InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Journal ❯ The Return and the Kill ( Chapter 3 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
I walked for days in a daze. I really don't know why I went back to the castle, I just did. About a half a day away from the castle, my uncle Yoshiie and other riders came upon me on the road. He was older looking then I remembered him to be. He was shocked to see me. He probably didn't recognize me at first; I was three years older and a perfect mess.
One of his men gave me a flask of water and some rice. My stomach was grateful because I hadn't eaten in days. He asked me why I was here and where was his sister. I broke down and cried while I explained, and for the first time in a long time, I felt some ones embrace; my uncle was holding me and he was crying as well. He loved his sister, even though she mated with a demon, they were still twins. He picked me up and placed me on his horse and sat behind me. He took me back to the castle that way.
The welcoming committee was quite shock to see me, especially my grandfather. He went in a rage and tried to attack me. But uncle protected me, just like he did at by birth. My grandfather wasn't all that upset in hearing that his daughter died. I wanted to claw his face.
My ningen family took me back in. I was treated like the member of the family; after all, I was the first grandchild. They gave me rich clothing and an unending supply of food. It was weird being in the castle without my mother, but I was treated differently this time. People actually respected me.
Not too long after my return, my lessons began. My mom had taught me kana when she was still alive, but not kanji. Kanji back then was forbidden for woman to learn. So my lessons began on how to write and read kanji and speak Chinese. I was a quick learner. My uncle gave me hand on hand training on how to fight and how to use a sword. He told me that I had skill and lots of strength but I needed to learn how to control it.
It was kinda nice, you know. My uncle became like a father to me. He only had a daughter at this time but his wife had died of the illness, so he had no male heir yet. None of my other uncles had had kids, so I was the only male. Even though I was a son to a demon, they treated me like family. Well, except for my grandfather, who was an ass.
My cousin and I, Kasumi, became inseparable. We did almost everything together. She was four when I first came, so there was a two year difference to us. I introduced her to the forest. We would sneak out and run away from out vassals when we had no lessons and just explored. It was like our own world and no one knew about it.
I lived at the castle for about 7 years like that. My uncle had two boys during this time, Yoshichika and Yoshitada. But he never stopped caring for me. By this time I had become an excellent fighter and was fluent and Chinese and a fast reader. Life was good. When I was thirteen, I received my own swords and was allowed to go into the court for the first time ever. It was the year 1067. I was starting puberty by this time and a hanyou going through puberty was and is not a pleasant thing.
We were meeting with some people from the Abe clan. We had become allies awhile back when my uncle defeated them. I was so excited; I probably looked like a dork. One of the Abe clan member's sons made rude remarks about me and I ignored him at first but he kept on doing it. My uncle gave me a look as if to say I would do anything about it. I really didn't want to. Suddenly everyone thought it would be fun for the kids to have a duel. I really don't know how it came to that. This boy was older then me, about sixteen, I thought I was no match for him.
We were evenly matched. Everyone watched us with amusement and my uncle had such pride in his eyes. Suddenly the kid got pissed and hit my hand so hard that my katana flung out of my grip. Before I could grab my wakizashi, he pounced on me and began to stab me in the chest multiple times. A pond was near by and he picked me up and jumped into it to drown me. Suddenly I saw red and attacked him. Everyone stopped in there tracks to rescue me and watched me slaughter the teen with my claws.
I stopped and looked got a good look at my enemy. He was dead. I was a horrible sight, my nice clothing was torn, ripped, and covered in blood. My white hair was stained and my hands were soaked in his blood. When I looked upon the eyes of the others, I began to tremble. Everyone had fear and shock in there eyes. My uncle's eyes were unreadable.
I began to plea that I was sorry and it wasn't my fault and in a daze, they lead back into the castle and into the cellars. They opened a door that was on the floor and dropped me into a deep and smelly pit. There were bodies of other prisoners in the pit and it was cold, dark, and wet. The last thing I saw before they locked me into the darkness was my uncle Yoshiie's face as tears escaped from his eyes. Then I was alone in the dark.
I let out a sigh. Writing down these memories was going to get harder. Forgotten emotions were boiling back up and I knew I couldn't write anymore for today.
“Nurse!” My raspy voice yelled. Soon after, a male nurse came in with an irritated face. He hated me and I knew it.
“What?” He asked.
“Get me some sleeping pills. I want to rest.” I ordered. He grumbled, but obediently went out to do his job. The next few chapters were going to be harder and harder to write.
