Chapter 3
Day one: Washed ashore.
White capped waves crashed upon the shoreline as Inuyasha carried the unconscious girl in his strong arms. His feet sank into the soft white sandy earth. He made his trek, fighting the powerful undertow; nearly having to catch his balance with the strong sea.
Inuyasha could still hear the dolphins in the distance, his ears swiveling catching their splashes. He turned his head towards the sea, thankful that the inquisitive mammals had been there to save them.
Inuyasha was exhausted and waterlogged. With heavy breaths, he made it further up the shoreline. He looked down at the beautiful, spirited girl in his arms. Her body lay limp, her arms dangling to the side.
Dragging Kagome's body out of the water took a lot of his energy. He fell to his knees, careful not to lose her in the process. He kneeled panting, yet instincts pushing him forward. Her limp being dangling from his hold as her arms swayed lifelessly in his arms. Placing her down on the welcoming beach, he collapsed besides her.
Inuyasha needed to get up. Forcing himself to comply, as usual, it was utterly useless. Feeling his muscles stiffened and his skin pruned from being in the ocean water excessively long. Glancing over at Kagome, he could see the cut slowly drying up. `Damn if I do not do something soon, that is going to fester.' Taking in deep breaths, he forced his weary body up and off the soft sand. Bending down, he lifted her limp body from the earth and back in his embrace.
Inuyasha knew that Kagome was still in shock; he found a spot away from the shoreline. Glancing around in hopes that any driftwood had washed up to shore, finding any size twigs he rushed over to the soon to be fire pit. It was getting late, thus he decided to go into the dense vegetation. Rushing into the impenetrable foliage, he made swift work of some sapling trees. Snapping the twigs, he started a fire buy rubbing two sticks together. Smoke arose from the abrasion as he placed the dry leaves into the groove of the coppice, birthing a fire.
A smile graced his striking face. `It has been far too long since I used my survival skills.'
Moving Kagome gently next to the now roaring blaze, Inuyasha began undressing her starting with her black and white pinstriped blazer. Slowly unbuttoning it, he hoped that she had something underneath. A breath of relief, when he stripped her only to see her sheer silk pink camisole that was now clinging too comfortably towards her chest. Her round perk nipples tantalized him almost mockingly. The very thought of touching them entered his mind. Yet, thought against it. Discarding the blazer, he began to lick her cut, as his saliva would make sure no infection incurred in her very being.
Kagome began to stir, when she felt a warm tongue tickle her brow. She was home and her dog was welcoming her arrival. “Stop that Sandy,” she mumbled coherently, trying to push the nuisance away. Therefore, she could go back to her blissful dream. Realization hit her immensely. `I am not at home, I was onboard a plane and then....' Her eyes fluttered open only to meet with golden orbs staring right back at her. Sitting up quickly, her head felt a rush of dizziness. She tried to push the feeling aside; however, it was in vain.
Pulling her hand upon her head, Kagome tried to adjust her surroundings. Tropical birds of all species made their songs in the distance; white sandy beaches graced her hands and feet. Large palm trees waned into the blue firmament as they swayed gently from the ocean's breeze. Looking back at the man before her, she did not recognize him. Looking closer, she rubbed her eyes in bewilderment. She noticed silver hair and two white dog-ears that lay perfectly on top of his head. “I'm dreaming this. This is not real. Kagome, wake up. This is a nightmare. There are no such things as monsters,” she stated aloud, convincing herself that he was not there. It was nothing more than a mere illusion. Her heart raced when she heard him growl.
“A monster huh…? Well, this monster saved your ungrateful ass!” Inuyasha snorted, trying not to let her words affect him.
`That voice. I know that voice,' she pondered.
Her eyes wide with fear when she noticed his piercing sharp claws, slowly she stood ready to run away from the bloodthirsty beast; she then suddenly noticed her state of attire and quickly covered herself. Lucky for her, there laid a hefty sizeable stick that was beside her. Lifting it up to use as a weapon, she would not hesitate too use it against him. In her threatening stance, she narrowed her eyes at him, “Stay away from me, you beast. You come any closer and I will not think twice to use this.” She threatened, raising the stick above her head only to emphasize her point.
He had to give his dragon-lady credit; however, he reflected back towards his friend Miroku, `Damn, I wish he were here right at this moment. I could just see him wagering a bet to see if she would actually be able to kill him.' He laughed quietly at the simple notion.
After seeing him express his amusement, panic spread through her body. `He's going to kill me then eat me!' Without hesitation, she used the medium size stick and swung it like a baseball bat hitting her target dead on in the face. She heard him grunt in pain as she tried to run away. However, certain shoes would not help her in this situation. Quickly giving him one good smack in the back of the head, making sure he was down for the count; she quickly removed her stilettos while clumsily running away. She fell onto the hot sand, before getting up, and trying again. Desperate to gain her balance, adrenaline pumped through her veins pushing her forward. She was scared and needed to get away. Where was she to go? Looking around Kagome decided to head into the dense jungle, full of palms.
Inuyasha could not believe that she just whacked him in the head not once but twice. Anger racked through his very being. Feeling the soon to be lump on the back of his head, he winced when he could feel an open cut, feeling the warm blood spread through his fingers. He snarled, “This bitch is going to pay dearly, for her mistake.” Leaping up, he sniffed the air. A slight amusement set upon his now stoic face. He knew that she did not run far and followed her scent. Seeing the dips into the sand, he followed her footsteps before the ocean tides washed away their very existence.
She ran for dear life; she did not care that the lower branches were smacking her, leaving small abrasions on her arms, legs, shoulders, and face. Her pantyhose now ruined as they snagged any branch that reached out for her. She could feel the pain in her bare feet as she ran along the forest floor. None of those things mattered to her, all she wanted to do was escape the island alive and away from him.
A snapping of a twig stopped her dead in her tracks, her doe like eyes widened in fear, and her heart thrust hard in her chest, sweat dripped from her brow. She feverishly looked around not seeing anyone behind her. She stood as a deer caught in the headlights, any sound of noise and she would be off again.
“Snap!”
Kagome quickly retreated, not glancing back, contemplating which way to run, when an unsuspecting root tripped her. She fell into the soft moss covered ground with a resounding thud. Her hands dug into the forest floor anxiously. Fists grabbed loose particles of moss and dirt. A jolt of pain washed throughout her, while trying to stand again. When she tried to turn over and inspect her damaged foot, Inuyasha towered over her. She froze in her place, closing her eyes she awaited for the inevitable attack, yet none came.
“Bitch, just what in the fuck do you think you're doing running away from me like that? Not to mention, hitting me over the head? I should kill where you are just for that little stunt; however, I know I can think of a better punishment.”
Kagome quickly opened her eyes, hearing his threatening statement. Taking a better look at this vile creature before her, she noticed his amused expression. She knew what he was implying. `He wants to have sex with me!' Hazel met gold; she knew those eyes. Closing her eyes again, she imagined the voice with the dark haired man, `Was this the same man?' Again, she opened her eyes, staring contently into his. “Inuyasha…?”
Inuyasha growled, leering over her. He could see Kagome trying excessively to backpedal away from him, leaving a trail as her heals dug into the soft blanket of moss. His amused expression widened, as the dragon-lady before him was afraid. His sensitive ears listened to her frantic heartbeat; he could also smell fresh blood. With a stern look, he quickly grabbed her shoulders stopping her retreat.
His cold gaze was her confirmation; they were the very same eyes she looked upon when they first met-when he was angry. `All the fucking times to be an idiot and you just called him a monster. The same man you found desirable has dog ears!' She gasped when his grip tightened. She wanted to say something; she could not muster the words however, she could fight back the tears.
Inuyasha was amused at her trepidation, “I'll deal with you later wench right now we need to get this wound looked at.”
“Wench…! Who in the fuck are you calling a wench!” she yelled as her fear turned into anger. `Oh out of all the self righteous… egotistical…no good son of a bitch I just had to be trapped with him!' Kagome mentally screamed as she narrowed her eyes, glaring at him. “I don't know who you are or what you are, but, I wasn't stuck on this God forsaken island to be eaten by the likes of you! So stay the fuck away from me, Inuyasha- if that's even your true name!”
Inuyasha jumped taken back with her sudden outburst, he laughed, “Like I'd want to eat you. You're nothing but a weak human; sweetheart!”
Kagome growled at him, curling her hands in a fist, oh how bad she wanted to stand and face him. “Then why in the fuck did you save me?”
“Oh, I don't know. Maybe because I felt sorry for your bitchy ass!” he snorted, as he looked away from her. He knew the real reason for saving this ungrateful female.
“Then leave! What's keeping you here?” she threatened him, fighting the tears that slowly formed in her eyes. Her head felt like it was on fire, she was cold, tired, hungry and in a lot of pain.
“Because if I left you here, then that would truly make me a monster now wouldn't it!” He fussed sternly while scooping her up into his arms. He then ran back to camp, hoping that his fire did not die out.
Kagome once again rendered speechless. Now securely in his arms, she crossed her arms defiantly, contemplating whether to ask him or not. Kagome asked him, “So if you're not a monster, what the hell are you?”
“I'm a half demon, half dog, half human, my mother was human, and my father was full dog demon.”
Kagome huffed in his arms again, “Are there more like your kind?” she inquired.
Inuyasha stiffened, “What's with all the questions, sweetheart. Since when is who I am any of your fucking concern! You should be grateful that I even rescued you, `cause there sure the hell could have been someone else that probably that didn't talk as much as you. Not to mention nicer.”
“Yeah, well maybe if you weren't such an asshole! I wouldn't be such a bitch!” she goaded him further.
“Me- an asshole, if I recall you're the one who bit my head off for helping you on the plane, so it is you who are the asshole!”
They made it back to camp as the battle raged on.
“Mutt…!”
“Oh, now I'm a mutt!” Inuyasha growled, and then dropped her on her butt- next to the still burning fire.
Kagome yelped when her backside hit the ground, “Ouch! What the fuck did you do that for? And you're calling me the asshole!”
Inuyasha needed to get away from her. Forgetting about her recent injuries, he darted off into the jungle, exploring his very cruel prison with the dark haired beauty. `I think I will go hunt.'
Kagome sighed in relief when he finally fled. `Good riddance.' She crawled closer to the fire, finding her jacket nice and dry. She listened to the crackling of the fire and knew that if he didn't come back, she would have to fend for herself. `Fine just fine, I can do this,' she hoped. Glancing down at her foot, she could see the already purple and red bruising that lined the top of her swollen foot and the side of her ankle. Blood seeped through the cuts throughout her body. `I'm a mess,' she pondered. `How am I going to clean these wounds?' She knew that her ankle was not broken, nor her foot, she had a bad sprain.
When she tried to stand again, she felt the same jolt of pain spread through her very core, `There must be something in my foot.' Resting again, she brought her leg over, only to better access her foot. `There it is!' She could see a long sharp piece of splinter embedded on the bottom of her base. Slowly, she pulled it out but not without a loud gasp of pain. `I hope I got it all out,' she prayed as she wiped the tears away.
She removed her panty hose; there were large holes at the bottom of her soles, her legs looked like they've been through a shredder. She unclasped the ruined garment and threw it to the side. She did the same with the other side, and wondered if they would burn but thought against it. Kagome figured they might be good for something.
Slowly she tried to stand once again; this time, the pain was dulled. Limping towards the ocean, Kagome approached the descending tide only to feel it ascend onto her feet. The salt burned as it entered the open wounds; however, this was the only way she was able to clean the sand or whatever else decided to lay dormant under her skin.
She watched a starfish crawl around on the ocean floor. Looking into the horizon, she could not believe all that has happened to her in the length of twenty-four hours. She wondered if her mom and her younger brother were worried. `Had news spread, already? Will they ever know?' She began to cry, everything pent up emotion over the years gushed out of her eyes. She cried harder when she thought about her company and how it would crumble if she were not there to run it.
Standing up satisfied that she cleaned out her cuts; she limped back over to the dying fire, sighing when she realized that she needed more wood. Making her way around the area, she picked up any kindling she could find, and then hopped back over to the fire. Her stomach began to rumble as if protesting on its own accord.
The sun was setting and still no sign of Inuyasha. She managed to find some bright red berries on a shrub nearby. However, it did nothing to ease her hungry stomach. `How am I supposed to survive on berries?'
Inuyasha explored the whole island; he had found a waterfall with a fresh spring pond. There was plenty of game on the isle, as he watched monkeys jumping from tree to tree. Birds of all colors flew overhead; small mammals scurried under his feet, escaping his stride. Disappointed there was no big game, he decided to make quick work out of a couple of exotic birds.
Bringing his kill back to the campsite, he hesitated. `I should let her starve…no I can't do that, however I can make her beg… no, no, that won't do either-she will be begging me another time. No, I will have her clean dinner. Yes, that is what I will do.' Inuyasha chuckled at the mere thought. “Yes, my bitch will definitely be cleaning dinner,” he said, holding the two birds by their feet as their lifeless bodies dangled below.
He stepped out into the clearing; he could see the sun setting off in the distance as its pinkish-reddish rays reflected over the vast ocean. He smiled at the beauty before him; it soon ended when he could see the cold stare coming from her hardening eyes.
Without another thought, he approached her ignoring her cruel gaze. “If you want to eat, you better clean these.”
Kagome looked at him confused, “I have to do what?”
He repeated his statement; throwing the two carcasses before her then pointed down at the soon to be dinner, “I said if you want to eat tonight, you have to clean these birds. Is your hearing impaired as well?”
She huffed. “No, my hearing is just fine, you ass, although how in the hell do you expect me to clean these birds?” she retorted trying to fight the sickening urge in her gut.
Inuyasha laughed, he should have known. Picking up one of the birds, he started plucking the feathers out, “like this,” he said calmly. Throwing the bird back at her, he could not hide his amusement.
Picking up the foul again, she started plucking the feathers off the limp animal. Feeling its once warm body, she couldn't help but feel sorry for the creature. `And here he is making fun of me, while I am trying desperately not to be sick- Men!'
Forty-five minutes later, she finally finished cleaning the second bird.
“It's about time,” he snorted, while placing the birds on a steak he carved out from the driftwood.
“Well, it's not my fault I got sick. That was the grossest thing I had to do in my life.”
He twirled the steak in front of the fire and glared at her, “Get used to it, sweetheart. I don't know how long we're stuck here.”
“Go to hell, bastard!”
“I am already there. I see that boot is still in your ass…maybe tomorrow we will be able to remove it.”
“Fuck you!” Kagome yelled, crossing her arms around her chest as she narrowed her eyes at him.
“Well, if you insist, how about after dinner,” he replied with a lecherous grin that would make anyone's heart melt.
She looked at him; her hard stare turning into a lustful one, leaning closer to him she whispered seductively in his ear, “I would rather have fucked Koga than you…Inuyasha!” Returning to where she was resting a moment ago- ignoring his angry glare. She kept to the fire and her dinner before her.
Inuyasha knew she was goading him, starting another fight. He had enough of this game. With lightning speed he had her pinned below him, fangs poking out from his snarling mouth.
Kagome wiggled under him loosening the sand; her arms where held tightly above her head, “Let me go right now, Inuyasha!”
“No!”
“Get the fuck off me, you mangy mutt!”
“No, not until you tell me you're sorry.”
“What do I have to be sorry for?”
“Sorry for lying to me and telling me that you would have fucked that wolf when I smell your yearning for me,” Inuyasha said lustfully, moving his body on hers, trying to stop her squirming feet.
“I hate you, you bastard! Why in the hell, would I desire you!” she retorted. However, feeling the weight of his body on hers was sending her being into an arousing frenzy.
Inuyasha laughed, “I can smell you now, -I can smell that you want me as we speak.”
“Get off of me…!”
Inuyasha silenced her with a deafening kiss, as she protested under him. The kiss was brief feeling he made his point he released her and started to stand. Gazing down at the beauty before him, he could see her angry eyes glaring up at him.
Kagome wiped her lips off with the back of her hand, “You disgust me; how dare you touch me without my consent!”
“Ah, but my sweet dragon, your scent is suggesting otherwise. Here. Just shut up and eat,” he said while handing her the cooked fowl, “Before I kiss you again.”
After dinner, Inuyasha went back into the jungle only to emerge with some fallen palms. Laying them upon the sand, they would make good mats. He handed her the wilted plants, “Here! Sleep on these.”
Kagome looked at him hesitantly, “Thank you,” she whispered as she pulled her blazer over her exposed shoulders then fell into a peaceful slumber.
Inuyasha smiled, `That was the first time she said thank you and meant it.' He lay on his back; his hands behind his head, glaring up into the darken sky. He watched the stars twinkle; before his eyes became heavy, and he let, sleep overcome him as well.
