The newly mated couple sat in an extremtly tall tree, both clothed now, since it was getting chiller outside by the minute. The only thing was that Inuyasha had his haori wrapped around Kagome, since all she had was her kimono. She said the cold didnt bother her as much anymore, but he insisted she wear his haori.
Inuyasha was awake and starring across to the horzion, and every few minutes, he would look down in his arms at the sleeping girl. That made him smile more than the horizion ever could.
'Shes my mate. Kagome...I love her, and she loves me...Naraku is gone, Kikyo is gone too...we have a chance to be happy now...'. He felt as if he was dreaming, and he was going to wake up soon, and find himself alone in a tree, and Kagome off somewhere in her time. But the sore skin on his neck was a reminder that this was real. He reached up to touch the bite mark Kagome had left him.
It was usually the male who would leave the mark on the woman's neck, marking her, and that would be it. But Kagome, of course, didnt like to follow everyone else. Her instinct was to bite him as well. She had left him a marking, but hers had been more nerve racking than his. He was nervous he could hurt her with his bite, she was nervous she could kill him. She knew if she sunk her teeth in his neck to much, she would drain his soul, but he trusted her, and she left him the perfect mark, right at the back of his neck.
He looked down at her mark, which was slightly smaller than his, seeing as her fangs where slightly bigger than his. He loved those fangs. The feeling of running his toungue over them when they kissed...it was amazing.
He let his eyes fall down to her belly, and he began to think of kids. He knew it was hard for her type of demons to get pregnant, which was understandable. If they could get pregnant easily, every time they went out to seduce and steal a soul, they could come back with 5 kids. He shook his head. It was okay for now, at least he wouldnt have to worry about her being pupped anytime soon. He wanted kids one day, just not now, or anytime soon. He wasnt ready to share her yet.
She moved in her sleep a little bit, and a few seconds later, she opened her sleepy eyes. "Hello there." He gently said. She smilied at him and said "Hello my love." She sat up a little and kissed him on the cheek. She looked out twards the sun, which was now setting. "Maybe we should get back to the others, their probably worried." Inuyasha knew she was right, but that didnt mean he wanted to leave their spot. "Yea..I guess." He let his ears droop, tryin to act all depressed, but Kagome knew otherwise. "Oh please, Inuyasha. Im hungry and I know your hungry too. We're bonded, remeber?" Their blood bond. It allowed them to feel eachothers emotions, and phyical pain. They would not feel it to the fullest, but there will be a sence of it. At least now there wouldnt be anymore secrets.
She rested her head by his neck for a moment while saying "We'll have a lot of time to ourselfs now, dont worry." He smilied down at her, and picked her up. "Sorry Kagome, but your probably never going to walk anywhere again." He joked. She let out a small laugh and kissed his cheek again, then cuddled into his arms. "Thats okay, I dont mind." He kissed her forehead and ran twards the village.
+ In Kaede's Hut +
Inuyasha and Kagome walked in the hut to find everyone sitting around the firepit eating dinner. "Where have you two been?" Miroku asked with a sly look. Sango glared at the monk, then looked at her friend confusingly. Kagome moved her hair to show the bite mark, explaining everything. Sango got up and hugged her friend, "Congradulations. You two deserve it." "Thank you Sango." Kagome said. She leaned in to Sango's ear and said "And you and someone else deserve something else too." The comment made Sango blush furiously, but the two girls giggled never the less.
Inuyasha plopped down by the fire pit, and got two bowls of food, one for him and one for Kagome, who sat down next to him. The gang ate, while talking to eachother about the future, Shikon Shards and Kohaku, before the topic of Kagome's time came up.
"What do you plan on doing?" Miroku asked Kagome. Inuyasha looked at her, relizing they hadnt talked about this yet themselves. "Well," Kagome started. "I really cant go back to school like this," She looked at her claws. "Demons are really alowed in school." "What about your family?" Sango asked, knowing her family was important to her. "Im not going to forget about them or anything. If I was still living in my time as a normal girl, I would be moving out on my own in a few years anyway. Im just doing it a little earlier than most." "You mean your going to stay here forever?!" Shippou asked, jumping into Kagome's lap. "Hai, Shippou. I will still visit my family and whatnot, but this will be my home from now on." She took Inuyasha's hand in hers and gave it a light squeeze. He gave it back. "And when the well closes?" Kaede asked. This was the question everyone dredded, especially Kagome. "I will still live here." She stated. "For my family....well, there is a special technique, the my followers know. They can basically move themselves from one place to another, without actually running or walking or flying. Its called shimmering.
(A/n: if youve ever seen the show Charmed, you can get the idea)
"My followers dont live in a certain time era, or a place. They live on a demonic plane, no where really specific. Shimmering is how they get from there to here, or anyother time period they wish. If they can teach me, I wont need the well anymore." It was hard to describe all these things to the gang, but there wasnt anytime for any futher explination. Two forms 'shimmered' into the room behind Kagome. Speak of the devil.
"Ohyaku. We have come to check upon you." One said as he bowed. Kagome stood up and said "I am fine, thank you. Where have you been, may I ask?" The second form stepped in closer, and it turned out to the be the leader-looking-one. "Enenra wishes to see you." Through their bond, Inuyasha could feel Kagome get nervous for a second, that made him nervous. "Is it ugent?" She asked. The leader-like follower shook his head, no. "Not urgent, but he does wish to see you soon." Kagome let out a sigh of relife. "Then, stay for a little while. No need to leave yet."
She sat back down next to her mate, who immediatly took her hand and held it tight. The leader-like follower saw this, and let out a small growl. Kagome and Inuyasha both heard it, Kagome ignored it, and Inuyasha sent him a death glare. The two followers sat down near Kagome and the air fell still.
"Guys," Kagome finally spoke. "This is Kubikajiri," She gestured to the quieter one. "and Kyuketsuki." She gestured to the follower-like one. Kubukajiri waved and smiled, while Kyuketsuki just nodded. They were both sitting indian style, but Kubukajiri sat more like a child, and Kyuketsuki sat like Inuyasha normally did, arms crossed and pissed of look on his face. After a moment, he spoke. "Ohyaku," But Kagome cut him off. "Please, call me Kagome." She smilied at him. "Your human name?" He clarified. Kagome nodded. Kyuketsuki let out a sigh of dissapointment, but continued talking. "Ka-gom-e, why is it that you smell like dog? You did not smell like this a few days ago." Kagome squeezed Inuyasha's hand, willing him to be quiet. He tried, but a loud growl slipped out. Kyuketsuki looked at him. "Dont tell me..." He started. "Dont tell me, you have mated with this...Inu-hanyou." He looked in Kagome's eyes, which gave her chills. "Hai, I..I have. Inuyasha is my mate." Why was she so nervous? He was her follower. Not the other way around.
Kagome sat up straighter, and cleared her voice. "Inuyasha has been my mate since earlier today. Do you wish to voice any concerns?" The air of formality shocked everyone for a minute, but they relized Kagome was part of a higher class demon now, this was how she was suppose to act in the presence of another demon. "Nope. Not at all. Have you let Enenra know abotu your choice?" He asked. Kagome slumpped back down and shook her head. "I figured."
Inuyasha had enough of this. "What is your problem?! Arent you suppose to be her follower? Not her superior!" Inuyasha yelled while glaring at Kyuketsuki. Kubikajiri looked as if he was going to speak, but a glare from Inuyasha shut him up. Kyuketsuki spoke again. "I am her follower. I am just concerned for her well being. And you will do good to shut up mutt." Sango, Miroku, Shippou, and Kaede all slowly inched away from the firepit.
"WHY YOU-" Inuyasha began to yell, but Kagome cut him off. "WILL YOU TWO STOP IT?!" She looked at her mate with pleading eyes, he shut up. She turned back to her followers. "What is it that Enenra wishes to see me about?" Kubikajiri spoke up. "He wishes to see you about your powers. Your older than you were when you first got the, and there are new things you should know." He glanced at Inuyasha. "And chances are he will want to meet your mate."
Kagome looked at Inuyasha and took his hand again, and stood up. Her followers also stood. "Lets go now then." "NOW?" The Inu-gang said. Kagome nodded. "I want to get this over and done with."
Kubukajiri reached out and took Kagome's hand, and Kagome gave Inuyasha a look, telling him it was nothing to worry about. He nodded, but still didnt like it. They looked at Kyuketsuki, who shimmered off. Kubukajiri sighed, and shimmered himself, bringing the two mated hanyous with him.
