Chapter 1 – Kai Mei and the new Evil
Kagome stared hard into Inuyasha’s eyes. The gold brilliantly capturing her mind and soul. A breath that she had been holding in escaped her, her cheeks flushed with color. She was trembling. Inuyasha stood and gazed at her like she was the only thing in the world that mattered.

Wind blew around them, leaves danced as the gust took them away. “Inuyasha?” kagome breathed, her voice shuddered and tears weld up in her eyes, giving them a diamond luster.

“I’ll never let you go Kagome.” Inuyasha’s words filled the air with a soft echo. His arms had long since been around Kagome, now, they were lightly moving her toward him. Their bodies were pressed together, the warmth from them increased. Kagome had never known these feelings existed so strongly. She could feel his breath brushing over her skin, and she liked it. Kagome's eyes slowly closed as Inuyasha pulled her closer...

"Kagome?" The voice said. "Kagome?" The same voice echoed out again through her mind like a distant reminder. Kagome opened her eyes, but just barely. She wanted to look at his face again, the beautiful face of...

"Yes... Inuyasha?" Kagome breathed lightly. He voice was still warm, the feelings were still causing the blood in her to pump at an alarming rate, thus, creating a blush. What she heard then was odd. A distant sound. That of... Laughing?

"Kagome, either you stop falling asleep in class and dreaming of your boyfriend or I'm going to fail you." The teacher added with a firm look of authority in his eyes.

The man had his arms crossed over his slim chest, and he was lightly bent down to be at Kagome's eye level; his glasses threatened to fall from his pale, narrow face. Other children in the class giggled while others whispered to their friends and some were so bold to speak out loud.

"Hey, Kagome. Can I be in your next fantasy?" said a tall boy in the back of the class, followed by laughter. Kagome had just now time to take all this in. Her face now darkened more to be a brilliant crimson. Her eyes grew wide and tried to hide her face by sinking it low to a hover just below her stack of books.

Kagome had never fallen asleep in class before, but that was before she tried to live two lives. One as a normal student in Japan and the other running around in the past with Inuyasha looking for demons and jewel fragments.

*Oh my god, I'm never going to hear the end of this* she thought while glancing over to her friend, who seemed to be enjoying this just as much as the rest of the class. *I need a rest* she added to herself with a sigh.

The past weeks had been difficult on the young woman. Naraku had gone missing, but the number of demon attacks had doubled. Inuyasha and the rest of them had been going from slaying a demon one moment to fighting for their lives the next. When the wave finally began to cool down a bit, Kagome insisted on going home and resting before she did any more fighting in the Feudal Era.

"Why me?" Kaome said out loud to herself, a hint of bitterness in her voice. As she lay in her bed, dressed for the night, she stared at the ceiling wondering how long it would be till she was ready to return to the past.

The room was dark, and it was late. She should have already been sleeping, but too much was on her mind. It had been this way for some time now. The feelings between Inuyasha and her were growing with every passing day. "I'm not cut out for this..." She slowly fell asleep, her head falling to one side.

That night, she dreamed of Him again.

"Kagome?" The word rung in her head for a moment before she realized she was sleeping. "Kagome?" Why was it that she always woke up to someone calling her name? The reason was not known to Kagome herself. All she knew was that it bothered her. She opened her eyes, only to be staring Souta in the face. She jumped in her bed and screamed at the sudden shock of her brother up close and personal."I told you to stop coming into my room!" She complained, only to get a shrug and a grin from her little brother.

Kagome growled deep in her throat and crossed her arms defensively. "I said get out you little brat."

"Mom says you better get up. You're almost late for school." The boy argued. Bringing the Mom into it for authority purposes.

Kagome shot up and looked shocked as her head darted to her clock."What!? There's no way I can get to school on time!" Kagome shouted in protest. But before anymore time past she was already stumbling on of bed and pushing Souta from the room so she could change. The boy left with a triumphant smirk and a good laugh.

"You're late." Said the teacher as Kagome walked in through the door to her first class. she was about to start complaining when she noticed the man behind the desk was not her usual teacher.

He was a tall man. His shoulders were broad, and the arms that trailed down were firmly built, but not so much that his arms seemed like they had swollen. The shirt he had on was thin, black, and completely covered his chest; however, his features seemed to be woven into the fabric itself being that it was so tight. His pants, too, were black. They were basic jeans with the shirt tucked in the top and secured by a black belt with a gold buckle. He wore black leather boots that did not go much higher than his ankle. His hair was black with completely natural silver highlights , no gel or hair spray needed. It was short in the back and front save for a few select bangs that fell freely in spikes. One silver lock in particular was long enough to reach the tip of his nose and was spiked. His eyes piercing and dark. Gold filled in the iris that was surrounded by a think layer of black. A very handsome face, with a smile to match. This, defiantly, was not her normal teacher.

"Sorry about that. Here I am, first day... And I'm already getting on your case." The man smiled at her. It was a warm smile that filled Kagome with comfort. She automatically trusted this man. Why were his features so perfect to her?

*Wow...* The thought came out of nowhere and Kagome immediately was embarrassed by it. Her cheeks flushed with red.

"Are you alright Kagome? I'm sure by the notes I was left this is not your first day to be late." He chuckled a bit, and some of the girls in the class, who were staring at him, giggled.

"H-How do you know my name?" She finally asked after a moment of letting her cheeks tone down the color.

"Your last teacher made sure I did." He flashed her a perfect smile. "Oh, and by the way. I'm going to be your new teacher."

The man looked down at the notes on his desk, then back up to Kagome. "I was going to clear your record and give you a fresh start. But... You showing up late has proven that is not possible." He said with no sense of authority or anger in his voice. It was almost as if he were...joking. "But then again." He said glancing at the papers again. "I never even got these notes." With that he brushed the pile of papers into the trash can and shot Kagome a wink.

That was cause for another session of blushing on Kagome's part."And I'm Kai Mei. But please, call me Kai." He said with that same perfect smile. Then to the rest of the class, "And that goes for all of you. As of today you all are innocent. But don't for one second think I wont chew your ass out if you piss me off." Something tainted the perfection. The voice had gone dark, a real fury there. That, if released, would destroy everything in it's path. The entire class felt it. "And I don't like to be called by my full name." He said with that old brilliant luster, and a laugh. The before fury had been a veil. Something pulled out to cover that this guy was incapable of punishment. It worked.

Kagome had never had a better day at school. She went home with a smile on her face for the first time. The whole way listening to her girlfriends chat about the new teacher, Kai.

"He was only twenty-one,"

"Just graduated. So he's basically still a young man."

"He's the cutest teacher in the entire school."

Kagome contributed nothing to the gossip. She only enjoyed listening. Many times, though, she thought about taking part and telling them how he winked at her, and how warm it had made her feel. But no, she's already with Inuyasha...Sorta.

They broke off one by one and eventually Kagome was walking alone. The sky overhead was bright blue, the birds danced around while singing a glorious melody. She even started humming.

*What's gotten into me?* She thought after realizing that her mood had jumped from exhausted to absolutely cheerful just by meeting Kai. *Then it's settled. I'll go back to the Feudal Era now that I'm feeling one-hundred percent better.* But then the thought of not seeing Kai tomorrow ruined her mood. Why? What was it about this new man?

The answer to her problems came in the form of silver hair and bright red clothes. "Kagome! What the hell are you doing? You do realize you've been gone for four days now, right? What's wrong? Think you can't handle it?"

That could only be..."Inuyasha? What are you doing here?" Kagome asked, her eyes blinking more than usual from confusion.

"I came to get ya'. That is unless your scared." Inuyasha mocked with that same tone in his voice. His arms were crossed and stuck into his large sleeves.

"Well, for you information I was just about to go back on my own. But now that your being so pushy I not sure if I want to." Kagome argued with her finger pointing directly at Inuyasha's forehead.

"Look, we don't have time for your games. We have a problem. There have been rumors about Naraku's disappearance. They say that a more powerful demon destroyed Naraku and is controlling all the demons that have been attacking us lately." Inuyasha said in a bitter tone. That and disbelief in his own words.

How could anyone be more powerful than Naraku? "More powerful than Naraku?" Kagome gasped. A fear hit her cold in the heart. It wasn't possible. There was no way. But she had to find out for herself...
