Chapter 6
10:30pm
The full moon shone over the harbour, outlining the infected walking aimlessly on the docks. They stopped to look at the road that entered the docks. Something was moving...something alive...something uninfected...something...human.
The pack dashed after the speeding car that was fast approaching them. Kagome roared at them to be squashed, to feel pain, to die. The infected attacked in futile. It wasn’t the sports car but a rather big Land rover.
All of them were flung off their feet, their limps broken or their organs flattened and failing, ending their lives. One by one they fell before the tires of the black car. A few minutes later, the pack was dead.
Kagome panted at the wheel. This wasn’t like her to kill in madness. This wasn’t her nature. But they took Hope away. The last friend she had.
As Kagome drove back to her home, she begins to calm and think of what she did. True that pack sent the dogs after she and Hope but the pack she killed, infected or not, were still human. But to Kagome it didn’t feel the same. She still has to find a cure but with recently what happened, Kagome isn’t sure she could carry on.
Hope was a kitten when Kagome found her, injured in some foliage on her shrine. She thought it was a normal cat at the time. She took care of her and raised her and that was when Kagome knew Hope was a youkai. She gave off an aura that only she, InuYasha and other Youkai in the city could feel. But since then, Hope became a valued friend. The neko was there for Kagome when she was alone. Now she was gone, protecting Kagome from a certain death.
Said person walked like a zombie up the huge steps. The events she did almost overtook her. It was just about to get a bit more surprising. The moment she reached the top of the steps, Kagome’s heart stopped and leapt to her throat.
The well house door was open... Kagome jumped out of skin when something jumped from the God Tree. Silver and red shone in the moonlight. Amber met chocolate brown.
InuYasha was back.
“Hey Kagome...W-“
He didn’t finish as Kagome bulldozed herself into him, her arms wrapping around him, not letting him go. All InuYasha could hear under whimpers and haggard breathes was:
“InuYasha...you’re...back...thank ....goo...dness” Kagome began to cry and clutched onto his cloth of the fire rat tighter while InuYasha held her as she sobbed into his chest, making little soothing noises to calm her down.
He was here...he really was...
There was one thing left in Kagome’s mind now,
I’m never letting you out of my sight again InuYasha

After several tearful moments, Kagome lead InuYasha inside her house. All she could do was cry on his shoulder and all InuYasha could do was hold her. He missed her a lot as well. How much he wanted to hold Kagome like this. He kept rubbing her back and her sobs grew quieter. Eventually InuYasha could tell she was tired. He locked down the house before taking the dozy miko upstairs to her room.
She wasn’t wearing much, just a tank top and tracksuit trousers. InuYasha placed her under the covers, removing his Hitoe and Kosode before joining her, holding Kagome close to him as she cried herself to sleep.

Both InuYasha and Kagome watched as the helicopter began to hover above the ground when screams echoed throughout the area. Over in the distance, another helicopter took off but a group of frightened people broke the military’s defences and made a grab for the helicopter’s landing gear.
This caused the flying vehicle to spin out of control and spun in the sky.
Kagome and InuYasha crouched to the ground as it flew over their heads, but time stopped for Kagome as the helicopter crashed into the one her family was in.
“NOOOO!”
“Lieutenant Kagome! Come on... we must...” But she wasn’t listening. Kagome had just watched her family die. InuYasha was trying to get Kagome back up on her feet, but then she slipped back to the ground and fainted, silent tears falling from her eyes.
Her mother and brother were now gone...
