Chapter 8
“Have you done it?!” Taka asked. The moment he and the others learned that Kagome had found a possible cure, Taka couldn’t sit still for long.
“I might have found something that might work but it’s too early to know for sure. I need to test it on another infected and if it has similar results then it may be a cure”.
After Kagome and InuYasha informed their guests of their recent discovery, they planned to set out tomorrow morning to find another infected person. They would be too smart to fall for another snare trap so Kagome and InuYasha grabbed whatever weapons they had and went to the abandoned building Kagome caught the last infected. Luckily one wondered too close to the entrance and they caught the infected with ease, trying their hardest to avoid his snapping mouth.
Now with another infected bound down on a table, Kagome injected the ‘cure’ into his vein. At first nothing happened and Kagome and InuYasha began to lose hope. But then, the infected began to spasm. His breathing was slowing, his veins were changing, the black fading and the greyish skin tone began to have colour return.
It worked. A cure that finally worked on humans.
Kagome let out a cry of happiness as she hugged InuYasha tightly, his arms sweeping her from her feet as he spun her around. Humanity may have a future.

“Why didn’t you tell me about this immune settlement? Have you been there?”
Taka took a breath. He forgot to mention about the last remaining immune humans who lived in a settlement in the mountains, where the infected never dare to go. Some of the military gathered the remaining immune survivors to form a new home and where they may still reside today...
“Well it’s only a rumour but if we get the cure there, we may be able to work with the military that remain to form a plan to cure the infected”.
Kagome could believe what she was hearing. They waited now to tell her this? At least they told her now than never. Before she could ask more, InuYasha dragged her out the room, muttering about something he had to say to her.
“Before you beat me to a pulp let me say what I found about the Youkai scent”.
Kagome nodded to let him continue.
“I followed the trail and lead to some underground area where it was really strong. Maybe there is something there that can aid us?”
So the next morning Kagome and the others set out to the place InuYasha found. She armed them all with guns filled with the antidote that when shot will let out darts that inject the infected with the cure. Then they will be able to get the infected out and back to the lab.
InuYasha lead the way down the stairs towards the subway.
