Last time:

“Where?” he asked over the radio.

Koden silently raised two fingers and pointed in the direction that the noise came from. The watched as a figure came out to the edge of the stream. Hiding in the rushes, Kyohaku nearly fell over when he recognized the armor on the figure. Koden gave him a questioning look, Kyohaku looked like he was about to jump out and talk to the person, but Koden grabbed his arm, sending her off balance which sent her tumbling into the water. The last thing she heard on the radio before she went under water was `It's my dad.'

******************************************************

Koden fumbled with her facial gear, trying to find the small button that switches it to underwater mode, so that she could breathe. She was having no luck as the stream started to sweep her down from Kyohaku's position.

`Be fucking damned if I'm going to die in this era and not complete the war with the old man.'

Just as she was about to hit the elusive button, the current picked up suddenly and smashed her body against the hidden rocks and fallen logs. She was growing short on breath and just as she was about to break surface, her foot jammed between two rocks. Koden fought against the current, trying to free her foot, she saw the blackness creeping in on her vision, her lungs burned for air.

`Dad…Uncle…K...kyo…some… one…help………'

Koden let her body relax and let her body sway on the currents, just as she was going to let out her last breath, she closed her eyes.

`If I die here, I swear Kami; you better birth me right in the middle of a battle field of the war, right beside my family. Otherwise I will be having words with you.'

Koden slowly let out her breath as she said her silent goodbyes to her family. She let her head lull back in the underwater current, just as she was to let go of everything, she felt two arms hook under hers and hoisting her out of the water. She felt another set of hands about her foot prying the rock open to free her. She broke the surface of the water and started gasping for breath, using every known curse word between deep breaths. She shook off the hands holding her and sat down in the calmer water. That's when she noticed Kyohaku has his head gear off.

`Idiot'

“Koden, take off your gear, we have to present ourselves just as we did to the young General.” Kyohaku quietly said as he sat on his haunches close to her. They both looked at a very stunned Kouga, who was standing on the stream bank. Koden not wanting to give her voice away, due to it sounded like his rivals of this time, signaled Kyohaku to go first. Kyohaku nodded and then walked to the stream side with Koden.

“Prince Kouga, my name is Kyohaku. This is my associate Koden. We are not from this time, we like your friend Kagome, come from a different time. We are Commanders in the Youkai Army.” He formally stated with a small bow.

`Kyo, why in the hell do you have to be so damn formal and beat around the bush.' Koden snorted.

“Well I sort of gathered that,” Kouga huffed. “Now tell me why I can't pick up any scent from your friend and why in the hell you smell like me.”

“Commander Kouga,” Kyohaku started, but Koden interrupted. “Kyo, baby, your so damn long winded it makes me yawn sometimes.” Koden snorted and glanced at him. She then turned and walked right up to Kouga who was looking her over in her soldier gear. Without taking off her facial gear she started, “It's simple Kouga, he's your son from the future, and I,” she paused so that she could take off her helmet and face coverings which released her scent. Kouga's eyes widened as she finished. “And I am Inuyasha's daughter from the future.”

(AN - could have left it on a cliffy but I got lots of those planned..lol)

Koden grinned as she watched Kouga take in the information. She watched his eyes which relayed shock, disbelief and finally some sense of acceptance. She secured her gear to her belt and stood beside Kyohaku who was waiting for his younger father to process the information. Koden glanced at him; she could tell he was itching to ask him a thousand questions, to know this version of his father. Koden snapped out of her thoughts as Kouga spoke.

“Ok, so if I'm your father, then who's your mother?” he asked not really wanting to hear the answer. Kyohaku gave him a dull look and flatly replied, “My mother is Lady Ayame.” Kouga nearly fell over with this news. He sputtered and snorted and finally crossed his arms over his chest and replied, “Whatever.” Then he turned on Koden and looked at her closely.

“So, if mutt face is your old man,” Kouga started and paused when he heard Koden growled deep in her throat, she knew what he was going to ask her, and she didn't want to speak her name. “Then who is your mother?” questioned Kouga with a light sniff, trying to figure out her parentage on his own.

Koden clenched her teeth together, and began to fist and unfist her hands. Kyohaku could smell the rage roll off of her, and Kouga was surprised as the scent spiked in his nose. Koden closed her eyes tight and ground out, “I will not speak the name of that bitch, I vowed on the day she took me to take away my youkai abilities, I would never say her name or acknowledge her again. She is a nigen, who is no better than the other petty bitches of my time.” With that Koden turned on her heel, and walked back to their camp.

“Koden disowned her mother; she refuses to speak about her. She is Commander Inuyasha's daughter, and nothing more.” Kyohaku tried to explain. He lowered his voice in a whisper and he sat in the bank close to Kouga. “Her mother is Kagome Higurashi. But no one breaths that name around her or Commander Inuyasha. That name has been black marked from all of their personal files. The one person we thought would support us in the long run, turned her back on us.” He spoke slowly with sadness.

Kouga looked at Kyohaku with utter shock. This Kagome they spoke of was not the one he knew, she would not turn her back on her friends, or loved ones. Kyohaku looked over at Kouga, intercepted his look and knew what he was thinking. Reaching behind him he took his guns out from their holsters and began to check them over while speaking.

“Things happen Da…I mean Kouga. The world has changed. Both of them hate her because she made Inuyasha complete the Act of Faith, which stripped him of all of his youkai abilities, and she tried to do the same to Koden, just so they could `fit in' with society. Stupid woman didn't even realize there was a damn war surrounding us, threatening to crush us, and she was worried about how her mate and daughter would look at social gatherings.” He snorted as he clicked his guns to load and replaced them back to their holsters.

Kouga was speechless, he knew what these two soldiers from the future said was true, he could sense it and their scent gave no hint of betrayal. Kouga looked over to Kyohaku and sized him up.

`Kyohaku huh? Means `big shot', sounds like something I would name a pup. Good strong pup, mate loyal and honourable. His calm and cool must come from Ayame. Ayame, well she is strong and a leader. Maybe just maybe the future won't be so bad.'

Kouga snapped out of his revere when Kyohaku began to speak softly again. “Koden still protects the shrine and Kagome's family since she left them in the dust too. The bad blood start just at the beginning of the war, our wedding was coming up and we received information that Kagome was in danger. Koden and Commander Inuyasha went to make sure she was safe and that's when she turned on us.”

*~ Flashback ~*

*Kyohaku's POV*

We arrived at the Tokyo Imperial Gardens, a large gathering was happening, celebrating some stupid accomplishment that has nothing to do with the war surrounding us.

Koden, Commander Inuyasha and myself, stepped out of a Youkai Army vehicle and were in full gear. Each of us had twin energy guns strapped to our lower backs, Koden had Koudou, and her old man had Tetsusaiga strapped to their hips. I had my scythe chain, Kyoushu. We just received the information that Kagome was in danger and went to the scene immediately.

“Kyo, old man, keep your gear on, last thing I need to deal with is one of Mom's snits because we are dragging her away from her little social gossip fest.” Koden voice came through our radio sets. Both of us nodded to her in agreement.

We started walking from the vehicle, our heavy boots echoing off of the pavement. I snorted as I watched the people around us look us over and step back a few paces when they recognized the Youkai Army crests that donned our Kevlar vests. I watched as they whispered to one another. It was Commander Inuyasha that broke the radio silence.

“Ya think they have never seen fucking soldiers before. Dumb asses, don't the realize that we can hear them.” He snorted.

Old man, they probably think we have had the Act of Faith on us. Mom is going to cause a scene I know she is.” Koden sneered as we reached the doorway of the entrance.

A silent agreement, radio silence until we find Kagome. Commander Inuyasha signaled us silently for me to flank right, Koden left and he was down the middle. We stayed in a line, walking through the party. People stepped out of way like we were fatal if they touched us. I was just about to turn around and retrace my steps when something caught my attention. I was the first to spot Kagome.

She was in a formal gown, soft blue like sea water, her hair pinned up and she was wearing perfume. She smiled at the man next to her and laughed softly as she touched his arm lightly.

`No wonder we couldn't sniff her out, she's got so much false scent on her, whew! Snit fit at 11 o'clock, here we come'

“Koden, Commander Inuyasha,” I broke radio silence and swallowed slowly. “She at the bar, back right corner.” I watched both of them make their way to my position. “I know this looks bad you two, but we can't let on who we are, not here.” I reminded them, I could hear both of them huffing under their masks, I knew what they were thinking and I knew what they wanted to do. All of us stepped forward towards her and I watched as she stopped laughing and noticed us. She had no clue as to who we were.

“Yes, can I help you.” She asked us politely.

“Kagome Higurashi, would you please come with us. We have information that you are in danger, we were sent for your protection.” I tried to speak with as much authority as I could muster. Koden made a move to take her arm gently but she snapped it back and looked at us.

“The only reason I am in danger, is because my baka husband and daughter had to run and join the youkai army.” She spat out. I watched as both Koden and Commander Inuyasha tensed, and started growling low in their throats. “I don't care about your stupid little war; I'm done my fighting days. You tell them that, I have enough miko powers to protect myself and hold my own.” She snorted.

“Kagome,” the other man started, “It's not just their war, it's everyone's.”

`At least someone gets it, yeesh.'

“Hojo, no offence but I've been through this, I want peace in my life, and the only peace I find lately is when I'm around you. My husband and daughter are too busy planning the next great upset.” She spoke mockingly.

Koden advanced on her suddenly and grabbed her arm and started dragging her literally out of the gathering, growling the whole way. Half way through the gardens she stopped suddenly and sniffed.

“We have visitors.” She growled over the radio. The three of them triangled around Kagome, drew their guns and slowly walked out. Everyone was skittering away from them just as two cyborg units landed beside them and advanced on them.

“Obtain Kagome Higurashi.” It spoke with its broken mechanical voice.

“Get her out of here!” barked Koden, we turned and ran towards the vehicle, I briefly glimpsed back as I heard a bellow of “Twin Dragon Death!” I watched as people ran and part of the building collapsed.

I put Kagome in the back of the Youkai Hummer and secured the locks so that it could only be opened from the outside. I jumped in the back with her and Commander Inuyasha jumped in the driver's side. He started the vehicle and started to drive towards the collapsing building, I knew he saw Koden running for the vehicle, but he didn't stop, she jumped on the roll bars while it was still in motion. Commander Inuyasha took off towards headquarters as Koden climbed in the front passenger seat. She panted for breath and gave the ok sign to both of us.

The short drive was quiet and tense. Kagome sat in the back, with her arms crossed over her chest, huffing and mumbling under her breath about ruined evenings and idiot husbands. We finally arrived at headquarters, parking the Hummer; Koden shot out of the vehicle and yanked Kagome's door open and hauled her out. She entered the building with me and Koden on either side of her and Commander Inuyasha was leading the way.

We entered a large office and Kagome crossed her arms again and huffed. Then it came down to the crunch. General Sesshomaru entered the office and looked Kagome over. Koden's old man whirled around and leaned back against his desk, crossing his ankles and then his arms.

“General.” I said formally bowing.

“Sesshomaru.” Kagome whispered with astonishment.

“You were successful I see, anything else I should know?” he questioned while looking at the fidgeting Kagome. Koden tossed a small disk at him and he snatched it out of mid air and inserted it into a small player of sorts.

The silence was broken by the recorded voice of Kagome. We turned to her and watched as she was shocked into a stupor. Sesshomaru's gazed narrowed as she called both his brother and niece stupid for joining the youkai army on the recorded disk.

“What did I tell you about wearing your gear in my office.” He questioned them all while keeping his gaze on Kagome. I could hear Koden's smirk as all three of us slid of our head gear revealing who we were to Kagome. Koden stood there with her helmet balancing off of her hip and smirked.

“So me and the old man are stupid now, be careful mother, enemy territory is a dangerous place.” She sneered.

“Wench, what was with that Hobo guy? I'm out trying to make your world peaceful and your flirting with humans?!” he huffed looking away.

Kagome looked like a deer caught in headlights. She was actually stunned.

`So much for the big mouth she had back at the party', I thought and snorted. She started to shake and sob. Her one clear whisper made it clear we couldn't rely on her anymore.

“I don't want this anymore, leave me be, I want to be normal, like the other humans.”

*~ End of Flashback~*

Kouga sat there on the stream bank stunned. He watched Kyohaku lay back into the tall grass and sigh deeply. “Me and Koden can't get over how pure this era is, the stars are beautiful, we can't even see the stars in our time. We would sit and listen to the stories you and Inuyasha would tell us about this time. We wished to see it for ourselves, we didn't actually think it would happen.” He spoke quietly. Kyohaku then sat up and gazed towards the direction of camp and sniffed.

“Something isn't right with Koden.” He spoke with alarm. He stood and plowed back through the stream with Kouga. He hit the other side running; Kouga couldn't get over how fast he was even without shards in his legs. Both Kyohaku and Kouga ran to their camp to find Koden, under her survival blanket shivering and moaning in pain.

“Kyo,” she breathed, “I don't know what's wrong, I was fine one minute,” she paused to breath, “and the next I'm like this.” Kyohaku ripped his survival blanket out of his thigh side pocket and wrapped it around Koden. She tried to smile but a soft whine of pain slipped from her throat. Her eyes fluttered closed as Kyohaku was kneeling down to take her vitals. He froze when he saw how shallow her breathing had become.

“Dammit,” he muttered, “I need to get her into some real shelter. Know of any place close?” he questioned Kouga. Kouga stood for a second and thought hard.

“There is one,” he started, “to the west, 15 minute run for you, there is a healer there, but if its guardian and his wench are there, you might have problems.”

Kyohaku stomped out the small fire and hoisted Koden from the ground bridal style. “Don't care; I'll deal with it if it comes to that. She needs to be out of the night air right now.” He grunted as he began to walk. “You coming Dad?” he questioned without thinking. Kouga smirked and walked beside him.

`Oh hell yes, if I get to see that mutt face off with his daughter and my son, this should be good.'

And Kouga grinned the whole way while talking with Kyohaku about his time.

AN - I warned you I would be mean to Kags in this one, so don't tell me I didn't give you warning. Like? Dislike? Wanna flame? Go for it…lets me know someone is reading this. Almost 100 hits and no reviews, good thing I like writing this story. Keh!
