Kyoko was at the top and she never lost her breath! She felt so proud of herself. She remembered the first time she walked these stairs; she had to wait a few minutes to catch her breath.

She walked straight towards the house and knocked on the door when she arrived. Souta opened the door and gestured her to come in. Souta told her that she could sit on the couch and she did.

“Mom, Kyoko is here!” he shouted and he took a seat next to her.

Yumi walked in with a smile on her face. “What brings you here, Kyoko?”

“Oh, there is something I need to tell you and believe me, it's the truth. I would never lie to my former life's mother,” promised Kyoko.

Yumi nodded. “I know. Kagome would never lie. I don't think she ever did.”

“Well, you see, wait, where's your father? I think he should hear it too,” asked Kyoko.

Souta and Yumi looked at each other and then to her. Souta said, “My grandfather is in the hospital, on life support and is in a coma. We have no idea what happened. But please, tell us what you wanted to say.”

Kyoko never remembered that Grandpa was in a coma. Something fishy is going on. But, she continued, “Well, you see, I am from twelve years from the future. Midoriko sent me here since an evil has been reincarnated and came back here since I defeated the evil in Kagome. I have no idea who it is, yet. I wanted to tell you this since you are like my second family and Kagome's. Also, since you dealt with magical stuff all the time. Well, I am not sure now, but I knew you did.”

“We believe you since Midoriko sent you back here. If she knows something is going on, something is going on. Since that well can travel back to the Warring States era, then I can believe that you are from twelve years from the future, except why are you in your eighteen year old body and not your, what would it be? Thirty year old body?” asked Yumi.

“I have no idea, but I don't care. I would rather fight evil in this body than my old one. Let's just say magic and time is a very confusing concept,” said Kyoko.

Yumi suddenly walked out of the room and came back in, holding something in her hand. She said, “I should have given you this when you first came here, but I never thought of it until now since you came back here, telling us about the new evil. If it s a demon, I know it will come back here and try to take it. No demons have ever come to this holy place, yet. Since you are a miko with great spiritual powers, like my daughter, I know you will protect it well,” she opened her hand and it was the Shikon no Tama, “InuYasha gave it to us when he first came here long before you walked up these steps.”

Kyoko took it from her hand and held it. She felt so much pureness radiating off from it. She fingered the old chain that she knew it was from the Feudal Era.

“InuYasha protected it ever since he got the two last shards from Koga. It never went into evil's hands. He protected it with his life. He is known as the Protector of the Shikon no Tama in legends and in some of the history books,” Souta explained.

Kyoko couldn't believe that InuYasha protected the Jewel for almost over five hundred years. That's pretty much a damn long time.

“Don't worry, I'll protect it. I guess when I die, I'll burn it with my body, like Kikyo, and so I'll be reincarnated in another girl… or boy or whomever. I don't know anyone else that can guard this,” said Kyoko.

Yumi and Souta chuckled at the boy part. They were just imagining Kyoko reincarnated as a boy. Kyoko smiled. She supposed it was a bit funny.

When the laughter died down, Yumi asked, “Kyoko, could you please tell us what happened the day after your birthday?”

Kyoko got cold chills at the memory, but she knew that the mother of Kagome deserved it. “Fine, I'll tell you.”
