InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Closed Door Just Might Open ❯ the good cousin ( Chapter 6 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Sorry for the wait guys. I was put on computer ban and Internet is down. I'm attempting to upload this on my sister's computer. Bet you it won't work. As much as I don't want to, my morals won't let me. Thank you LunaStar for reviewing. Now enough of this nonsense.

On with the story.

The Closed Door Just Might Open

Chapter 6: the good cousin

It's now the end of October and the weather's getting colder. Kagome and I finished that poster. I think it was the best one, if I do say so myself. Kagome still hates student council but I think she can tolerate it now. Kagome and I hang out a lot more. I guess you could say we're friends. Kinda friends.

I walked up to Kagome's door to hear the sound of muffled video games. I may have a concealment spell, but that doesn't mean I'm as limited as humans. I knock on the door.

“It's open!” came a female voice from within. I gradually opened the door to find the two siblings lost in their video game. I head over to the couch, where they're at.

“What are—”

“Can't talk now. Gotta kick my brother's butt,” she said as she pressed buttons.

“Oh no you're not! I will beat you this time.”

“Yeah, you wish. You haven't done it yet. And you're not gonna start now.” There was ten seconds left on the timer. Kagome didn't even need the ten seconds. She only pressed three buttons and her brother was dead.

“OH YEAH, BABY!!! I won! What now? Pay up,” she said holding out her hand. Souta grudgingly took money out of his pocket and shoved it into his sister's hand then got up to trudge to his room.

“Thank ya. Thank ya very much,” she said as she admired the money in her hand. I crouched down in front of Kagome as she inhaled the scent of the money with her eyes closed. She slowly opened her eyes with the money still to her face. It was then she remembered I was there. Her eyes lit up and she nervously laughed.

“Are you sure you should be doing that?” I questioned.

“What? The money?” I nod.

“Why?”

“You don't know where he's put that money.” She looks thoughtful.

“I'll risk it.” She then took the money and put it in her pocket.

“So what game was it you were playing?”

“Soul Calibur 2. I rule at that game!”

“Oh, maybe I should play you. Bet you I'd beat you.” She laughs.

“You'd have as much chance beating me as Souta does. But we'll see, one day.” She gets up from the couch and starts up the stairs.

“So what are we working on this time?” I ask when we get to her room. She flops down on her bed and holds her arm over her eyes.

“Uh…I think its…posters for the upcoming pep assembly… Right?” she said as she peaked at me above her arm.

“Yeah?” shortly after I said that the doorbell rang.

“I'll get it!” Kagome announced to the house. She leisurely got up from her bed and headed out her door. I looked through my stuff, about to work on the project.

Then I heard a high squeal that made me drop all my stuff. What the hell? I hurry downstairs thinking Kagome's in trouble only to be stopped at the end of the stairway to find nothing wrong.

I see Kagome hugging a girl that looks similar to her. I can't see her face. Her hair is medium length dark brown. She's about an inch or two taller than Kagome. They haven't stopped squealing since she got here. Then I hear Kagome talk.

“Oh, how I missed you. Oh yes, the good cousin.” So she's her cousin. That would explain the resemblance. She pulls away to look at her, but I still can't see.

“Aah! What are you doing here? I thought you weren't coming until Christmas.”

“Well, I got off early and I thought `why don't I drop in on my cousin?' so here I am. Plus, I had to come home to my boyfriend whom I've neglected for so long.”

“It just shows how strong your relationship is with him. Oh, I missed you so much,” she whined as she went back to hugging her cousin. They pull away and I finally get a good look at her. She looks so familiar, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

“Hi, Inuyasha.” then it donned on me.

“Rin?”

I look back and forth between Inuyasha and Rin. How do they know each other? This is all so very confusing.

“Whoa…Whoa…W-w-w-w-w-what? How do you know her? How do you know him? How do you know each other?” I ask being a tad melodramatic, pointing to each for their questions. Inuyasha looks toward Rin in a state of shock while Rin looks cool and collected.

“I'm dating his brother,” Rin stated. I gawk at the both of them. I walk over to Inuyasha.

“You're…dating this thing's…brother?” I ask as I gesture to Inuyasha next to me. He glares at me.

“Based off of just him, I can see where you would get that reaction—”

“Hey!” Inuyasha interrupted.

“But believe it or not his brother is actually very nice.” Now Inuyasha decides to intervene again.

“W-wait. Nice? You called my brother nice. My brother wouldn't know nice if it slapped him in the face.”

“Then it wouldn't be very nice, would it?” I put my two cents in. Inuyasha looks toward the ceiling while I smile achieving my goal in annoying him today. Then he looks back toward me.

“Oh, I have something to say Kagome.”

“And what would that be?”

“When you squealed before, that was the girliest sound I've ever heard from you since elementary.”

“Well I am a girl.”

“Coulda fooled me,” he mumbled, but I heard him.

“What was that?” I ask in a threateningly low voice. His eyes flit to mine in nervousness.

“Nothing,” he says quickly. I jump on him and hold him in a headlock.

“You said something. Tell me!” he tries to shake his head in my strong clutch.

“Tell me!”

“It's kinda hard…to tell you…when you're choking me!” he says in a strained voice.

“You could tell me that, tell me what you said!” I think he's gonna give in.

“Alright…I said `coulda fooled me'…happy?” I let him go. Then I give him a sickeningly sweet smile.

“Now was that so hard?” he looks at me skeptically. Then I punch him hard in the arm.

“That's for what you said,” I say as a matter of fact and head up to my room.

“Good ol' Kagome. As violent as ever,” I hear Rin say.

When I make sure Kagome's gone I rub my arm. She has one hell of a punch. Then I realize Rin saw me. I chuckle lightly.

“Like that hurt,” I say as my arm falls to my side.

“Sure it didn't,” her voice thick with sarcasm while she cocks her head to the side.

Rin's changed a bit since I last saw her. Her hair used to curl out and went down to mid-back. Now's it's curled in, goes a little past her shoulders, and is a lighter brown. She still has that part of hair put into a little ponytail a little off center on the top of her head, but it's grown out more. You can see the maturity in her face, but you can still tell how much of a kid she really is. Everything else is practically the same.

I see Souta come downstairs then.

“What's all the noise down here?” he says before he gets a good look at the newcomer.

“Oh, hey, Rin. How's our favorite cousin?” he asks as he goes to hug her.

“Just great. How are you kiddo?” she hugs him while she ruffles his hair.

“Oh no. Not you, too. I get that enough from Kagome.” She tousles his hair again.

“Must be in the genes.”

“You know, just for that, I'm probably gonna wear a helmet the whole time you're here.”

“Aw,” she whines reaching to dishevel his hair again.

“No!” he exclaims covering his hair and heading up to his room. She laughs.

“So does this mean, I'm gonna have to see a lot more of you?” I ask her.

“You know it, Inu.”

“I hate that name.”

“I know,” she says looking so smug. She's picking up some bad habits from Sesshomaru.

Told you it wouldn't work. I just have to wait. Oh, the agony. I decided I'm not doing a sequel and I'm fitting 2 years into one story. Wanted to make that clear. Until next time. Please review.
