~The Girls~
"I-Inuyasha?"
"What?"
"Are we almost done going down the steps?"
"No, not yet."
Inuyasha and Miroku had been walking down what seemed to be an endless amount of stairs. Miroku yawned and rubbed his left eye trying to stay awake.
"Hey, we made it", said Inuyasha.
"Wha?"
They did make it. They finally reached the bottom of the stairs. There was a faint light coming from a crack in the ceiling. At least, there was something to keep them company.
"Inuyasha, what are we looking for exactly?", aske Miroku.
"I have no clue. We're just makin' sure we're alone" replied Inuyasha. This sent a tingle up and down Miroku's back. Someone put that hand under his pillow to scare him. It worked.
Miroku shuddered at the image, and tried to block it out of his mind. He crossed his arms and followed Inuyasha through the room. There wasn't much, unless you count the rats, the spiders, the rocks, and the water dripping from the ceiling. Inuyasha found an entrance to another room. Before he could get near it, his nose was overwhelmed with the scent of...blood.
"Dammit!", said Inuyasha as he covered his nose, trying to block out the thick scent.
"What it is Inuyasha?", asked Miroku.
Before Inuyasha could answer, a shrill cry filled the other room. Miroku cringed at the ear-piercing sound. It was the sound of a young girl, two actually. Inuyasha, without thinking, grabbed Miroku and dragged him into the room. What they're about to witness may never leave their minds.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Inuyasha walked in catiously, Miroku following behind. Inuyasha held his nose, still being overwhelmed by the all too familiar scent. Miroku looked around the walls, and gasped in horror. There were bodies of men and women, chained up to the wall. They were killed by someone or something, because parts of their bodies seemed to be ripped off them. Their hands, feet, even their heads. but, there was something strange about them. Some of them were dressed in suits and modern clothes, but some were wearing old-fasioned kimonos. Inuyasha was more shocked than startled. He and Miroku gingerly, but quickly, walked tot he next room. The scream of the same girl echoed into Inuyasha's dog ears.
"Miroku! It's the girl again! Let's hurry it up!", said Inuyasha.
Miroku nodded and ran into the next room with his friend.
When they had finally found the right room, they found two girls, chained onto the wall. One of them was struggling for her life, the other cautiously watched someone sitting by an old-fasioned stove. He seemed to be eating something.
The first girl had raven hair, chocolate brown eyes, and was wearing a blue and white yukata. She kept trying to free herself from the shackles that held her in place.
The second had brown hair, almost the same color eyes the first girl had, but a little lighter. She wouldn't move.
Inuyasha entered first.
"Hey, you girls alright?", he asked quietly.
The raven-haired girl turned around and stopped struggling. She stared into Inuyasha's amber eyes, not moving, nothing. The person sitting at the stove immediately noticed and turned around. Miroku gagged when he saw what the person was doing. He was eating sometihng that was beating, it was spewing up blood. He was eating the human heart of one of his victims.
Inuyasha cracked his knuckles.
"Well, maybe this place won't be as boring as I thought!", said Inuyasha.
"Please, help us! He won't let us leave!", said the first one.
"Yeah, hold on a sec while I kill this maniac",replied Inuyasha.
"Huh. I'm going to have those girls for dinner. Noone's going to stop my ritual!", yelled the man.
"Too bad", said Inuyasha.
He lunged at him. The man jumped back and picked up a knife. Inuyasha ran at him, but he jumped away. Miroku, meanwhile, searched frantically for something, anything, to free the girls. He found a jackhammer and ran back over to the girls. He swung at the chains, trying to break them. Inuyasha suddenly cried out. The girls gasped and Miroku turned around. There was blood on the man's knife. Inuyasha was on the floor, holding his side.
"Inuyasha!"
"I'll be fine. Just free the girls!"
Miroku nodded and kept hitting the chains, until they broke. Inuyasha got up and faced the man, again.
"Come on! We have to get out of here!", said Miroku. He grabbed both girl's hands and led them out of the chamber. Inuyasha ran to the entrance and struck the wall. It began to crack with each hit. Inuyasha slashed at it on final time, and it crumbled. The pile of rubble blocked the man's path, so he was now trapped. Miroku ran of the stairs, the girls following. Inuyasha was right behind.
Inuyasha's attack on the wall seemed to upset the balance of the underground chambers and they all began to fall. The stairs were about to let themselves fall as well. Miroku and the two girls had already made it to the kitchen. Inuyasha frantically ran up the now collapsing flight of stairs.
"Hurry, Inuyasha! You're almost here!", yelled Miroku.
Inuyasha jumped through the entrance and the wall of the kitchen crashed down on the once secret and horrifying chambers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Inuyasha was gasping for air, since he was righting for his life down there.
The raven-haired girl walked up to Inuyasha and she kneeled down in front of him.
"You're Inuyasha?", she asked.
"Yeah? What of it?"
"I just wanted to thank you. He was going to eat me and my friend here."
Miroku stood up with a smile on his face.
"At least you two are safe now. May I ask for your names?", he asked grinning.
"I am Kagome, and this is Sango."
"I want to thank you, too. We would've been killed", said Sango softly.
"How the hell did you end up here in the first place?!", asked Inuyasha.
"Well...", Kagome started.
"We both had gone to a festival. It was a family tradition to go to the festival every year. But, this year, I had went alone with Sango to the festival. She thought it was boring and pointless, but I loved it. There, we had meant that man down there.His name was Naraku. He asked us if we had come by ourselves. We said yes and he knocked us both out, using a club. He dragged us to his mansion and we were chained up like that. I woke up first and found Sango right beside me. She was still out cold, when I checked. Naraku came up to me and told me that he was going to cut out my organs and eat them...and I was just...", she trailed off.
She looked at the ground, clenching her fists. She was crying. Inuyasha looked up at her when he smelled saline and water.
"Don't cry. You're safe now", said Inuyasha, trying to comfort her.
To his surprise, she embraced him. He began to blush madly. She was warm and she seemed to had lost all fear with him. Sango began to giggle, and Miroku had a sly look in his eyes.
"Uhh...Kagome, y-you can let go now", studdered Inuyasha.
Kagome let go and and gave him a smile that could light up the world. Inuyasha looked away from her, still flushed.
Miroku checked his watch.
"Hey, guys. It's 4:37 P.M., what should we do?", asked Miroku.
"I think I'll go take a bath. We were down there for a few weeks. Don't ask me why he didn't eat us the first day. I don't want to think about him anymore", said Kagome.
"I'll come with you", said Sango.
"I don't think you should be taking a bath. Who knows who else might live here?", advised Miroku.
"But...", started Kagome.
"He's right, Kagome. We can freshen up tommmorow", said Sango.
"Oh...alright", said Kagome sadly.
Kagome really wanted to take a bath and wash away her fears, and the dirt. But, they were concerned for her. She understood.
"Hey, guys", said Inuyasha.
"Yeah?"
"Let's go explore this place. We need to get a hang of what this place is like, or else we'll just be running in circles if someone does come."
Everyone nodded in agreement and walked back to the parlor. They started with the first door Inuyasha had opened.
