Chapter 4
kagome woke up the next morning to something soft. She opened her eyes and they widened in shock , she was leaning against inuyasha and he had his arms around her. She froze as he pulled her closer and snuggled into her neck. She was about to get up when she heard feet pounding and the door burst open. Sango, who was still in miroku’s arms, woke as did inuyasha and miroku. Everyone turned to the door to see the young messenger boy. “ you have to hurry.” he said panting. “ there’s a demon on the grounds!”
Inuyasha and miroku helped the girls up and headed to the door. “kagome! Sango! Get ready and meet us out there!” inuyasha said as he and miroku left.
“Be careful!” kagome called to them as they disappeared down the hallway with the young boy. Sango got dressed quickly and kagome grabbed her bow and quiver full of arrows, and went to wake shippo. “ shippo, theres a demon you have to wake up.”
shippo jumped at the sound of kagomes voice. He quickly covered his nose. “Kagome” he said. “ it smells like a snake. Where are inuyasha and miroku?” he asked as he looked around.
“Inuyasha and miroku left already and so are we. come on kirara” sango said as she grabbed hirikotsu and ran down the hall with kagome and shippo at her heels.

inuyasha and miroku arrived outside with the young boy. “Where is he?” miroku
asked looking around.
Inuyasha growled. “ damn it, it’s a snake demon. Miroku watch your back.” miroku
nodded and readied himself. Keeping is eyes open for any small movement. Inuyasha
shoved the small boy behind him, like he did with kagome. “Come out you filthy snake!” he growled.
“Filthy snake am I? What are you then, a dirty little half breed?” a voice came
from behind inuyasha and he swivelled around, keeping the boy behind him.
“Where are you, come out you coward.” he heard a laugh. The ground started
opening under him, he grabbed the boy and jumped back as a snake came up out of
the hole. “there you are you bastard. “ inuyasha unsheathed tetsiga and pointed
it at the snake youki. Kagome and sango ran out onto the land as inuyasha took
out tetsiga. “ kagome! sango! Watch out!”
The snake demon turned to face kagome and she thought he saw his eyes soften. He turned and dove deep into the ground. Inuyasha lowered his sword in surprise.
‘Why did he leave?’ He thought as he turned to kagome who’s eyes showed equal
surprise. They heard a loud smack and turned to find Sango beating Miroku silly.
“You ever touch me while I sleep, your not going to be able to have kids!” she
screamed and turned back to face kagome with a mischievous look on her face. “So
Kagome, you slept with Inuyasha last night, didn’t you?”
Luckily kagome was rescued when Yoshiko ran into the clearing. “what happened?” he asked. “ did you defeat it?” he saw Kagome and rushed to her side. “ are you hurt milady? Such a pretty thing shouldn’t be fighting.”
Inuyasha growled and shoved Yoshiko away from Kagome and stepped in front of her.
“you don’t have to worry about her, she can handle her self, plus.. “ he said “that’s what I’m here for, to protect her.”
Sango and miroku looked at each other in surprise. “Did he just say, that’s what
he’s here for, to protect Kagome?”they said in unison Sango spoke up at the two growling, more inuyasha growling, yoshiko was making a kind of hissing noise, and said “ inuyasha stop, we need to go back and formulate a plan since we know of what type
of demon it is..” she hesitated then added “ and prepare for tonight” she turned and miroku followed.
Kagome walked up to inuyasha and grabbed his hand. “ please inuyasha, lets go.”
He growled once more at Yoshiko then followed kagome back to their room, she hadn’t let go of his hand.

inuyasha growled as they entered the small room. Kagome turned to him. “ what has
gotten into you!?” she yelled “ you wont let anyone get near me!”
“Um, kagome.. Just a little correction, he wont let any MALE near you.” Sango
said quietly.
Kagome overlooked this fact “ I still want to know why.”
Inuyasha just looked at kagome. “ I don’t have to tell you my reasons.” he said,
turning around and opening the door.
“where are you going?” kagome asked, worry in her voice.
“none of your business.” inuyasha said as he walked out and shut the door behind
him. Leaving kagome to just stare.

“you didn’t tell me she was fighting” yoshiko hissed to Naraku.
“she always fights, now I want you to kill her and the hanyu. Make sure you do
or your life will pay the price.” naraku said, voice full of venom.
“but naraku... I can’t harm the girl.” yoshiko said looking at the ground.
“oh? And why not?” came a female voice out of the shadows. Kagura walked out and turned to naraku, handing him five shards of the sacred jewel.
“don’t tell me you have FEELINGS for the human, And you call yourself a youki.”
she said sneering at yoshiko and walked towards the screen exit (what’s it
called?). “ I have a deal for you yoshiko. Make the girl want you and she lives.
Ask her for the jewel shards, take them, whatever I don’t care. But if you cant
get her to want you by...” she paused. “tonight, then kiss her goodbye cause I will kill her.” with that kagura excited and walked down the hall. 'for both our sakes, I hope
you do get her, cause I need her as part of my plan...' she thought.
Yoshiko turned to naraku. “ is that pleasing enough? If I can make her mine, then
you will not kill her? I will still gather the shards, but not at the cost of her life.”
Naraku nodded. “However, you must kill the hanyu, and if you can make her yours,
she may live. Now leave and go do your bidding.”
Yoshiko bowed and left ‘ now all that’s left to do is kill the hanyu and make her
mine.’
