Author's Note: Oh Kami, can it be? Another chapter? Sorry about my horrible schedual, I know it's been a while since I updated. Between finals and everything eles it's hard to get around to it. Thanks for all the reviews, keep telling me what you think! On to chapter 5...

Gotama stared silently at Naraku waiting for him to continue.

"You gonna tell me or just sit there? I have better things to do with my time then talk to you.", Gotama spat.

"Kukuku, you should be thanking me for giving you this oppertunity. It's not every day your offered a chance to salvage what little reputation you have left as a youkai.", Naraku said.

"What the hell are you talking about?"

"Now let me see",Naraku said with a smirk,"it's been a while so you'll have to refresh my memory. Here is what I know about your rather humiliating down fall...you and the Yousima were informed of a job. You were told of a youkai taking a human wife, a youkai named Inumaru I believe. You went in to destroy him and was miserably defeated. Apparently you were not informed of the power of the great lord of the westernlands. Afterward you were held responsible for first ever failure of the Yousima and have since been seen as a complete joke. Did it not go something like that?"

Gotama stood there and growled. It was bad enough to be reminded of the whole mess let alone by this miserable half-youkai. The Yousima was a very powerful army of youkai. An army that sought to purify the youkai race of hanyou and human-youkai mating. There was nothing worse then a youkai taking a human mate in Gotama and many other youkai's eyes. Then it was found that the great lord of the Western lands had done just that. That great and powerful youkai, Inumaru, had indeed enraged a lot of youkai over this decision. Those youkai had then called upon the Yousima to correct this and make Inumaru pay with the life of both him and his mate.

For Gotama those had been good days. He was incharge of the Yousima and commanded a level of respect. That had all changed though after the battle with Inumaru had been lost. Inumaru had had more resolve then expected and left the once-powerful Yousima in disorder. Gotama was thrown from the seat of power and cast aside. Today the Yousima continued their efforts in an atempt to win back their name but the name Inumaru still hit a sour chord in the group.

"Something like that.", said Gotama coldly,"Now what is it you want?"

"As I said, I have a mission that could regain a lot of ground for you and the Yousima. You could repay a certain youkai for instance."

"Inumaru!?"

"Kukuku, don't be so out of touch Gotama. Inumaru has been dead for nearly 60 years, killed by a far higher power then you and that band of idiots. I'm refering to his son. And no, before you go and sound even stupider, I'm not talking about Sesshomaru. He had another son not long after your pathetic attack, Inuyasha."

"Another son?",growled Gotama in realization,"This other son was with that human wench!?"

"Kukuku, hai. But that is no longer the big issue. The reason I called upon you now is because I know that Inuyasha has mated with a human now himself and she is with child at this very moment.", said Narku pleased at the obvious anger going through Gotama.

"Now is not a good time to attack then. With the knowlege of the pup he'll be espeacialy watchful. We should wait until it is born to make a move.",said Gotama.

"I have already thought that out. You see only I and a few choice others know of the childs existance. Inuyasha and those around him have no idea. Besides both Inuyasha and the girl, Kagome, are no doubt very shaken right now with the sudden arrival of another visitor I sent."

Gotama considered all of this. It just might work and he could finally get some well deserved revenge on the Inu bloodline. Naraku obviously couldn't be completely trusted but if he played along for now by the time that lump of flesh turned on him he would have the Yousima backing him up. Smiling Gotama turned his back silently to Naraku and left to tell the Yousima this course of action.

"This is just too easy.",Naraku though to himself with a smile of his own.

Kagome awoke to the sound of breakfast being started by Kaede. She looked to her left and saw Sango also beginning to stir. She smilied at her friend. When Miroku followed Inuyasha out of the hut last night he had managed to wake both Kagome and Sango. Kagome knew that Inuyasha would end up telling Miroku about them so she had used the time to fill Sango in to. Sango couldn't have been happier at the news. It had been about time for them to straighten everything out.

The two girls dressed in silence before steping out to met the others. Kaede was busy with her stove, Miroku was vacantly stareing at his cursed hand, and Inuyasha was tending to the battering Tessiga had recieved in their last battle.

"So what are we doing today?", Asked Sango,"We haven't gotten word of any jewel shards lately so maybe we should take the day off."

"That sounds like a good idea.", Added Kagome with a look at Inuyasha.

"Uh, yeah sure.", He said knowing that look.

"Great! We can go down to the hotsprings and..."

Kagome's words were cut short at the sight she had grown to hate most in the world. Emerging from the woods just beyond the village was Kikyou surrounded by her shinidamachuu. As Kikyou continued the shinidamachuu flew off at her mental command. She walked straight forward, completely oblivious to her familiar surroundings, her mind only on the task at hand.

The rest of the group had turned round to follow Kagome's gaze and understood her silence immediately. Kagome's eyes went to Inuyasha who seemed to be avoiding her gaze. He was in fact looking anywhere but the two women.

"Kikyou...", breathed Kagome so softy only Inuyasha's keen ears heard.

"Damn.",thought Inuyasha,"I'm not prepared for this yet. Kagome looks like she's about to cry. What am I going to do?"

Soon Kikyou was upon them looking over the group. Her eyes lingered on Kagome for a moment before settling on Inuyasha.

"Hello Inuyasha. Are you not happy to see your love?", Said Kikyou.

Inuyasha just stared at her. What was she doing? She had never come to the village out of no where before. She usually avoided this village at all costs, too many memories.

"I think that we should have a talk in private don't you?", She asked turning without a word to anyone eles.

Inuyasha gave Kagome a quick reasurring look before following after Kikyou. Kagome nodded and turned quickly so he wouldn't see the tears starting to form in her eyes.

"Now is the time to prove your words Inuyasha.",Kagome thought hearing him walk away,"Please do not tell me my faith was ill put."

Inuyasha followed a wordless Kikyou for about 10 minuets until she finally stopped. It only took Inuyasha a few minuets to figure out where she was headed, the God Tree. That tree had bared witness to so many important moments in Inuyasha's life. From the early times with Kikyou, the moment she bond him to the tree, when she kissed him infront of Kagome, and most recently that night with Kagome herself. Yes, this seemed the most fitting place to have this conversation.

"Kikyou I-", Inuyasha began.

"Hold your breath.," She interrupted,"Inuyasha you promised to help me. You took claim upon my life as I did yours. We belong together. Thats what I'm offering you now. I know the location of a Shikon fragment and I want you to come with me to get it. Alone. This is our chance, who cares about those people? All we need is us."

"Kikyou, I love Kagome. I need to stay by her. I loved you once but now I see that that wasn't meant to be. Your dead and we both need to move on. I really love her.", Inuyasha said carefully.

"Is that what you think? That you love that girl more then me? Your a fool. You could never be as happy with her as you would with me. It still doesn't change my offer though. Even if you don't think you love me there still has to be a part of you that wants to help me. Things will be clearer for us both after the Shikon no Tama is completed. You and I will both see where our destiny is and if at that time you still think it is with her then so be it, I'll leave you both, but if as I think you realize your future is with me we can both live in peace. I can sense the shikon fragments so this way you would also be preventing putting the girl in any more danger. She would be safe here with her friends and family. If not for me do it for her."

Inuyasha considered this. He could not only help Kikyou find a way to move on but also keep Kagome out of harms way by doing this. It would take some convincing to get Kagome to stay here but he would make sure she understood he was not doing this to get away with Kikyou but so that Kikyou could move on and they could be together without that damn jewel in the way.

"Alright Kikyou, I'll help you complete the jewel.",He said.

"Good. I'll be right here tomorrow morning at sunrise.", She leaned in to kiss him on the cheek,"Everything will soon be much clearer my love."

With that Kikyou walked away leaving him with his thoughts.

"I will win you back from that bitch, Inuyasha. No matter what I won't let her have you. You belong to me."

CHAPTER 6
