New Bonds

Kagome gently lifted Inuyasha's head and placed it in her lap. “Darn it all.” She mumbled. “I must be the unluckiest person in the world.”

`What are you, crazy? You've got one of the most powerful and not to mention beautiful men of all time totally under your control and you think you're unlucky. I mean he's so much more interesting than the guy's from school.'

Kagome gave a mental sigh. “Here I go again talking to myself…”

`But you know he is kind of good looking…' “Ah! What the hell am I thinking? He just tried to kill me!…” `But then again he only started acting that way after he nearly died protecting me.' She looked down at the oblivious Inuyasha. “Amazing he doesn't have a scratch on him.” Finally she came to a decision. “Inuyasha I made you a promise and I intend to keep it whether you like it or not.”

She played with his hair as she went over the events that had transpired during the last few hours. Out of all the events to happen today one struck a sour note in her mind.

(Flash)

“As you wish, Master.”

(End)

It was really bugging her. “You're not a slave.” She whispered. She let out another small sigh. “I'm really sorry you got hurt because of me but… but thank you.” She continued to play with his hair as she looked at the stars that were slowly revealing themselves, as it became darker. She couldn't help but think of another.

`I have someone to protect me, but what about you Sango? Are you OK?'

………………………&# 8230;………….*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*… ;…………………………R 30;…….

Sango's eyes snapped open to see treetops rushing by below her. She instantly grabbed onto the closest object and held on for dear life.

“I'm in the air but that means…” she slowly turned her head to see exactly what she had her arm wrapped around. She was now looking at the back of the demon cats head. Surprise and fear made her act on reflex. Her arms let go and she pushed away from the cat only to send herself speeding toward the ground.

“Oh Shit!” she instantly started trying to build energy to launch a fireball and slow her decent. The only problem was she was still exhausted from her last exploit.

“Damn, still tapped out. I'm not getting out of this one.” She closed her eyes as the ground rushed up to meet her. Suddenly she hit something.

`Something soft? Wow that did hurt at all. I guess that's what you call a quick and painless death.'

She shivered as she felt the wind rushing past her face. She opened her eyes only to see the treetops rushing by again.

“W-what the hell?” She shifted only to see the demon cat. For some reason it had caught her before she hit the ground. She was confused to say the least.

`Why'd it save me?' Unless it planes to eat me later or feed me to it's young.

“Let me go you stupid demon. Let me go. God damn it, put me down!”

She screamed and latched onto the demon cats neck as it suddenly charged towards the ground. The landing was so smooth Sango hadn't noticed until it was clear the wind wasn't rushing by her face anymore. She loosened her grip on the demon cats neck only to be thrown to the ground when it bucked. She used the momentum of the throw to land on her feet. She locked eyes with the demon cat again. She felt herself start to freeze up.

`It going to kill me…'

(Flash)

She kept run but stopped a moment later when the trees in front of her started to break. She spun around but the sound was coming from all around her.

“Oh no.” It was a simple statement that covered her every emotion. She fell to her knees. The cracking sound of falling trees could be heard falling toward her.

`I don't want to die.'

(End Flash)

“No…” she fisted her hands. “I'm not afraid.” She whispered.

(Memory flash back)

“Sango grab your brother and run.”

“But father-”

“There isn't any time, run. The village can't hold out for much longer.”

“I can fight.”

“You can live and rebuild this village to it's glory. Sango you and you brother are the heirs to this village do not forget that. Now go.”

So she grabbed her brother and ran, eventually they ended up with another group of people that had escaped the falling of their village. Evidently a lot people had already been told where to go. Slowly they all split up going in different directions, leaving Sango and Kohaku to fend for themselves.

Sango and Kohaku didn't have any close friends or family outside of her village, but their father had mentioned numerous times that someone by the name of, Higurashi, was a great fighter. So after a few leads from neighboring cities they found themselves outside City 81.

It hadn't taken long at all to get accepted inside. Miss Higurashi had adopted them without question. That's how they'd ended up meeting the Higurashi's and becoming part of a new family. They were happy but Sango's memories haunted her. She'd believed she was too weak to help in the fight. And so when she found out that Mr. Higurashi had died fighting long before she arrived she trained, and trained, and trained…

(End of memory)

Her eyes hardened as she looked at the demon in front of her.

“I'm the heir to the Demon Slayer Clan and I will not lose to some pathetic demon.” She stood tall, eyes holding hardness usually found in war veterans.

The demon cat gave roar that would have given most people a heart attack and sent them running in the opposite direction, but Sango had found her center.

She watched the demon cat open its mouth and gave off a bone-chilling roar.

`I will not, run away. You're mine.'

Her eyes went wide when the cat suddenly eloped itself in flames until it was a giant ball of flames. The ball of flames slowly receded until the only thing left was a, tiny two-tailed cat. It was a cuter, miniature version of the demon cat that'd just been staring her down.

“Wh- What happened?” She watched as the cat sat down and started cleaning itself.

She blinked a couple of times before she started backing up. Maybe it can only stay in that form for a limited amount of time. She turned and jogged off in the other direction.

`There's no point in fighting a battle and wasting energy I might need later.'

Twenty minutes she finally flopped down against a tree for a long deserved rest.

She'd just closed her eyes and relaxed against the tree when something landed on her lap. She opened her eyes only to see the miniature demon cat walking in small circles on her lap.

“Wh—How?” she was completely stumped. ` Why'd it follow me? Especially in that form?'

The cat simply plopped itself down in her lap, gave a soft mew, and closed its eyes.

Sango was so tired and so passed confused.

`I wonder if running from death is actually worse than just accepting it.' And with that she fell asleep.

OK. I know this chapter was short, boring, and not really interesting, But hey I had to get into Sango's past sooner or later and I cleared up most of Kagome's at the same time. I love my Reviews. I must read them once before and after school. I know it's weird but I'm so proud I got so many with only 10 chapters. I really wasn't expecting many. God this story is fun! I can wait till I get my new computer online. Then I'll be typing every chance I get. OK well I got Basketball practice. But I promise an interesting or funny chapter next time. I'm trying to stay consistent but it's too hard.

Well until next time…
