Chapter 1

Dreams

Kagome was in a strange room. It was pitch black and she could hear someone breathing and it wasn't her.

"Who's there?" Kagome asked shakily.

"That is something you don't need to know." Said a very masculine voice.

"Why am I here?"

"You have something I want." He said

"What is it that you want and how do you know I have it?"

All of a sudden she could see an outline of his arm, which happened to be pointing to the Shikon Shards that hung around her neck.

Kagome grasped the shards in her hand and took a step back and said "you can't have them."

The outline of the hand suddenly disappeared.

"Oh but I will have them in due time. I suggest you keep your hanyou near you at all times. I will be watching you. Oh and one more thing just a warning. Soon you will have to deal with something that will change your life forever. Not only that but your Miko power is getting stronger faster. Have fun with the challenges ahead."

With that Kagome woke up in a cold sweat clutching the Shikon shards while breathing hard.

`What did he mean by that. How did he know Inuyasha?'

Kagome then looked at her clock. It was just a few minutes before she had to get up and get ready for school. So she got up and went to take a shower trying to forget the dream. Maybe she could talk to Kaede about it when she went down the well after school.

Kagome walking into class couldn't help but think about the strange dream. What did he mean about her Miko powers getting stronger fast? And how did he know about Inuyasha? She shook her head clear of those thoughts when the teacher walked in.

As soon as the teacher started the lesson she started having a strange feeling. It was familiar but she couldn't place what it was. It felt like youkai a lot of them. And the feeling was all around her. But it couldn't be there was no youkai in her time.

She closed her eyes and concentrated. After a while she opened her eyes in surprise there were youkai and they were her classmates. How could she have not noticed this before?

She was so surprised she hadn't realized that the teacher had been asking if she was ok. She turned toward him and realized that he too was a youkai. Kagome couldn't take it all so she got up bowed and muttered an apology and ran out of the classroom.

Kagome ran and kept on running until she got to the well. She jumped in and then back out as soon as she landed and ran straight for Kaede's hut.

She hadn't even realized that standing next to the well were Sango, Miroku, and Shippo.

They just looked at her and they all ran after her worried.

Inuyasha was sitting on the Goshinboku when he smelled Kagome.

`She's not supposed to be here for a while longer.' That's when he smelt it. He had smelt fear mixed in her scent. Not a lot but enough to make it noticeable. Without a second thought he ran to her following her scent.

Kaede was making soup for lunch when Kagome unexpectedly barged in.

"Kaede-sama I need to talk to you."

"What is it child?"

Kagome took a deep breath and told Kaede about her dream and her encounter at school. After she told her story she watched as Kaede thought about what she had just heard.

"All I can say is that someone must have wanted you to know they were going to take the jewel. Your Miko power is getting stronger. I don't know how they knew about Inuyasha but they must know he is your protector."

"But what about me being able to sense the youkai in my time? I never noticed them before."

"They must have been hiding their aura and since you never thought that there could be youkai in your time you never noticed. The only reason you noticed it now is because your magic is indeed getting stronger."

"Oh. I never really did think youkai existed in my time. I should go back to my time to get my pack and tell Okaa-san I left school early." She stood up about to leave when she felt sleepy. `Why do I feel so tired all of a sudden?'

Inuyasha walked in the hut just in time to see Kagome pass out. But before she could hit the ground Inuyasha leapt forward to catch her.
