Happier This Way

 

Sesshoumaru didn't know how it had happened. One minute he was watching Rin pick up that strange pink jewel, and the next he was in his true youkai form. Villagers scurried around underfoot, appearing as ants from his lofty vantage point. Then, with a sinking feeling, he realized they really were ants. Suddenly he found himself lifted high in the air, enormous hands supporting him around his midsection.

 

“Oh, look at my little Sesshoumaru-sama!” a girlish voice cried in jubilation. “He's so adorable!”

 

Return this Sesshoumaru to his proper form at once, Rin! Sesshoumaru tried to say, but all that came out was a high-pitched “Yip!”

 

“How cute! Come on, Sesshoumaru-sama, can't you say `Rin?'”

 

Rin! Return this— “Yip!”

 

“Come on, Sesshoumaru-sama! Say my name!”

 

Oh, fuck me right up the— “Yip!”

 

“Oh, well,” Rin said, “we have plenty of time to train you to talk. I'm going to keep you and hug you and dress you up and kiss you forever and ever and ever…” Sesshoumaru's eyes widened, in part from sheer horror and also partly because Rin was currently squeezing the life out of him with one of her `hugs.' She was a pre-pubescent deathtrap for heaven's sake! But apparently even deathtraps have consciences…

 

“He doesn't look too happy, Jaken. Should we change him back?” Now Sesshoumaru's amber eyes were larger than ever, openly pleading with his once knee-high servant.

 

Please, Jaken, I swear to all the Kami that I'll never kick you again… “Yip!” To the once proud Inu-youkai's everlasting dismay, the green imp only smiled evilly.

 

“I don't know, Rin. He looks happier this way.” Apparently, that was all the assurance the young girl needed. She proceeded to skip off into the sunset, her new puppy held tightly in her embrace.

 

“Oh, my little Sesshoumaru-sama, we're gonna be together forever and ever and ever…”

 

Sesshoumaru hung his head, contemplating the slowest and most gruesome way to kill himself.
