My eyes open slowly to the sight of your sleeping form, back facing toward me. You lie on your side often these days, looking away from me. Of course, it is still rare that we wake up in the same room, let alone the same bed…

 

Though this, much like all those other moments, fills me with both a sense of dread and anxiety and a warm feeling that envelopes me better than any sunny day ever could.

 

As I slowly lift myself up off the mattress, sliding the covers away to reveal my nude body, I tilt myself until I am standing, and the tears rush me. No longer caring if I awaken you, I fall back into the pillow, the harsh sobs ripping their way through me until I feel as though nothing is left.

 

You instill in me the brightest hope that I have ever been able to feel - and, yet… there is also the darkness that you have helped blossom within my heart. You took my failed relationship with My Lord Sesshomaru, and you found the hatred and the unhappiness that I had long kept hidden inside my soul, and you nurtured it.
