“What's Left of Me,” by Nick Lachey
“He said, `I miss you.' Can you not believe that Sango!” Kagome squeaked into the phone.
“Mmhmm.”
Kagome sighed. “Anyways, how's Miroku?”
“He's fine.”
“What's wrong?”
“Nothing really. It's just that…”
“…that you miss him?” Kagome said finishing her sentence.
“Yeah.”
“Well, their concert is going to be on in a few minutes. Are you sure you don't want to come over or have me be at your house?” Kagome asked.
“Nah, I just want to be alone tonight, but thanks,” Sango answered.
Kagome became a little concerned, but she said, “OK. I'll talk to you later.”
The girls clicked the off button on their cordless phones.
Kagome went to her computer and went to InuYasha's website. She clicked the link that would take her to the concert.
After a couple minutes, Rin walked across the stage. She had the mic in her hand. She threw a hand up in the arm and shouted into the mic, “Are you ready?”
The crowd screamed.
The drums started beating and the guitars were making riffs. The audience was making rock signs in the air and was screaming InuYasha's name.
They started with “That's What I Get.”
Then fifteen minutes later, they took it slow with a ballad. InuYasha sat on a cushioned stool. He swayed into the beat.
“Watch my life,
Pass me by,
In the rear view mirror
Pictures frozen in time
Are becoming clearer
I don't wanna waste another day
Stuck in the shadow of my mistakes
Yeah...”
Pass me by,
In the rear view mirror
Pictures frozen in time
Are becoming clearer
I don't wanna waste another day
Stuck in the shadow of my mistakes
Yeah...”
The crowd had glo sticks and Kagome could see it. They were waving them in perfect time. Damn, she was wishing she was there.
”Cause I want you,
And I feel you,
Crawling underneath my skin
Like a hunger,
Like a burning,
To find a place I've never been
Now I'm broken,
And I'm faded,
I'm half the man I thought I would be:
But you can have what's left of me”
”Cause I want you,
And I feel you,
Crawling underneath my skin
Like a hunger,
Like a burning,
To find a place I've never been
Now I'm broken,
And I'm faded,
I'm half the man I thought I would be:
But you can have what's left of me”
Kagome could hear slight pain in his voice. That's to be expected. In one of the interviews he had, he said that this song was written in the most darkest places he was in during his depression when Kikyo broke up with him.
”I've been dying inside,
Little by little,
No where to go,
But going out of my mind
In endless circles,
Running from my self until,
You gave me a reason for standing still”
”I've been dying inside,
Little by little,
No where to go,
But going out of my mind
In endless circles,
Running from my self until,
You gave me a reason for standing still”
They had a close up on InuYasha's face. Kagome could see his eyes glistening with unshed tears. She understood. He still loved her. Who wouldn't feel that way after a long relationship that was full of passion…at least on InuYasha's end. Who knew what was going on in Kikyo's end.
”It's falling faster,
Barely breathing,
Give me something,
To believe in
Tell me: It's not all in my head”
”It's falling faster,
Barely breathing,
Give me something,
To believe in
Tell me: It's not all in my head”
He stood up and went to the audience. He touched the extended hands of his fans.
”Take what's left
Of this man
Make me whole
Once again
I've been dying inside you see
I'm going out of my mind
Out of my mind
I'm just running in circles all the time”
”Take what's left
Of this man
Make me whole
Once again
I've been dying inside you see
I'm going out of my mind
Out of my mind
I'm just running in circles all the time”
He walked around the stage, making hand motions with his free hand. He would bend over to hit the high notes.
”Will you take what's left
Will you take what's left
Will you take what's left of me?
Running in circles in my mind
Will you take what's left
Will you take what's left
Will you take what's left of me?”
After he was done, he threw the hand with the mic in the air. Everyone was screaming and calling his hand. The camera crew did another close-up to InuYasha and Kagome saw a lone tear running down his face.
Is that really a tear or sweat? she thought.
Kagome watched the rest of performances for the rest of the forty-five minutes of the show. When it was down, she shut down her computer.
The phone rang and she sprung to it.
“Hello?”
“Hi Kagome, it's Sango.”
Kagome's heart dropped. For once, she was wishing that InuYasha actually called.
“Hey Sango. What's up?”
“Oh, um, I was thinking about calling Miroku…”
“So why are you calling me?”
“Cause I don't know what to say!”
“How about…I miss you…I love you…I wish you were here…I want you in my pants…”
“Kagome!”
The girl giggled. “Just call him and tell him it was a great performance.”
Sango sighed. “I guess I can do that. Thanks Kagome.”
“No problem.”
They hung-up on each other and Kagome went to lie down on her bed. She was thinking about what she said to Sango. Those things were what she wanted to say to InuYasha, especially the last one. She hoped she would call him for once instead of her calling him.
Ring-ring
Once again, she jumped to answer it.
“Hello?”
“Hi Kagome, it's InuYasha.”
“Hi! Great performance as always.”
“Thanks.”
Kagome was getting puzzled in the tone of his voice. “What's wrong?”
“Oh…nothing really.”
“Bullshit. I can tell something is on your mind.”
InuYasha fidgeted. “Well, I was thinking about Kikyo during the first ballad. I didn't want to…really. But that song is really deep for me.”
“I understand.”
Kagome listened to InuYasha talk and gave short answers. She knew that's all he wanted and that's what she gave him.
At the end, he thanked her and told her she missed him and she replied that she missed him too. After that, she was wondering when he would tell her that he loved her. She would reply that she loved him too and then they kiss. Kagome touched her lips. Would they ever?
Souta burst through her room. “Kagome! Guess who is downstairs?”
