Chapter 10

Catching Up

"And that's all that's happened to me since I went back and how I got here." Kagome finished while Kaede stared at her in disbelief. After the two had caught up Kagome finally decided it was time. Kagome took a deep breath, let it out and asked "Kaede, what's happened to Inuyasha? Where is he? Has he...done anything? Where are Miroku and Sango?"

"Settle down child," said Kaede. "One question at a time, alright?" She added warmly.

"Right" said Kagome with a nervous nod and a just as nervous smile.

"Miroku and Sango have been searching for Inuyasha since you left.” Kaede informed the girl. "But who knows what could have happened to them if they've found him and he really has...used the jewel to..."Kaede tapered off unable to finish the terrible thought.

" I...I am.. so sorry, Kaede" Kagome told the old woman. "I can't believe I let him..." she couldn't finish.

"Don't be stupid child, you hardly let him. From what you told me he nearly stole your life along with the jewel, now don't you give it another thought." said Kaede soothingly.

"Your right." said Kagome, "Its just I can't help but feel like I..." Kagome started to say but Kaede interrupted again.

"What did I tell you, hmm? Don't give it another thought. And besides we've got more important things to worry about now, haven't we? And we don't know how long we'll have to figure it all out. We don't know how long you can retain this...double or astral self or whatever it is this state your in. And if you can't maintain it for very long then, we need to hurry and come up with a plan of action." The old woman babbled on, but Kagome barely heard a word. What was Inuyasha doing? if he hadn't already used the jewel...or if he had then why hadn't he...what was going on here. Kagome's mind was buzzing with questions that appeared to have no answer.

"Wouldn't you agree, Kagome?" the old woman's question brought Kagome back to reality.

"Hmmm,.. what? Sorry." Kagome sputtered on.

"We should find Miroku and Sango immediately, wouldn't you agree, Kagome?" Kaede repeated herself once again now that she had the girl's attention.

"Oh, Yes, yes of course." Kagome agreed. "But...that...that could take days...and I...I don't have that kind of time, I mean, I don't know if I could..." Kagome worried aloud to her friend.

"Your right of course," said Kaede. "I'll just have to look for them and you'll just have to return home and find away to maintain your astral self for a greater period of time."

"I already know of a way but it might be dangerous." Kagome told Kaede.

"Whatever it is, child. You better try it. We are hard pressed for time here, and we do not yet know what we are up against." Kaede told her sadly.

 

 

Author Note: Dear Reader,

Just a heads up, since I'm thinking of taking this story into some...interesting territory it might take sometime for me to finish the next chapter of my story. I will do my best to finish it in a timely fashion so as not to leave you all hanging, however, I do anticipate that as the story progresses the plot will (hopefully) get better and better.
