Chapter 25

What To Do

Inuyasha woke up and looked around. The sun was out and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Then he turned to his side and looked at Kagome. She was sleeping peacefully. She must have been tired from their activities that night because she was usually awake.

Inuyasha wondered how she figured out that biting him was a big turn on. He thought he was being to rough on her but she seemed to have enjoyed it. She was the one who changed the pace.

He moved his arm and rubbed her back. He was thinking he would have to wait a while for her to wake up. But she moved beside him.

"Good morning." She said.

"Good morning." He gave her a kiss. Kagome yawned. "Tired?"

"Mmm." Was all he got out of her. She rolled over and grabbed her clothes. Inuyasha saw her start to change and did the same. She sat up and stretched when she was fully clothed.

Inuyasha hugged her from behind. "Does your side hurt anymore? We could go back to the Kaede's village for some herbs."

"But Kaede's village is a couple days walk from here. It's ok I think I can manage."

"Are you sure?"

"Hai, it's easier now because we know how to stop the pain."

"Did anything else happen to the mark?"

"What do you mean nothing happened?"

"It turned red yesterday."

"It did?" Kagome lifted her shirt and pulled her skirt down a little. The mark was gone. She couldn't believe it. She touched where it was supposed to be. Nothing. There was nothing there. She squealed with joy and hugged Inuyasha.

"What?" He said. He couldn't see what she was doing.

"It's gone." She let him go and showed him.

"How did it just go away like that?"

"I don't know?"

"Come on let's go ask Sango or Miroku if they have any idea of what is going on."

They walked back to camp. It seemed that Sango and Miroku had just gotten up. Shippo jumped right into Kagome's arms when he saw them. She caught him and gave him a hug.

"Hey bouzo do you know anything about the mark on Kagome besides what Kaede told us?"

Miroku thought for a moment. "No it seems to be more of an old youkai mating thing. I would not know anything about it. I think only the old youkai would know."

"Dammit. Looks like we'll have to talk to Sesshomaru again."

"Why what's wrong?" Sango asked.

"Well the mark was gone this morning when I looked at it." Kagome said.

"Isn't that supposed to be a good thing?" Shippo asked.

"Well yeah but then what will Hojo do now? What if something worse happens? It's probably nothing but I just want to be sure."

"Well then why don't we go find Sesshomaru and ask him?" Miroku asked.

"We don't have any leads to where he would be." Inuyasha said.

"Well why don't we start off from where we left off last time? With the little girl with him he couldn't have gone far."

"I guess we could do that. It shouldn't be far from where we are now." Inuyasha said.

Kagome started cooking. It had been a while since she had actually done anything helpful. She boiled the water and took out some ramen. She was talking to Shippo.

After everyone had eaten they had all started out. They were now going the way they came to start off where they found Sesshomaru last time. It might take them a little longer than the last time.

They weren't even sure if he would answer their question this time. He only answered it that one time because of Rin. They would deal with it when the time came.

Kagome stopped. She couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching her. She turned around and looked. There was nothing there. If there was she was sure Inuyasha would've smelled them by now.

"What is it?" Inuyasha asked.

"It's nothing." Kagome said and started walking again.

They had walked for hours. They finally took a rest so they could eat lunch. While Kagome and Sango were cooking Miroku and Inuyasha looked for wood for the fire. Shippo was taking a nap next to Kagome.

He seemed to have been a little sad lately. For the last two nights since she had mated with Inuyasha he hadn't seen much of her. Sure he saw her when they walked but it wasn't the same.

He was used to sleeping with her every night. The last two nights he slept alone. She would let him sleep with them tonight. She felt kind of bad for neglecting him. She would bring him something very nice the next time she went to the well.

They all ate and started on the road again. Kagome was on Inuyasha's back with Shippo and Sango and Miroku were riding on Kirara. They didn't stop until it was time to eat dinner.

They made camp and cooked some soup. The day was pretty much uneventful after finding out about the mark. It was nice to have a break from the chaos though.

After they ate they all turned in for the night. Kagome told Inuyasha about staying there for the night because of Shippo. He didn't want to but he listened to her. Shippo was happy that they were staying there for the night. Inuyasha smiled.

It was dark and strangely quiet. Kagome looked around and it was pitch black. She was starting to feel a little nervous. This is usually how it started before Hojo showed up.

"Hello Kagome."

Kagome screamed and turned around. She just stood there with a hand over her heart. "What do you want now?"

"I want nothing as of this moment. I know you and the hanyou mated." He said in a distasteful voice. "I'm very mad at you right now."

"So, what are you going to do about it?"

"Nothing now. I have been working on something for some time now. It will be put to work later on."

"You can't do anything anymore. Your mark is gone."

"Is it now. That does tend to happen when you fully mate with someone. But no worries I'll just kill him and get you back."

"You can't just kill him. I won't let you."

"When I'm through with you you'll wish you never met him."

"What are you going to do to me?" Kagome asked taking a step back.

In an instant he was in front of her. He grabbed her wrists. "You disobeyed me. Just because the mark is gone doesn't mean I can't punish you. Once the hanyou is dead I will make sure you won't do anything like that again."

Kagome winced. Her wrists were hurting badly. He let go and disappeared. She was still in the darkness. She could see her wrists bruising. How could that happen if it were a dream?

Kagome woke up. She sat up and looked at her wrists. They were bruised. She got up and went to her pack. No one had woken up. It was still late.

Kagome grabbed the first aid kit and grabbed some bandages. Then she took some herbs that were for bruises and put them on her wrist. She couldn't do it without hurting herself.

She was going to need some help. She really didn't want to bother anyone right now but she didn't have a choice. She decided that she should try waking Sango. She would at least keep it quiet until the morning.

"Sango." She whispered hoping it would wake her. She tried again. Nothing. She said her name one last time but managed to wake everyone on accident.

`So much for waiting till morning.'

"What's wrong Kagome-chan?" Sango asked.

"Well I only wanted you awake for this right now but since everyone is awake I might as well tell you." Kagome said. "Could you come help me with this first?"

Sango nodded and walked over to her. When she was close enough she saw the bruise. She gasped and that caught the attention of everyone else. Inuyasha ran over and looked.

"How the fuck did this happen?" He yelled.

"Not so loud I'll tell you when I get these bandaged." Kagome said.

Everyone waited impatiently for Sango to wrap Kagome's wrists. When she was done she was asked to explain what happened. More like forced but she sighed and told them what happened anyway. She was not looking forward to Inuyasha's reaction.

She had told everyone what happened in her dream. Everyone was quiet and it was starting to make Kagome nervous. She didn't know what to do. She felt guilty for sucking them into this whole mess with her.

"Gomen." Kagome said.

"What are you sorry for Kagome-chan?" Sango asked.

"I'm getting you sucked into this with me. I've been a distraction to our shard hunt lately. I didn't mean to." Kagome said with her head down.

Inuyasha saw her sad look. He didn't want her to cry. Besides he didn't care about the shards so much now that he had her. He wrapped his arms around her. "Kagome we got sucked into this ourselves. If we didn't want to help we wouldn't have come."

"Inuyasha is right Kagome-sama. We are your friends and we want to help you." Miroku said. Sango nodded.

Kagome smiled and hugged Inuyasha. "So, what do we do now?"

Without hesitation Inuyasha said, "I say we hunt that fucker down."

"We should but we have no leads to where he would be." Miroku said.

"Although we could ask Kouga. He went looking for him a while ago remember? Maybe he knows something."

"But he'll try to take Kagome away." Inuyasha said.

"But now that you've mated shouldn't that not be a problem anymore?"

"Let's try it. We don't have much of a choice."

"Fine we'll ask Kouga. Let's head to Kaede's village first."

"I would like to go to my time. I want to make sure Okaa-san knows what's going on so if anything happens there she can tell me."

"Fine let's go back to sleep." Inuyasha said.

Everyone went back to their sleeping bags and laid down. Kagome was the first to drift off. One by one everyone followed. Inuyasha was the last one to fall asleep. He stayed up a little longer to think.

Does he really love Kagome so much that he didn't want the Shikon no Tama anymore? He looked at her. She was sleeping with a smile on her face. He did love her a lot. He never told her though. She never said it to him either.

He thought he should tell her soon. Those were not the kind of words to be taken lightly. He went to sleep. Keeping an ear to any dangers that would hurt his mate, pup, and friends.
