InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Hauntings ❯ The breakfast meeting ( Chapter 5 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

When she said it was going to be a long day, she was right. Nothing had gone as planned! After discovering that she was out of cookies she went to the fridge for milk, but once she started to pour some into a glass the most sickening smell drifted up to her. Covering her nose she quickly threw the carton away and poured what was in the glass down the sink. Then she looked at the clock, it was almost seven! How exactly did she sleep in?! She rushed upstairs to her room, nearly ramming into her mom who was on her way to the kitchen.

Throwing open her closet door she reached for a pair of jeans and a shirt, but found them all gone. She fell back on her bed…she had forgotten to do the laundry last night. Sighing she picked out a green skirt and white blouse from her dresser. She said she wanted to forget the dream for today anyway right? She began striping off her black PJs. She could get away with skipping the morning shower. She'll just take one when she gets home from the mall today.

Inuyasha sat silently, watching the girl from beside her bed. She woke up a lot slower than she usually did. He smirked as she traced her lips with a finger, he had expected her to fade from the dream right after he kissed her, but she actually remained for several minutes longer. Not that he was complaining. She slowly untangled herself from her covers and headed downstairs. He would have to wait until she goes to sleep for his chance to talk with her. This time, no distractions, they are just going to talk.

He glanced at the clock; she would be back up in a few minutes, she had woken up late. Getting up off the floor he moved over to the closet. He would play with her a little. He didn't like seeing her in `his' outfit all the time. It looked good on her but he wanted her to ware something different today. With a motion of his hand the door creaked open revealing her seemingly never ending supply of jeans. He smirked, this was too easy.

He sat back on her bed as she burst into her room, throwing open her closet door. He rather enjoyed the surprised look on her face when she saw her wardrobe almost completely empty. He shifted a little as she fell back onto her bed, had she been able to she would have fallen into his lap, but she just fell right through him, her hair ruffled and spilling out over his knees. She gave a heavy sigh and then turned to her dresser. She chose a short green skirt and a long sleeve blouse, not exactly the shirt one would ware with a skirt so short but she would deal.

Inuyasha's eyes widened as she lifted her top off and reached behind to undo her bra. Wasn't she supposed to go downstairs to the bathroom for her shower?! She began taking off her pants. He had to look away, he may be a ghost but he was not a pervert.

`Still, it will be very long before I ever forget what I've just seen...damn…' If he had flesh, he would be blushing.

Kagome finished getting dressed and went to brush her hair. Inuyasha stood behind her, as he did every morning for the past few months, and watched her. He new her every move, her flawless rituals that she performed everyday. Something was going to change. He was not going to let her continue. After all these years he was finally able to reach someone. He wanted to talk with her. He wanted to be with her. Even if they were only dreams, he wanted to be able to touch something again. He isn't living or dead…he just exists…

She headed downstairs and Inuyasha followed, Buyo Kagome's lazy fat-cat looked up at Inuyasha and yawned. He was used to the ghost-boy being around and so wasn't bothered. Kagome sat down at her seat and looked up at her mother.

“Mom, do you thing maybe I could just have a bowl of Special-K?” She asked.

Souta's mouth was hanging wide open, his spoon dropping from his hand. Her mom just smiled. “Sure dear, let me just finish with this sausage and I'll get right to it.”

“Its ok mom, I'll make it myself.” She got up and went to the cupboard for a bowl and poured herself some of her favorite cereal. She used to eat it everyday, before the nightmares. `Should I call them dreams now? I wasn't all that scared last night. At least, not at the end.' She could still feel how soft his lips felt when he—she shook her head, dislodging any images from her dream.

She reached into the fridge but then remembered. “Uh, Mom. We're out of milk.”

“We are? Oh dear, I'll have to go buy some more today. Check the bottom drawer; I usually keep a 12oz bottle for back up.”

“Thanks mom! And don't worry, I'm going to the mall today, I'll stop buy the convenience store on the way back.”

“What's with all the yelling?!” Kagome looked up over the fridge door at her grandfather.

“Well grandpa, if you were EVER on time to breakfast you would understand at least a little of our conversations.” Kagome poured some milk into her cereal and then she had a rather sudden thought that Souta liked having milk with his eggs.

“Gee, thanks sis!” he smiled up at her as she walked over to her seat. Inuyasha walked by and waved his hand over his head as if to ruffle his hair.

“Souta you should really go brush your hair it looks awful.” He grandpa stated as he looked over at Souta.

Kagome snickered at her brother. He looked as if his head was just rubbed up against a balloon. Buyo trotted over and collapsed beside Kagome's chair. She stared down at him. “What's wrong Buyo? You tired?” Buyo looked up from his position in Inuyasha's lap and yawned.

“Feh, stupid girl, what do you think.” Inuyasha asked, knowing full well that she couldn't hear him. He locked gazes with the girl, though her attention was on the useless fur ball in his lap.

A shiver ran up Kagome's spine as the boy's hazel eyes flashed in front of her. “Wha?” She shook her head. “I need more sleep, I'm starting to hallucinate.” `Or maybe less sleep…” she finished off her cereal and washed her dishes.

Inuyasha scratched behind Buyo's ear as Kagome scrambled to get her things together. Maybe he would go out to the mall with her, it would be better than staying in her room and contemplating how he was going to mess with her. He stood up, Buyo just passing through him, and stood by the door as Kagome said goodbye to her mom and little brother, then followed her out quickly so as not to be stuck within the house. He probably would have remained stuck in that school if she hadn't come there three months ago…

She had come to enroll and check out the campus…it was just another new girl so he wasn't all that interested in her, until she sat down to rest. She sat down in the shade of `his' tree, she looked rather sad, but once he stat down beside her she smiled. She smiled at `his' presence, even if she could not see him, her smile was what caught him. He really liked her smile. He followed her through the rest of the campus. Every time she stopped and stared at something, looking confused, he would start explaining. Even though she couldn't hear him, she would just smile and continue walking. He followed her everywhere on the campus, except when she stopped at the girl's locker room. He followed her back to the office, to the edged of the school grounds, and without knowing it, out the front gates.

He had thrown away his life to hurt the woman he loved, because she hurt him. It was stupid and selfish. He made a mistake and now had to exist with it. For fifty years, that's what he did… exist. But maybe his existence wouldn't be so bad…if he met more fun people like this Kagome girl.

He hadn't returned to the school since he had come to stay with Kagome and her family. He hadn't left her house since he had come to stay with them. Now school was starting up in a few days and he would follow her back to his prison.

He had had plenty of time to come up with things to do to mess with people, especially Kagome. For once he was looking forward to going back. Though there was one `thing' that he was not looking forward to seeing again…well…maybe he missed `it' a LITTLE…

A/N: Well? What do you guys think? I personally do NOT like Inuyasha and Kagome having THAT kind of relationship right off, but I wanted to try it out. I'm going for the fan girl approach…HEY! Guess what the `thing' waiting at the school is? I bet most of you can! SSSHHHhh He is sleeping…

*whispers* Bye…
