Chapter Three
Small Hanyou in the Big Tokyo
Kagome woke up after her alarm clock screamed at her. She sat up, rubbing her eyes, and when she looked up at her bed, she saw Inuyasha staring at her.
"You know," he started, "you looked kinda-"
*WHACK*
Inuyasha rubbed his cheek where Kagome's hand had made contact. Gods, she didn't know how bad it stung! "If you'd stop with the violence, maybe you'd thank me for what I had to say!"
Kagome glared at him and nodded for him to continue. She had a feeling she knew what he was going to say. What else would he have to say to her the moment she awoke?
"Kagome, you looked real calm and peaceful while you were sleeping…though I'd better watch out when you wake up…" he grumbled.
"You know," Kagome huffed. "You could always go back and wait for me to come back. Instead, you're going to wait here and waste your time, when you can find out more about Naraku, and his shards!" Kagome jumped up and grabbed Inuyasha's hair. "If you weren't so persistent, we'd get along much better."
Kagome gasped as Inuyasha picked her hand from his hair, and held onto her wrist. "Would you just shut up for a minute? I was gonna tell ya that-." He stopped abruptly. He couldn't tell her that he was worried that she'd be with another guy while he was there. He just couldn't! She'd know he had feelings for her then, and Inuyasha wouldn't be able to look her straight in the face. It was so much easier just to talk to her like he'd talk to any normal human. Even if it was tough.
"You were gonna tell me what?" Kagome stood in front of him in her nightgown, hands on hips, a glare in her eyes. She hated it when he kept things from her. If he just told her what he wanted to say, she'd be able to understand him better.
"N-nothing…it's nothing…" It's just that I wish that you wanted me as bad as I do you, he thought with remorse. He wanted to be with Kagome and be sure that it was what she wanted. If she didn't, he'd be forcing her to love him. He couldn't do that to her.
"What-EVER! You're so weird, Inuyasha." Kagome turned to her closet and picked out clothes for a nice, peaceful Saturday afternoon. She laid her clothing on the foot of the bed, and started to undress, when she remembered Inuyasha was still in the room. "Inuyasha, do you intend to stay here and watch me?" she said, flattening her eyes.
"H-Huh? O-oh, no, I-I'll leave now…" Inuyasha stumbled off the bed and strolled out the door. Damn. He was hoping that Kagome wouldn't remember he was still in the room. Oh well. He might have his chance later… He smiled at the thought of Kagome standing naked in front of him, inviting him to join her in the small pond back in his time.
I shouldn't think that! He shook his head, punishing himself for thinking such vile, disgusting thoughts. Even if they were pleasurable. He leaned against the wall of Kagome's room and waited for her to finish dressing.
Kagome slammed the door open and stared at Inuyasha. "Inuyasha, what are you doing?" He had a far off look in his eyes, and his brow was creased. What could he be thinking about?
Inuyasha broke from his trance. "H-huh? Oh, nothing. Just waiting…. to get dressed…" Inuyasha squirmed uncomfortably, and almost scooted away from Kagome. What are you doing?! You retard! Act normally! Just get dressed and go explore! And quit thinking those nasty thoughts…perv…
Inuyasha had a frustrated look on his face, making Kagome eye him suspiciously. "Inuyasha, if you needed to get dressed, you should have told me. I would have handed you your clothes and you could've gone down the hall to the bathroom. Speaking of clothes, I don't think that you're Fire Rat kimono would fit in very well here… Hmmm…Oh! I know! I'll take you shopping later today. Luckily, it's Saturday…" she stopped short, noticing Inuyasha's strange behavior. What's up with him today?
"Yeah, sure…" Just as long as it's just you and me… No Hojo involved, no one else that would get more of Kagome's attention than Inuyasha. Actually, he wouldn't mind trying on clothes in front of Kagome. She seemed to know about all the latest fashions in her time. Of course, there really wasn't any thing such as fashion back in his era.
Inuyasha went and grabbed his kimono and gi, along with his trousers. Fortunately, or unfortunately, depends on whose point of view you look at it from, he knew how to put that set of clothing on. When he was ready, Inuyasha and Kagome ran out of the Higure shrine, down the stairs, and towards the mall. As they walked down the sidewalk, Kagome couldn't help but notice the crowd of people staring at Inuyasha. Who could blame them? Besides his hair, eyes, and doggie ears, his outfit was a true mystery. No one could figure out why the hell he'd be wearing that shit.
Kagome was tired of seeing everyone point fingers and whisper into each other's ears, so she grabbed hold of Inuyasha's hand, gave him a look to keep his mouth shut, and pulled him as fast as possible so they could reach the mall faster.
Kagome was about to turn around and slap Inuyasha. He was slowing them down by staring at the buildings, cars, and people. He'd try and stop Kagome so he could go up and touch, sniff, or look at something. Kagome would just say, "Inuyasha, keep going!" and pull him harder.
If he asks to look at something else, I swear I'll punch him!!! He's just like a little kid! Kagome pushed these thoughts out of her mind and concentrated on getting to the mall in a descent amount of time. They might actually make it by noon if they hurry, but at this rate, it might be three o'clock before they get there. God, please help me get this idiotic nincompoop to the mall so I can make him look like an average teen boy! Kagome silently prayed.
"Hey, Kagome, stop for a sec. I think I see someone."
"Inuyasha, I've had enough!" Kagome turned around and glared fiercely at him. " `Kagome, stop, look at that! Kagome, stop, do you hear that? Kagome, stop, you smell that?'" she mimicked. "Of course, I do! I've lived here all my life! So, just shut up until we get to the mall. Do you realize how embarrassing you are? You're like my little brother, only older!" She grabbed his wrist once again and with new determination, dragged Inuyasha, who was keeping quiet, up the mall steps and into the nearest clothes store.
She didn't realize it, but Kagome had dragged Inuyasha into one of the best clothing stores in the mall. Here, all the latest fashion was available.
"OOOOOOOOOHHHH!!!" Kagome shrieked to find there was a sale on pants and shirts. Both for men and women. "Inuyasha, I want you to look around here and tell me what you like. Of course, if I like it, I'll get it for you, but if I don't, you ain't gettin' it. And it'll also depend on the price." Kagome shoved Inuyasha towards the men's section and ordered him to choose a shirt and pants. He picked out a Hawaiian print and some khaki shorts.
"Now, where are those dressing rooms…? Aha! There they are! Now, Inuyasha, please tell me you remember what I helped you with last night. I don't think they'd lemme in their with you."
"What, you mean putting on the shirts and pants? Duh! Of course I do, stupid!" Inuyasha knew right then that wasn't the best thing to say. "Um, Kag-Kagome, sorry, I-I didn't mean it. Really!" He scrunched up his face, preparing to be "sat".
"It's okay, Inuyasha. Just head in there and put on your clothes." Kagome pointed to the nearest dressing stall and sat down in a chair by the wall. She looked around for a table with magazines, like they usually have, and found a magazine that she liked. She flipped through it to see if there was any interesting articles in it, found one, and started to read. If only she was looking at Inuyasha, because if she was, she'd be laughing her head off.
Inuyasha just stood there and gawked at her. Was she okay? She didn't seem to care that he'd called her stupid. He decided that he'd better do as he was told or else she just might make him "sit." He shuddered at the very thought of him going face first into the carpet, and then everyone laughing at him like he'd tripped.
Before he left, Kagome looked up at him and gave him a puzzled look. Why was he staring at her like that? It wasn't like she was being extra special to him or anything. She even let that comment he said about her being stupid slip. She just didn't feel like hurting him today. For some reason, she was really tired of doing that to him.
Kagome resumed to reading her magazine as Inuyasha left for the dressing room. In a few minutes, Inuyasha came out into the main room, and turned to Kagome, who almost shrieked. He had his shirt over his legs, exposing his…a-HEM…manly-hood, and his pants were over his arms, and he was struggling to get his head through the seam. "INUYASHA! Stop, stop! Go back in there and wait for me to get there." She turned him around (whew! No more…um…ee-yeah) and shoved him into his dressing room. She sighed, and felt like she was going through déjà vu. Well, better get it over with. Another sigh and, after looking around to make sure no one was watching, she stepped into the room to help Inuyasha get properly dressed.
