Chapter 4
Sick Day

When Souta came to wake his sister the state he found Kagome in was not good. She was a shaking convulsing mess of tears and low whimpers. He couldn't get her to respond to his cries so he ran for their mother. Mrs. Higurashi came in and helped Kagome get back into bed.
"No, your absolutely not!" Mrs. Higurashi protested. "You are in no way going to school after..." her voice tapered off.
"But Mother..." Kagome argued "If I just stay home, I'll...I'll go crazy. I need to keep myself busy."
"Absolutely not, Kagome!" her Mother scolded. "You were nearly strangled to death and now I won't have you off at school where God knows what could happen to you..."
"I already told you Mother he got what he came for so, he won't be back." Kagome said flatly.
"Sweetheart, will you please just do as I ask and stay home with me. I'll call in from work and we'll rent a movie and spend a relaxing day on the sofa, how bout it, sweetie?" her mother begged,
"uughh" Kagome let out a deep breath "Alright." she complied.
"Good." Said Mrs. Higurashi with a slight clap.
"Your so lucky." grumbled Souta after their mother headed down the hallway "I wish I didn't have to go to school today."
"Yea, I'm real lucky, alright" said Kagome sarcastically.
When Souta left for school Kagome and her mother went to the video store and rented one of Kagome's favorite movies an old American classic called "While you were Sleeping" It was a good thing Kagome had already seen the movie at least a dozen times or else she might not have been able to convey even the most mundane detail about it. After the movie Kagome excused herself to go up to her room claiming that she was tired and needed some sleep. Although she was tired she seriously doubted that she would get much sleep. After all what she really needed was some alone time to think. No. she thought what she needed the most was to be able to talk to the one person who would truly understand how she felt, someone who had been there and witnessed all that she and Inuyasha had gone and someone who could lend her support and sooth the solace in her heart and that person was Sango, but without her jewel shards she would have no way to get back to her friends in Feudal Japan, Her final defenses down with that one realization Kagome broke down into silent tears.

Author's Note: I forgot to add disclaimers to the previous two chapters so I apologize to the mediaminer people. I'd like to remind everyone that I do not own Inuyasha or anything else that cooperates with Rumiko Takahashi. Are you happy now?

P.S. Please don't sue my ass.
