They had a funeral the following week. Kyoko wished that her friends, InuYasha, Kagome, Miroku, Sango, and Shippo were there to console her. But she knew that they were there in spirit, obviously. Although, Haru was there; he sat next to her during the whole time.

Jiro was standing in the back of the room. Kyoko supposed that he couldn't handle it all. She didn't know that in fact he didn't really care about the whole thing. He was only there to show people that he respected the man.

After the funeral and after the burial, she went to see Jii-Chan. She wanted to pay respect for Kagome's grandfather. Also, she wanted to find out what happened to him. It's not normal that he would suddenly go into a coma. She was told that the doctors couldn't find the reason why he went into that state

Kyoko went to the lady at a desk and asked for his room number. The lady told her and Kyoko walked to the room. When she arrived, she opened the door and saw that no one was in there. She was glad. She wanted to have no interruptions since she was going to use her miko powers to communicate with him in his mind.

The girl grabbed a chair and placed it next to his bed. She felt sad. He was hooked up to tubes and machines to just keep him alive. She placed her hands onto his temples. She closed her eyes and focused her energy to create a link to him. After a while, she succeeded.

Inside his mind, there was fog and mist. She started calling out his name and started to walk around. She was getting agitated that she couldn't see a damn thing. Then, she saw a dim light straight ahead. She started to jog towards it.

`Maybe he is somewhere at the end of the light,' she thought.

It felt like an eternity for her to reach out. It felt like it was getting farther away from her than her going closer to it. When she arrived, there was a gate. She opened it and walked in. Surrounding her was whiteness with black swirls. It was like goodness was being consumed with wickedness.

“What the hell is going on?” she asked herself. When she was walking on grass, flowers would bloom and then wither away. When she saw this happening, panic was starting to take over her heart. Something wrong is going on in Jii-Chan's mind.

Kyoko looked around, hoping she would see him before the link started to fade away. She can only take it for so long. She eventually found him sitting on a rock, looking onto a dark ocean. His whole body was rocking back forth with hands clutching to his head.

“Evil…evil rising…will take over world…so strong, so strong…only a strong light can defeat it…” he was repeating.

Kyoko walked behind him and laid a hand on his shoulder. He never flinched, just repeated what he was saying over and over. She decided to place herself in front of him. She kneeled in front of him and laid her hands on his lap. Then, she lifted her left hand and placed it on his left cheek. Her eyes were full of grief. She felt pity for the man. Kyoko hoped she would save him from being in eternal insanity.

“Jii-Chan, look at me, please, can you hear me?” she asked him.

Jii-Chan's eyes were darting in all directions and saliva was starting to go down his face. His mouth opened and moaned. It was no ordinary moan. It was more like a bone chilling moan. Kyoko had a feeling that the evil must have done this to him. Jii-Chan must know something that the evil didn't want anyone to know. Well, Kyoko was determined more than ever to release Jii-Chan from lunacy.

“Jii-Chan it's me, Kyoko. Remember, Kagome's reincarnation. You have to snap out of it; don't give in. You are stronger than this; I know it. Don't leave your family, it is not your time,” Kyoko was telling him. Water was starting to form in her eyes. She will save Kagome's grandfather and she will. She must not lose faith!

Then, she realized that she must sacrifice some of the memories of Kagome had. She closed her eyes and started to channel them to the old man. The memories she gave him was the ones with his family: Yumi, Souta, and Kagome. And surely enough, Kyoko started to forget the memories she once had as Jii-Chan started to become his self. He started to remember everything he once was.

Once he came to his senses, she stopped and looked at him. Kyoko stilled had some memories left of them three sharing moments together. She smiled at him and he smiled back.

“Welcome back,” she told him. She clasped his hands in hers.

“Thank you child. After being in the mist for so long, I know what it is going on. I know what the evil is, but you have to find him yourself,” he said and vanished.

Kyoko looked around, wondering where he went. She went back to her senses in the real world.

She opened her eyes and saw that Jii-Chan was back in his sane mind. She exhaled out a sigh of relief and decided to go. She stood up and left the room and the hospital. Along her way back to her home and then into her room, she thought, `Score one for me and zero to you evil one.'
