where the Atrium is."
"Down this hall, to your left, then follow that hall to the end where you can only go right, then go down to the second left and follow the stairwell to the back, but don't go up the stairs. And then you want to go out through the door behind the stairs, and then walk through the left corridor and past the second chamber if you come to the library you've gone to far, go back and take the left corridor."
"Uh . . . thanks." Kagome smiled and began her journey.
After having gone the wrong direction twenty times she finally gave up and sat down on the ground. She was relieved when Sesshomaru walked toward her. She stood up and smiled casually.
"Sorry, this place is a labyrinth." she apologized.
"I understand." he almost smiled, which was a big relief to Kagome.
"Come with me." she followed him to the Atrium and they sat down to talk.

&n bsp; "You're doing wonderfully Inuyasha."
"Thanks Doc. So, can I go home?" Inuyasha asked hopefully.
"Ha, ha, I am afraid not."
Inuyasha was recovering amazingly, he was half demon after all. His legs were already supporting his weight again (not that there was much weight to support). His arm was almost mobile again, accomplishing minor movements such as spinning his arm in a complete circle, were no longer difficult challenges for the hanyou. He was almost even beginning to accept his 'deformities'.
"Just a few more days Inuyasha, until you are truly healed."
"But you just said I am doing wonderfully. Isn't that good enough?" not wanting to show his weakness he casually sat down on the chair, rather than collapsing which is what he felt like doing.
"I am afraid not."
"Doctors orders Inuyasha." his mother said from her position at the other end of the physical therapy room.
"Thanks Mom." Inuyasha said sarcastically. She just smiled one of her award winning smiles and continued her reading.
"Shall we try your arm rotations again? Or would you prefer to work with the weight ball." the doctor asked.
Inuyasha was slightly concerned with how Doctor Totosai, who appeared to be eighty or ninety, was able to do all of Inuyasha's exercises and the weight ball. He shrugged this off and went for the more challenging.
"Eh, weight ball."

&n bsp; "I was happy to see that you spent all night with my Brother." Sesshomaru said, sipping his Green Mountain coffee.
"It was purely accidental. He fell asleep, then I fell asleep. It wont happen again."
"I spoke the truth. He is very self conscious right now, and you are helping him a great deal. Whether you mean to or not is none of my concern." again he took a sip off his coffee.
Kagome was fascinated by the patterns he displayed. His actions were so symmetrical, it were as though he were a machine. Kagome shook that thought from her head and looked out the picturesque window. Her thoughts became clouded with visions of Inuyasha. How could he allow himself to break down so completely in front of her? Whether he meant to or not, he must trust her a great deal. Kagome smiled at that thought. She had no real friends, no one really trusted her because she trusted no one. Having someone who felt the same as you, even if it was on accident or only remotely similar, it was a good feeling.
He still doesn't know . . . who saved him.
"Kagome? You are looking awfully pensive. Are you feeling all right?" Sesshomaru asked casually.
"What? I am not allowed to be thoughtful?" Kagome joked back.
"I did not mean it in that respect."
"I know Hun, calm down." Kagome glanced at her watch and sat up quickly. "I have to go. Sorry. I have a meeting. I'll talk to you later." she kissed him on the cheek and ran off through the labyrinth.
"You forgive me then?" Sesshomaru called.
"Duh!" she called back as she rounded the corner.

& nbsp; Inuyasha hid his pain and anger well. Except for the one slip up he had with Kagome. Other than that, no one seemed to think he was unhappy. Miroku came by more frequently, now that Inuyasha didn't snap at him all the time.
On this particular Saturday, Kagome and Sesshomaru were out and about (again) and decided to go see how Inuyasha's therapy was going, and happen to run into Miroku.
"Hello Miroku." Sesshomaru said lightly.
"Hey Sesshy." Miroku waved and winked.
"I believe I told you not to call me that in public!" Sesshomaru barked, holding Miroku by his collar.
"Roger that!" Miroku smiled nervously as Sesshomaru dropped him to his feet. "So, have you been by to see Inuyasha today?" Miroku asked while massaging his raw throat.
"No. We were actually on our way. Well I was, hoping Kagome would accompany me."
"Eh? Sure." she replied semi-reluctantly.
"Great! We can all go!" Miroku offered.
"Fine."
The trio walked through town, determined to get to the rehabilitation center. Kagome was busy thinking about life in general, Sesshomaru was busy looking at Kagome with a heated longing, and Miroku was watching girls walking by in short skirts.
"Say guys," Miroku brought them out of their thoughts.
"Hmm?" they said in unison.
"Do you guys know who saved Inuyasha?" Sesshomaru shrugged and Kagome shook her head uneasily.
"Why would you ask that?"
"What do you mean Kagome?"
"Well, all I meant was, we should just be glad he is okay." she smiled nervously and rubbed the back of her neck.
"Yes. I agree with Kagome. What is done is done. But, whoever saved my brother, I wish I could thank them. From the bottom of my heart." Sesshomaru almost smiled, and that warmed Kagomes soul . . . momentarily.
"I bet it was Kikyou."
"I doubt it was that selfish bitch." Sesshomaru said. Quickly the three of them realized, neither of them had made the assumption that Kikyou was the rescuer.
The trio turned around to see none other than the man in context.
"INUYASHA! What are you doing out of your room!? This is against regulation! You need to do more therapy, you need to make sure you can walk fine." Sesshomaru calmed down for a moment to noticed, Inuyasha was walking fine, and even seemed to be his 'snidy' self. "You are walking fine."
"But why did you leave Inuyasha-Kun. That was just dumb." Kagome spoke up, everyone looked at her and she quickly covered, "Not that I care."
"For your information, I just couldn't stand those doctors. They are always hovering over me like I'm gonna die or something! It was pissing me off!"* Inuyasha stood up straight, he had been leaning against the wall.
"Well, we should get you back buddy." Miroku chimed in.
"No. I don't want to go back yet. I at least want to get something decent to eat. You can't tell me that isn't acceptable." Inuyasha put on a 'pouty' face and looked up to his brother.
"Fine." Sesshomaru sighed in defeat.
The four of them walked into Lucia's Waffle House and sat down. Sesshomaru kept looking over his shoulder, as though expecting someone to come and arrest him.
"Would you calm down? You are freaking me out." Kagome commented, looking at the man next to her in the small booth.
"Sorry."
"Man, fuck that." Inuyasha mumbled under his breath.
"What's wrong?" Miroku asked, turning his head away from the beautiful waitress. Inuyasha pulled down his sleeve and plastered on a smile.
"Not - a - thing." Kagome noticed his cover but didn't say anything. She continued to stare at him for a long time.
"I am Sa-"
"SANGO?!" Kagome yelled and jumped over Sesshomaru, who would have fallen off the chair if not for his impeccable demon instincts.
"KAGOME!" the waitress hugged Kagome and Kagome hugged her back. (Kagome was still half on the bench, her legs draped across Sesshomarus legs, and her body weight being supported by Sango holding her up).
"How have you been this summer?" Kagome asked, casually taking her proper seat again, and mouthing a 'sorry' to Sesshomaru who nodded.
"Great. Working. See, I got a new job." she smiled and bowed, tugging lightly at the sides of her skirt.
"Cute outfit." Kagome commented, now that she could see it properly.
"Thanks. So who are these men you are with? Is Kagome getting busy?" Kagome blushed more deeply than she ever had in her life.
"Sango." she moaned. "No. That is Miroku, he went to our school."
"I thought he looked familiar." Sango shook his hand and surprisingly he made no pass to grope her.
"That is Inuyasha. You might remember him he came into the club a few times, he also graduated with us." Kagome explained.
"Oh okay. Hey Yash." Sango stuck her hand out to shake with him, he ignored it.
"Don't call me that." was his only comment as he looked in the opposite direction.
"Friendly." Sango said sarcastically. "And who are you?" she asked Sesshomaru.
"I am Sesshomaru Takahashi. I am Inuyashas' older brother. I am Kagomes boyfriend." he summarized.
'Boyfriend. We never discussed that. Is he really? Well I guess we have been kind of friendly toward each other. Hmm. Well, it does feel nice to have someone there for me. Especially when its not Naraku.' Kagome smiled in response to his answer, and Sango almost had a heart attack.
"Kagome! Why didn't you tell me you had a cute older boyfriend?"
"Well, you certainly are blunt Sango." Kagome said pointedly.
"Sorry." she mumbled. She then saw her boss give her a 'what are you doing' look and she smiled nervously. "Anyway, what can I get for you guys?"
"I'll have coffee, black, to start. Bacon, two eggs over easy, home fries, sausage, and rye toast. Oh, and throw some hash in there." Inuyasha rambled.
"Can we say 'artery clogging?'" Kagome asked.
"Feh."
"I'll have a blueberry waffle with a small glass of orange juice please." Kagome smiled sweetly, knowing perfectly well Sango all ready knew what she would order.
"I'll have black coffee as well, an egg white omelet with very little cheddar cheese and an English muffin. Oh and a side of fruit please." Sesshomaru ordered.
"I am going to have the exact same thing as my buddy Yash. Minus the sausage." Miroku winked at Sango, who blushed momentarily before smiling and taking the menus.
"I'll be right back with your beverages." she then hurried away.
"This place is cute." Miroku commented, looking around at the hand painted windows and the designs on the wall.
"Yeah it is. Sango and I used to come here all the time before I got my second job. I can't believe she is working here now. I guess we kind of loss touch this summer." Kagome seemed slightly pensive, then her mood changed back to bright. "Oh well, we are going to be going to the same College, so we can bug each other then!"
"Ah yes, college, what fun." Mirokus' voice was sarcastic.
"I don't know if I want to go." Inuyasha said almost silently.
"Why?" Sesshomaru asked, having heard him perfectly.
"Oh. . . did I say that out loud. Never mind!" Inuyasha smiled faintly and took a sip of his coffee (which Sango had brought over a few minutes prior).
The group looked at him intently, he ignored their gazes and stared toward an elderly couple sharing their breakfasts. He almost smiled.
"So Kags," Sango sat down on the other side of Sesshomaru, pushing against him to fit properly on the small bench. "Have you gone to the school yet?"
"No, I haven't had time. Two jobs and community service." she sighed.
"Me either."
"Which college are you going to?" Miroku asked hesitantly, though he knew.
"Ithaca." Sango smiled happily.
"Wonderful." a lecherous grin spread across his face.
"Sango!" her boss yelled in a dangerous tone.
"Sorry, got to run." Sango stood up and ran off toward the kitchen, smiling nervously to her boss.
"She is going to get fired if I keep coming here." Kagome joked lightly. Sesshomaru had never seen her as happy as she was this day. Most of the time she was happy enough, but today there was a tremendous light in her eyes that didn't seem to wither.
"Oh before I forget," Sesshomaru pulled something out of his pocket, "I picked this up for you last night. It's our one month." he smiled and handed Kagome a box. She opened it up to reveal a small dolphin necklace with a blue gem in the center.
"Ohmigod. That is wicked cute. But you shouldn't have. I didn't know we were exchanging. I feel ill-prepared." Kagome tried to give him the box back but he shook his head.
"I bought it for you. Please accept it." Kagome smiled and put the necklace on. It fit very nicely and hung just inside the dip in her neck and collarbone.
"Okay, waffle for my best friend in the world." Sango smiled, "Lets see omelet for the object of my Kags affection, and two heart attacks on a platter."
"Sango! I am not paying you to make fun of peoples food!" Sango placed the plates down in front of Inuyasha and Miroku.
"I swear he has like supersonic hearing." Sango whispered.
"I heard that!"
"See!" Sango rolled her eyes. "Anything else I can get you?"
"No, we are good." Kagome smiled.
"All right, see ya later guys." she waved and walked away.
The meal was eaten in silence as everyone concentrated on the delicious food before them. Kagomes eyes wandered aimlessly around the restaurant and her fingers absently played at the dolphin around her neck. No one had ever been as nice to her as Sesshomaru was. Could she be falling for him?
Sesshomaru kept looking at Kagome out of the corner of his eye. He could smell the confusion in her scent, but decided now was not the time to talk of such things. Miroku and Inuyasha were too engrossed in their breakfast to notice much of anything around them.
"Could I get you some more coffee boys?" Sango asked, holding up a pot.
"Hai please," Sesshomaru said. Sango tilted the cup near Inuyasha who nodded.
"What about you Miroku?"
"Sure." he said absently.
"Anything else I can get for you?"
"Can we just get the check?" Sesshomaru asked.
"Mmm hmm."
"Oh, and can I get your number?" Miroku smiled one of his 'million-dollar' smiles. Sango blushed dramatically and walked away.
"So, you like Sango?" Kagome asked, "Ya know, she is single." Kagome leaned over the table, as though she were telling a dirty secret.
"Really?" Miroku leaned toward Kagome, very intrigued (but slightly poking fun at her manerizms).
"Oh hai, she split with Akito about a month before school ended." Kagome provided. Miroku nodded stroking his chin as though thinking.
"Here is your check, and thank you for eating at Lucia's come back again y'all. And Kags, call me." she winked and walked away.
Sesshomaru picked up the bill and looked at it. It was very cheap considering all the products Inuyasha and Miroku ate. He pulled out his wallet and slapped down a twenty and a ten. He then looked more closely. "Hey Miroku. I think this for you." he handed over the slip.
"Why?" he looked at it and at the bottom of the check it read 'Sango 979-9090'
"Kags, can I borrow a pen?" Kagome reached into her 'Nightmare Before Christmas' handbag and pulled out a pen. Miroku smirked as he wrote the number down on his hand and tossed he pen back to Kagome. "Thanks."
The four walked out onto the street, Miroku taking the time to light a cigarette.
"Do you have to do that in my general vicinity?" Kagome asked, fanning the smoke away from her face.
"Yes." Miroku answered.
"Dude, just put it out." Inuyasha spoke up. Everyone looked at him oddly. "What?"
"Well, shall we get the patient back to his room?" Sesshomaru asked, still looking over his shoulder.
"Fine." Inuyasha sighed.

& nbsp; Two weeks later Inuyasha was back in his own home. He was doing well with walking again, his body strength was completely back to normal. The only thing that remained injured, aside from his pride, was his arm. The scar from where they did reconstructive surgery was still there and Inuyasha refused to wear short sleeve shirts now. His family members didn't really pay attention to this fact, instead focusing on he was alive at all.
Inuyasha was determined to enjoy his 'second chance' at life, even though he felt so hideous and could never play the sports he loved again. He was sitting in his room, staring at the various movie posters that cluttered his walls. Sighing contently at being home he was interrupted from his thoughts by the jingle of 'Ice Ice Baby' coming from his cell phone. He picked up the machinery and looked at the caller idea.
"Sup?" he asked.
~"Hey Yash. Wanna come to my house and hang out or something?"~
"Sure Miroku. Be there in a few." he hung up the phone, throwing it in his pants pocket, and ran downstairs.
Inuyasha wasn't suppose to drive yet . . . but he did. He got into his new car - which his Dad had bought to replace the one that was currently lying in a junk yard somewhere -, as though nothing had happened, and began the short drive to Miroku's. As he was driving up Mirokus long dirt path he began thinking of that night. He recalled the same things that seemed to be stuck in his mind, playing over and over again like a broken vinyl. He shook his head, trying to erase the thoughts from his head. The radio blaring, Kikyou bickering in the background, a white flashing light, scraping metal, pained screams.
Inuyasha slammed on the breaks, closing his eyes and violently shaking his head to get rid of the images in his minds eye. It didn't work, he continued to see them. He turned around and drove to the park, wanting to be alone for a few minutes, before dealing with Miroku and his silly antics.
The park was quiet, not a soul in sight. Inuyasha walked around before settling himself on the merry-go-round. He looked up at the sky, which was quickly becoming night. The moon was rising and the stars were beginning to glow in the night sky. He sighed heavily, running his hands through his raven hair. He decided that his human emotions were preventing him from letting that night go, so he transformed right there. Shaking his hair, he saw the white tendrils fall gracefully across his chest. He sighed remorsefully and laid back. Miroku would be calling soon, wondering where he was.
'All I really want to know is the truth. Did Kikyou pull me out of that car before it exploded? If she did, why isn't she here? What happened that night? Who cursed me with life, now that Kikyou is dead, and it's all my fault?'
"Inuyasha?" a voice asked. Inuyasha sat up and looked upon the surprised face of Kagome.
He didn't have time to mutter the concealing spell and instead remained still, hoping she wouldn't notice his hair, ears, or fangs. He had forgotten she had already seen him in his hanyou form.
"Hey." she said, sitting next to him. At this proximity she was bound to notice.
"How are you?" he asked, trying to remain calm.
"I am doing well. How are you? Feeling better?" she asked.
"Mm hmm." he answered slowly.
"That is good to hear." she stared up at the sky, and noticed a bright red dot. "Mars is out. It's gorgeous isn't it? The stars. You know in two years all nine planets will align. It will be the last time for five thousand years? Or is it five hundred. I am always such a dope with numbers."
"You talk a lot." Inuyasha observed.
"Only when I am nervous." she muttered.
"Why are you so nervous?"
"Well I feel awkward." Kagome began, very hesitantly.
"Why?" he asked, pretending he had no clue.
"Well," she tried again, "Being here. You. Me. Talking like we are friends. Your ears." she paused slightly after she let it slip, then proceeding to explain. "I am pretty sure I saw them at the hospital. But I couldn't be a hundred percent sure." she began rambling.
"I didn't have them . . . in public. I am a half-demon. I can conceal them when I feel like it. But I was enjoying my alone time and wanted to be my natural self." Inuyasha sounded somewhat bitter that his peace had been disturbed.
"I didn't mean to interrupt. I just noticed your flashy watch, ridiculously expensive clothing, and your stuck up aura and had to rush over to say hi." Kagome said in a sarcastic tone.
"Feh. If you hate me so much why the fuck are you still here?" he placed his arms dramatically across his chest and looked at her sternly.
"You are not as much of an asshole as you think you are. Don't get me wrong; you are an ass, but not that bad of one." Kagome almost smiled, but ended up smirking.
"Well, you are a bitch. I don't know what Sess sees in you."
"My irresistible charm? My intelligence? My positively perfect aura? My beauty and grace? Which one are you having trouble understanding?" she laughed and hit him playfully on the arm.
"Hmm . . . all of them." he shot back, loosing his arrogant demeanor.
"Mm, you are so convincing when you're angry." again Kagomes biting sarcasm was back.
"Aren't I?" the pair smiled at each other and laughed.
After the laughter died down and the silence allowed him to think again Inuyasha spoke up
"I don't know why I miss her."
"What do you mean?" Kagome asked, then realized what he meant.
"I didn't love her. She was hot. I guess, she was closest to love I had ever been, and I'll miss that. Not to mention the fact that I killed her. God, why couldn't they have let me die?" Inuyasha said the last part under his breath and put his head in his hands.
"You did not kill her Inuyasha!" Kagome stood up, outraged. "The accident was just that . . . an accident! If you want to blame anyone, blame me! When I saved you I didn't know Kikyou was in the car. I didn't . . . I couldn't . . . " Kagome put her hand to her mouth, realizing her secret was out. "I am so sorry." she ran away, tears falling from her eyes as she rounded the corner and out of sight.
"Ka . . . Kagome?"
You are never coming homecoming homeI? Should I?all the things that you never ever told me.all the smiles that are ever ever. Ever.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
&n bsp; The song this time was "The Ghost of You" by "My Chemical Romance"! I love them! ahh . . . so the big 'secret' is out. Inuyasha was saved by the only person who truly 'detests' him. That has got to be a pride breaker. Soo0o0 Review if you like, if not . . . well okay. Chapter 6 up up and away!!!!!!!!
My * for this chapter. For some reason when I picture Inuyasha going "It was pissing me off!" it reminded me SO much of Kyo-Kun from Fruits Basket. hahahaha. I love Kyo. ^-^
OH! By the way, in the first chapter I said Kags best friend was Eri . . . not Sango . . . I wasn't going to put the Sango/Miroku thing in here, I don't really like Sango, so that is why I was going to leave her out, but then I felt bad for Miroku, so ya know. Anyway, so Sango is Kagome-chans best friend, but she wasn't in it too much in the beginning because she had . . . Lacrosse yeah. Haha. But no more surprise friends, since Kagome isn't suppose to have too many friends. ^-^ Thanks for putting up with me
~Anubis
oh PS the other * was because I had another version of this conversation but the more I mulled it over the more I couldn't use it. I wanted to use it and be completely cliche, but I couldn't go through with it. So here is the OTHER version of the Kags/Inu Convo. If you don't want to read then don't cause its basically the same thing ^_^ Thanks guys love you!
"I feel awkward asking you this . . . " she paused, unintentionally adding a dramatic effect. "Can I pet your ears?"* Inuyashas calm demeanor turned to shocked in the blink of an eye, or the response of one young girl.
"I . . . if you want . . ." Kagome reached up and gently massaged the base of his ear. His eyes involuntarily closed and he almost purred with content. "You aren't afraid of them? Of me?" he asked; his fear being his only hold to reality at this point.
"No. I don't find them at all frightening. I thought I saw them that night in the hospital. But I hadn't even seen them before or since." Kagome smiled, pulling her hand away hesitantly.
"I didn't have them . . . in public. I am a half-demon. I can conceal them when I feel like it. But I was enjoying my alone time and wanted to be my natural self." Inuyasha sounded somewhat bitter that his peace had been disturbed.
