Snow Day
Kagome smiled as she watched the mayhem going on around her. School had been cancelled due to the three feet of snow which had been dumped on Tokyo overnight, and Souta's friends had unanimously decided that the Higurashi shrine was the best place for a snowball fight.
“Come on, is that all you got?!” Inuyasha yelled, taunting the pack of adolescent boys trying in vain to hit him. And yet, every missile the hanyou threw seemed to find the mark. Souta had clearly bitten off more than he could chew when he coaxed Inuyasha into joining the snowball fight.
“Help us, Souta's sister!” one of the boys cried as he ran up to her. “He's killing us!” It was wonderful seeing Inuyasha act so carefree, but she supposed it was probably time to come to the boys' rescue.
“Alright, Inuyasha, I think you've pummeled them enough,” she said. Inuyasha rolled his eyes, but nodded in compliance. Kagome turned to go back inside.
Thunk!
It took several seconds for Kagome to realize what had happened, and she turned around extra slowly with a withering glare.
“You hit me with a snowball!” she shouted.
“So? It ain't like it's gonna hurt ya,” Inuyasha replied. Narrowing her eyes, Kagome stooped and scooped up a handful of snow, retaliation on her mind. The battle began anew, with the boys mounting a coordinated attack behind their new leader. Faced with such a force, Inuyasha utilized his secret weapon.
“Super Inu Digging Wave!” he roared, turning his back on his attackers and flinging endless handfuls of snow through his legs in a machine gun-like torrent. Five minutes later, the boys were in the house drinking hot cocoa, and Kagome was giggling from her position half-buried in a miniature snow bank. The great battle was over.
