Chapter 3: She's Staying Here

Sesshoumaru walked back out into the living room. He saw that the chaos had ended and that Rin sat contently on Kagome's lap watching cartoons.

"So Sesshoumaru, what are you going to do about Rin," Inu-Yasha asked.

"I'm taking her to the nearest shelter when I go to work."

Kagome looked at Sesshoumaru.

"Why don't you just let me take her? I don't have any classes today, so I have nothing better to do," she said.

Sesshoumaru looked at her. She was up to something, but he decided to ignore her.

"Fine, but I expect her to be gone before I get home. I have to go before I'm late."

With that Sesshoumaru left the house and took off towards his job.

Inu-Yasha turned towards Kagome.

"You're up to something."

"Your half-brother can be so cruel sometimes. I'm not going to let him take her to a shelter and dump her."

"Feh, you know he's going to be mad when he gets home."

"I don't care. I can handle him. Come on! Lets go shopping today. I want to get her some new cloths and some toys."

"Whatever!"

With that the two of them walked out the door with Rin and began the short walk to the mall.

Kagome better had kept her word.

Sesshoumaru walked home from work like he always did, but something had bothered him. One of the humans that he worked with had come up to him and had told him something that made the rest of his day rotten.

"Hey Sess, guess who I just saw on my break," Andrew Jenkins asked as he sat on the chair in front of Sesshoumaru's desk.

"I don't care."

"Well, I'm going to tell you anyway. I went over to the mall for lunch and I saw your half-brother and his girlfriend there. They had a little girl with them. From what I could see they were shopping for her."

Sesshoumaru had told Jenkins to go away and not to bother him anymore. He tried to dismiss the story as a lie, but it kept coming back to him. He made it to his apartment in record time. Inu-Yasha was nowhere in sight, but Kagome was. She was sitting on the floor with Rin.

"Kagome, why is she still here," Sesshoumaru demanded.

"Because she's not going to a shelter."

"Why not?"

"Because she is staying here."

"No she isn't I'm taking her to the nearest shelter first thing tomorrow."

"Fluffy, I want to stay here with you, Kagome, and Inu-Yasha. I don't want to leave," Rin said with some hope in her voice.

"Kagome, she can't stay here. I can't afford to miss work and take care of her. It's bad enough that I have to baby Inu-Yasha."

"You won't have to worry about her. She'll be my responsibility."

"Where will she sleep?"

"I moved all of my stuff into Inu-Yasha's room. She'll sleep in my room."

"Fine, but she'll be your responsibility, not mine."

With that Sesshoumaru went into his room to think about what he had just agreed to.
