Tears of Blood
Chapter Two
xXx
"Inuyasha, why wont you tell me what really happened!?" Shippou spoke harshly, though not loud enough to wake Kagome. "Come on, how stupid how stupid do you think I am? I know Okaasan didn't fall, she smells different. She has two different smells. One's unnatural like it's hurting her. The other one is… well I'll use my imagination," he folded his arms. Inuyasha looked dumbfounded.
"I swear if you don't tell me how old you really are I'll hit you in the head," the hanyou tried unsuccessfully to change the subject.
"I'm not dumb Inuyasha. I can guess what happened." Inuyasha gave him another blank look. Shippou rubbed his head in frustration "You have to tell me what did it," he said getting to the point. Inuyasha glanced at him hesitantly then to Kagome.
"It was a snake youkai," he said finally. Shippou froze, his face cold and emotionless.
"Please tell me you did not just say 'snake youkai'?" he said, his voice cracking.
"Why?" Inuyasha's suspicions growing to new heights. Shippou inhaled deeply before speaking
"Snake youkai get paid one way or another to do their 'job', which is done to human females. Their job is to internally inject the females with a powerful and deadly poison. There is only one known way to get rid of the poison. Get the same youkai who injected the poison, extract it from the snakes tail and neutralize it with a healing herb."
"Damn," Inuyasha swore again.
"Every snake youkai has his own distinct poison," Shippou continued.
"What's the probability of that happening?" the hanyou asked.
"Well all I know is that it's only been done once, and that was because the snake loved the human," Shippou spoke matter of factly.
"Damn!"
"However, there is another way to get rid of it. Only a hand full of others now it," the kit paused.
"How do you know this?!" Inuyasha asked suspiciously. Shippou shrugged his shoulders.
"I hear things," he lied.
"I don't believe you," Inuyasha said defiantly.
"Just shut up," he replied not wanting to tell him anything more than he needed to know. "I still have to tell you about-" he was cut off by Kagome's crying.
"Inuyasha!"
xXx
'There is no escape, miko,' the voice laughed.
'Inuyasha!' she ran to his fading image. It disappeared, and Yuko's image appeared then disappeared.
'Keep calling that worthless hanyou,' the voice sneered. 'In the end he WILL reject and leave you. No matter how much you give your heart out to him, the result will be the same. He'll just forget you when you die,' the haunting voice continued to laugh. Tears of despair streamed down her cheeks.
'NO! That's not true,' she yelled back.
'Say what ever you want, it won't chance anything,' it snickered
"Inuyasha!"

"Kagome," he said softly.
"Oh Inuyasha," she cried and again wrapping her arms around his chest. She just cried, not realizing Shippou was there.
"It's alright Kagome," he said cradling her in his arms.
"I'm even haunted in my dreams," she sobbed.
"That's all it is, a dream," he reasoned with her softly.
"Okaasan are you ok?" Shippou asked.
"Shippou-chan, I'm sorry I didn't want you to see me cry," she said wiping at her tears.
"It's alright, you can cry," he said worriedly. He took a deep breath before he started to talk. "I know about snake youkai and what they do," dropping his head to his chest as if ashamed of something.
"What. How?" she said looking at Inuyasha and getting angry.
"I didn't say a thing, he was the one who told me about the snake youkai," he said in his defense.
"Shippou-chan?!" she asked, not believing her kitsune could know that. "What do you know about the snake youkai," she asked him. Shippou looked at Inuyasha, who slightly nodded his head. He than looked at Kagome and took a deep breath.
"The snake youkai inject a human female with a deadly poison that comes from their tail. There is two ways to get rid of the poison," he paused not looking at the two. "One way is to get the same youkai, extract the poison and neutralize it with a healing herb, but that's highly unlikely to happen," he finished.
"What's the other way," she asked when he stopped talking. She was almost afraid of what he was going to say.
"The other was is to inject the human with healthy youkai blood," he said. Kagome let out a breath if air.
"That's not so bad," she said but than looked at him. She didn't like the face he had on.
"However," he continued, "the blood of the youkai injected in the human will most likely take over. There will be almost no human blood left in them," he finished, still not looking at her.
"But she will still be alive," Inuyasha said.
"Yes and I'll be what I'm trying to protect the sacred jewel from," she whispered. They both looked at her in pity, she hated it.
"Kaasan, if you use Inuyasha's blood you wont loose all your humanity, because he's a hanyou," Shippou reasoned. Inuyasha just nodded, if it meant Kagome not dieing, than he would do anything. "There is a certain time when you can have the youkia blood in you body. When every living thing's blood shifts, on a full moon or a new moon,"
"What that means that there is only two days that we can get rid of the poison?!" the hanyou outburst. "The new moon is tomorrow, and I wont have any youkia blood in me."
"What if I was to die of the poison," she asked wanting to know what would happen to her if she did die from the deadly poison.
"I wont tell you," he said not wanting her to know what would happen to her.
"Why, what happens when you die of the poison?" she asked.
"Because I don't want you to know," he said bluntly. Kagome smiled with an empty smile.
"I love you Shippou-chan," she took an arm from Inuyasha's chest and held him.
"I love you too, Kaasan," he said than thought of something. "One more thing,"
"What's that?" she asked.
"What was the youkai name?" he asked.
"Why?"
"I want to know so I can help Inuyasha give him what he deserves," he lied. Kagome's eyes fell at the remembrance. Shippou saw her face and wished he didn't ask her, but he had to know.
"His name was Yuko," she finally said. All the muscles in his body froze. Kagome didn't notice, but Inuyasha did.
"Does that name sound familiar?" the hanyou questioned.
"I-" he was interrupted by a voice at the door. It was Miroku.
"Pardon me for interrupting, but I must speak with Shippou-chan," he said.
"How long have you been listening, monk," Inuyasha hissed.
"Why," they both ignored him.
"I need to ask him something," he said.
"Alright," the kit said and tore himself away from Kagome. He followed Miroku outside the hut.
All was silent for a while as Inuyasha's ears flickered about. Kagome's stomach suddenly grumbled loudly. He couldn't help but laugh.
"It's not funny, I'm really hungry," she whined Inuyasha smiled and tried to get up, but Kagome wouldn't let go.
"Kagome?"
"Please don't leave me, I don't want to be left alone," she said.
"But aren't you hungry?" he asked confused.
"I don't want to be rejected," she said and Inuyasha knew what she meant.
"It's all right Kagome," he said and held her closer and tighter to his chest.
"Kagome, I will never leave you. I will always be there for you," he took her by the chin so he could see her eyes. "Always." Kagome turned away.
"Please," she whispered. "Please don't make promises you don't know if you can keep," she told him looking at the wall.
"What?" he asked.
"You still have promises to keep to someone else before you can make them to me," she told him. Inuyasha bowed his head at her truth.
"I'm sorry," he said still not looking at her. He picked Kagome up gently and put her next to him. "I'll get you some more bandages," he said and left the room. Kagome wished she had not said anything, after all he done for her.
xXx
"Inuyasha?" Kagome said when he re-entered the room. "Inuyasha," she said again when he didn't answer. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say those things," she looked at him, but he wouldn't look at her. "I know it's not really an excuse, but I'm not doing too well emotionally," she told him.
"You were right," he finally said and pored hot water into two cups of ramen the way Kagome showed him. She just looked at him, his statement running through her mind.
"I…" she whispered. "I think I found a reason why I want to live," she said looking away from him as he handed her the cup. "For you, I want to live for you Inuyasha. You have done so much for me, and I need to repay you in any way I can," she started crying.
"Kagome," he sat next to her. "Kagome, you have done so much for me, you can't even begin to understand," he grabbed her chin for her to look at him. "You have given me something no one else could have ever given me," he looked away. "But you were right. Kikyo, I must help her find peace. I also made her a promise. I can't break a promise to anyone," he paused and looked at her, his food all but forgotten. "Kagome, Kikyo is a part of me I can't just let it go. We were betrayed, and she needs to see that truth. Until she can, I can't leave her," he said.
"I suppose you're right," she said. "I guess I was just being selfish," she started to eat her food.
"No," he said sternly, "don't you ever say that. You are the most unselfish person I have ever met."
"Eat Inuyasha, before it gets cold," she changed the subject, not wanting to continue any longer.
"I'll get you some more bandages," he stood and left the hut, having lost his appetite.

"Shippou-chan, did you say the snake youkai name Yuko?" asked the monk in disbelief.
"You know him too?" he asked.
"That damn snake killed my mother and older sister," he closed his eyes. Realization hit Shippou like a hard cold slap in the face. "I watched them get taken away, and I could do nothing for fear of killing them in the process. I never want to see any one die because of him again," he said controlling his emotions. Shippou sat paralyzed, a cold sweat forming over his brow. 'No, it couldn't be' he thought. He was fighting down the lump in his throat, as the monk spoke.
"Shippou-chan, are you all right?" he asked.
"Yes," he lied. "I was just thinking about who paid Yuko."
"I don't know, but it would be hard to find out considering her stature. Over the years she has grown quite popular among youkai and human alike," Mirkou said.
"It was a jewel shard," said the quiet voice of Inuyasha.
"Inuyasha?" Miroku turned around.
"He had a shard," he didn't look at them as Sango went into the hut.
"How do you know?" Shippou asked.
"Being around a miko for a long time, you can tell when a youkai has a part of the jewel," he told them and sat down against a nearby tree.
"Really?" asked Shippou.
"You lied to me, brat," He said to the kit, ignoring his question. "You said you didn't know who that was," he said calmly, too calmly for the situation. Something must have happened between the two, Shippou thought.
"I didn't want to make Okaasan worry more than she already is," he said with his defenses up.
"There's something your still not telling," Inuyasha said still not looking at the kit.
"I-" he was cut off by Sango yelling from the hut.
"I'm going to kill that worthless piece of shit of a youkai," she yelled.
xXxl
"Kagome?" Sango said softly as she opened the door, Kaede closed the door behind them. They had clean bandages from Inuyasha.
"Sango?" she turned her head to look at her friend and started crying again. Sango ran to her bed.
"It hurt so much, Sango," she cried, Sango took her hand.
"It's ok Kagome," she said.
"But…" she tried painfully to sit up. "But it's not ok. I'm going to die," Kagome sobbed.
"Kagome," Sango tried to look at her friend. "What happened?" she demanded. Kagome stared with empty eyes, her emotions still not together.
"I'm going to die," she said.
"Why?" Sango asked worried that her mind was going to crumble. Kagome continued with her ghostly stare, debating whether she was going to tell them the brutal story "Kagome, snap out of it!"
"I," she started in a very small voice. Sango nodded for her to continue. "I was raped by a snake youkai," she said bluntly.
"Dear child, did ye say snake youkai?" the old miko said from behind Sango. "Oh my, I'll be right back," she said, leaving the room.
"How come I have a bad feeling about this?" Sango said as Kaede left.
"The snake youkai internally injected my with a deadly poison that is to kill me in a month." Sango gasped.
"Oh no, don't tell me, he didn't," she looked at her in horror. Kagome nodded.
"The only way to get rid of it is to get healthy youkai blood to cancel it out," she told her.
"I'm going to kill that worthless piece of shit of a youkai," she yelled. Kagome smiled at her friend's caring words.
"Thanks Sango that means a lot to me," she said. She wouldn't pass it by her either. Kaede stepped back into the room.
"Can ye stand," the old miko asked, holding a bowl. Both Kagome and Sango winced at the putrid smell coming from it.
"I think so, but my legs feel like water," she said while Sango helped her up.
"Now take off that cloth, I need to see any wounds ye may have," she dipped a small cloth in the foul smelling mixture and rung it out. Kagome pulled aside the sheet. Sango's face paled and almost let go of her. Three long scratch marks going across her chest to her stomach, from where the youkia tore her shirt off.
"Kagome," Sango gasped again.
"Can I sit-"
Thump.
Sango helped Kagome sit and turned to open the door to see a monk, a kitsune, and a flattened hanyou.
"What the hell are you doing?!" she yelled at them, and literally kicked them out of the door.
"It's not what you think, honestly," Miroku said truthfully. "We just wanted to see how Kagome-sama was doing. Honest," he defended.
"Are you sure," she looked at Shippou as if asking him.
"Yes," he said firmly.
"Good," she said and slammed the door in their faces.
"Kagome-sama is not looking too good," Mirkou said trying to break the silence, even though wrong thing to the hanyou. Inuyasha growled.
"You just made your death wish, monk," he threatened.
"No, no, no," he said waving his hands in front of him. "What I meant was that she looked terrible with that dreadfully huge scratch on her…" he trailed off as Inuyasha growled louder. Again he must have said something the hanyou didn't like.
"You're just digging your grave deeper." Shippou sighed at the scene.
"No, wait-"he ducked as the closest thing to Inuyasha took flight over his head, breaking as it hit the wall behind him. Shippou couldn't stop laughing. "I mean, I didn't see anything - ahh," he yelled, quickly dogging the hanyou himself instead of flying objects.
"Too late now, monk," he said getting the message through that he wanted to gouge Miroku's eyes out, though he had no intention of doing so. He just wanted to scare the living shit out of him, and it worked.
"Inuyasha's just pissed, and needs some one to take his anger out on," giggled Shippou.
"Shut up brat! You're next." He threatened. Shippou took off running for his life.
