Author’s Note:
Sorry for the delay, I hope you all enjoy this!!!! I do want to address one comment that was made about this story, I’m sorry if you don’t care about Koga and what happens with him but it is relevant to the story to continue with him and his 3 task that he must complete in order to mate Kanna. It will all be tied in soon enough and I am still going to be doing the modern era bit too but less frequent!!! I promise this is still a Sess/Kags fic it will just take some time. And while there is a villain in this ark of the story it will in no way shape or form be as bad as Naraku. On with the story!!!! ;)
Chapter 7:
Koga returned to camp with a lot of meat for the rest of the pack and placed it on a flat rock. The three older wolves were still trying to get the three young pups to eat all of their soup. ‘Well at least they are feeling well enough to be playful and realize how nasty that herbal soup is.’ Koga chuckled to himself as he walked away with some meat for Yenene.
Tiponya glanced back to him and smiled to herself when she noticed that Koga had gotten more than enough meat for them and that he was taking some to Yenene. She realized that as an Alpha, it was still her responsibility to take care of everyone in the pack even if they were being troublesome and walked away. ‘Yenene will always be part of the pack; even if she left for good, I will always have something waiting for her if she so decided to return.’
Yenene noticed that Koga was approaching her but she could honestly careless, ‘how dare he, a Tala who knows nothing about me, accuse me of poisoning Helki, Pakuna or Malik. I love my sisters but I also know that I would be of no use to them if I starved and died.’
As Koga approached he couldn’t help but to be taken away by the beauty of this new world. Yenene was sitting on a fallen tree’s stump with her back to him, staring at the moon as it rose in the night sky. However it was also the land just beyond the cliff’s edge, that she was at, that was just so breath taking.
“What do you want Tala?” Yenene barked while still refusing to look at him.
“You know for how hard you try to come off as, you are very stupid.” Koga smirked as he got the reaction he was waiting for. Once Yenene turned her upper body to glare at him, Koga noticed the moon’s light reflecting off her mostly black fur; her lighter gray pattern glistened in the moon light.
“And how exactly am I very stupid, Tala?” her eyes glowed a dangerous yellow color. Her anger only grew as she noticed his smirk widen.
“First I’m not the Bitch here and second you have to be really stupid to keep your back to someone you view as an enemy. If you honestly don’t trust me then why would you not keep your eyes on me when you sense me approaching you. Why would you leave your defenseless sisters in my hands?”
To say she was shocked at his logic was an understatement. He continued, “I also would like to apologize for my earlier assumption that I made. If you had intentionally poisoned the three younger ones, you would not have stuck around like you are. Only a coward would poison them and that same coward would leave the area once the Alpha was made aware of the situation, but because you stayed nearby and took the risk of Tiponya coming after you, I know I was wrong.”
Yenene turned back around to look at the moon, she wasn’t prepared for him to actually apologize. She heard a rustle but didn’t want to chance a turn around.
“You should eat that and when you are ready to return, you are more than welcome. The three young pups should be ready for travel by morning.” Koga stated as he walked back to the others to leave her to her thoughts.
Back in Japan:
Kagome entered the dining hall only to notice that she was the last one to arrive and only one spot was available, and of course it had to be on Sesshomaru’s left.
He could sense her nervousness and inwardly smirked when he also detected a slight spice of excitement.
Just as she was about to sit, everyone at the table stood. Kagome was startled and confused once more as to why such honor was being doted on her. She finally sat when she noticed Sesshomaru motioning for her to, which was followed by everyone else sitting.
The food was soon brought out for everyone and small chatter began to start up. Sesshomaru noticed that Miroku and Ayame were very quiet but decided to leave them to their own issue, they knew where he was if they needed him. He then turned his gaze to Sango and Inuyasha and noticed Inuyasha kept glacing at Kagome. Finally Inuyasha cleared his throat to get everyone’s attention.
“In the morning Sango and I are going to return back to the village. We will inform Kaede that Kagome is back and I’m sure the old Hag will want to come with us in a month’s time when we come back.” Sango elbowed him when he called Kaede an old Hag but apparently the half breed has grown accustomed to it because he didn’t even flinch when she did it.
Sango continued, “Lady Rin, Lord Sesshomaru has requested that we take you along with us. I do have a few things that I need to talk to you about within that time if it is alright with you.”
Rin looked from Sango to Kagome to Shippo and then finally to Sesshomaru. “But what about what we talked about earlier mi’ Lord? I don’t even have a new guard assigned to me yet?”
Kagome noticed Rin was sad and figured because she didn’t want to be away from Shippo. She smiled knowingly at Rin and an equally hurt Shippo when Sesshomaru addressed her.
“Rin you will be accompanying Inuyasha and Sango. You will remain for at least a month’s time and should be ready to leave in the morning. Captain Shippo, I also must inform you that you will be traveling as well; with them. While Sango trust Inuyasha with her life I do not trust Rin’s in his hand. You will stay with Rin until she is returned to the castle. I will begin to send word to the other lords of the lands to inform them that they will need to postpone their visits here. Princess Ayame and Prince Miroku, I would like to request that you stay on for a while to help in the training of Lady Kagome since she will allow Prince Miroku near her; in case she has another episode and this Sesshomaru cannot be with her.”
Everyone could hear Inuyasha grumbling under his breath in regards to Sesshomaru’s comment while Rin was internally jumping for joy, ‘one whole month with no one near but Shippo!’ “If that is your wish mi’ Lord!”
Miroku looked from Ayame to Kagome and Sesshomaru. Hope started to bloom within him as he started to form a plan to get her back on the right path, he would have to run it by Ayame later to see if she agreed with his plan.
The rest of the meal went without a hitch. Kagome couldn’t help the happiness that she was feeling every time she caught Shippo and Rin glancing at each other with their cute little smiles! She forgot about everyone at the table until a sultry voice spoke into her right ear. “And what may I ask do you find so amusing Kagome?”
An odd sensation ran down her back, she was frozen to the spot but not in a bad way. Glancing out of the corner of her eye she saw the very, VERY smug look on Sesshomaru’s face as he settled back into his spot and sipped on his sake. “No…nothing mi’ Lord just happy to be surrounded by friends and family once more.”
“You are lying Kagome.” Egeria blurted out loud before she realized she had done so.
Everyone at the table remained silent as Kagome choked on her food and Sesshomaru silently chuckled. “I’m so sorry mi’ Lady, I didn’t realize I had said that aloud.” Egeria stammered.
Virbius spoke up, “Please forgive her, it has been a very long time since she was visible and actually has to watch what she says.”
“You know what Kagome, as your Grandfather, I demand you to stop lying this very instance and tell Lord Sesshomaru what he wants to know!” Miroku quipped up humorously.
As Kagome’s face turned red everyone at the table burst into laughter, even Sesshomaru, himself, let out a chuckle. As the laughter finally died down, one by one they asked to be excused from the room to either pack or to retire to their rooms to talk, all but Sesshomaru and Kagome that is.
I hope you have all enjoyed this chapter as much, if not more, than I did writing it!!!! I am slowly getting back into the groove of things and hopefully will update sooner than I took this time!!!! Please read and review and let me know what you think!!!! ;)
