The man they'd been talking to earlier leap forward stabbing at *Bonkotsus' midsection.

Sango and Kagome watched in what seemed like slow motion as the guy that had given them the box leap forward and stabbed at the leader's stomach. Bonkotsu shifted to the side making the attacker stumble. And that's where it ended. Bonkotsu brought his large sword straight across the back of the stumbling mans neck. For a second it looked like Bonkotsu had missed. They watched in terror as the head slowly separated from the body. The cut was so clean and fast the body continued to twitch and the head laid only meters away pooling in its own blood. While the body was still twitching the guy in the woman's kimono walked forward and searched the body as if nothing had happened.

“It's not here Bonkotsu. He must have hidden it some were near by.”

“Then stop talking and start looking”

Sango was first to react this time. She grabbed her friends arm and they took off on their bike intent on making it home.

`We're almost there.' Kogome and Sango thought as one. They were pushing them selves to the limit. There were men looking for them and something told them that their deaths wouldn't be as quick as the strangers. Only one thought raced through their minds `Safety. Gotta get to Safety'

Kagome looked up from her mad pedaling to see the gates to the city started their decent.

`NO!' This couldn't be happening. They were being chased by a bunch of murderers. `I can't believe I'm going to die because of a law that was made to protect me' Sango looked at Kagome with a similar look. `The irony.'

They looked on as the gates slammed into the ground with a dull thud.

`What do we do ???' the question race through both teens minds. Kagome looked at Sango with Questioning eyes.

“I…” Sango stopped and looked between the path they had come form and the city gates. Her mind was made up. “ We run and hide.” With that she took off into the forest with Kagome close behind.

They entered the forest one behind the other. It was as if someone had plunged them into total darkness. Their eyes were taking their sweet time adjusting to the darkness.

`I can see anything' Sango peered into the forest trying to get a better look. “Tree!!!!!” Sango slammed on her brakes nearly causing Kagome to run into her.

“Sorry Kagome. It's just so dark.”

“It's all right” She hopped off her bike and looked to Sango. “So what do we do now??”

“Let's just get a far as possible for those murderers. Agreed?”

“Agreed.”

----------------------------------------------------(Half an Hour Later)----------------------------------------------------

“Kagome the bikes are slowing us down. We got to ditch them.”

“Yea. I know.” sigh `And mama just got me this one.' “Good bye bike you served me well.” They dropped her bikes and continued deeper into the dark forest.

------------------------------------------------(Two Hours Later)---------------------------------------------------------

“Ahhhhh! We've been walking forever I feel like my feet are going to fall off!”

“I know Kagome, but if we stop now those murderers might find us.”

“Yea but they didn't even see us Sango.”

“Yea but if you remember right, they had been following that guy for a while and when they caught him.” She made a cutting motion with her finger that was wasted on Kagome in the darkness.

“But that was different. They knew who they were looking for.”

“They also tracked him. Most likely they've already found our bike tracks and know were in the forest.”

Kagome gave a small “Oh.” As their pace suddenly quickened.

-------------------------------------------------------------(Thr ee Hours Later)--------------------------------------------

`This walking it driving me crazy!'… “Sango can we stop yet?”

“No”

“Plzzzz…”

“No”

“Aw come on Sango. We can't see anything. If we get hurt we'll be even slower. Plus it seems to be getting darker and it's already 2:00am.”

“Kagome don't you remember what that guy said.”

FLASH BACK

“I guess I can't run from them any longer.”

END of FLASH BACK

“You remember how tired he looked. We're not stopping.”

“Right.” They walked on further into the darkness oblivious that with each step the darkness became even blacker. Even the wildlife seemed to stray from the inky blackness.
