So now without further redo (how ironic, redo) here is chapter 12. *here is where a happy face should be*

Chapter 12: Training

Kagome was hysterical. She was holding the picture of Kouga that her friends had given her that morning and was desperately trying to tape it to her door. Unfortunately, she was laughing so hard that she had to ask for help taping it up. She stepped back and admired it, slowly calming down. She turned a cheerily to her friends.

"Aw, this is one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me!" She brushed a hair out of her face. "I just wish I could've been there to join in. I found I've been harboring a lot of anger lately and it would've been nice to get some of it out."

"The only way to get all of it out is to beat the living shit out of Naraku, which reminds me…" Kagome was about to speak when Rin interjected.

"I know what you mean Kagome. I wish I could've been there too."

"What anger have you been harboring?" asked Sango raising an eyebrow.

"I don't." she shrugged. "I just think it would've been fun to hurt someone who hurt Kagome." Kagome looked at her watch.

"I've gotta run guys. I don't know when I'll be back, but you don't have to worry about me." She added as she saw the looks on their faces.

"Where do you have to go? And why don't I know about it?" Said Inuyasha protectively wrapping his arms around her. He had been especially "clingy" lately. Kagome pushed his arms away lightly.

"I'm training with Kaede and you didn't know about it because I need to do this on my own."

"Training for what? I'm your protector." Kagome turned seriously to him.

"Inuyasha, I know I can always count on you, but last time I needed to defend myself and I couldn't. I know I have the ability too, and now I have the drive. I have to kill him myself Inuyasha and I can't do that if I don't train." Inuyasha wanted to protest about her going off on her own, but the raw determination in her eyes was silencing him. He nodded in understanding.

"So how long did you say you would be gone?" piped in Sango.

"I'm not sure. I want to get as much accomplished as possible and I know it wont be easy. I might be a day or two possibly. But again, don't worry. Kaede said that where we were going was the safest place you could possibly imagine. Oh yah, and Sango, I'm gonna have to skip another day of work."

"It's okay Kagome. I'm sort of beginning to look at you as an `undecided' employee since I never know if you're gonna show up or not." Said Sango. Kagome gave her an apologetic look. She quickly ran into her room and reappeared in 2 minutes in a dark blue, velour sweatsuit, with a white Bebe wifebeater showing under the half zipped top. Her hair was also in a ponytail.

"That, has got to be, that FASTEST change in the history of womankind." Said Rin, mouth agape.

Kagome rolled her eyes as the doorbell rang.

"That's my cue. I'll see you guys soon- don't have too much fun without me!" she said jokingly. She hugged her friends and kissed Inuyasha, sensing that he really didn't want to let go, but did anyway. Kagome opened the door and greeted Kaede, then waved to her friends before closing the door, their voices fading away.

Rin and Sango went to watch movies, Miroku and Inuyasha decided to head down to the car garage and sweat a little, and Sesshomaru (who had not been out of his room at all) remained reading in his living room.

Kagome had been driving for quite a while now. They were on the outskirts of town and there was a lot of forest.

"It's the next turn." Directed Kaede. Kagome turned onto a dirt road that lead her deep into the forest. She slowly pulled up to a small, and very old fashioned, hut. She shut the car off and unbuckled.

"It's so peaceful out here." Said Kagome blissfully. It reminded her of the land she read about in the history books, before there were modern buildings.

"I thought ye would like it here. Come inside and I shall make some tea while we talk." Kagome followed her inside and took a seat on a small cushion across from Kaede. There was a small coal pit between them where Kaede set an old, metal kettle. Kaede settled herself.

"So how have ye been Kagome. Fate has not been kind to ye as I assumed, no?" Kagome nodded.

"I need to know how to defend myself now. I can never forgive myself for being so…so… helpless."

"Yes. And I shall teach ye everything that is required to master your power, but first, I sense there are some questions ye would like to ask." Kagome watched as a thin line of steam danced silkily out of the kettle and into the air. Kaede removed the kettle and got up to prepare their drinks. She returned with two small cups, handing one to Kagome and then sitting down again.

"Please continue." She gestured.

"Well, when I first found out about the jewel, you said that there would be demons after it- but I haven't had any problems with much of anything, especially not demons, until my run in with Naraku. I know that I wasn't the one warding them off, so who?"

"Ah. That had occurred to me as well. From what I know of your encounter with Naraku, I have a hunch that he was the one who had been getting rid of them. Keeping them away, so that he alone could get to the jewel first. Luckily, he didn't succeed, but now that he attempted his plan, I do not know if he shall continue to keep them away."

"Well it makes sense alright." She sipped her tea quietly.

"Is that all Kagome?"

"Well there was one thing."

"Go ahead."

"I know that I am the protector of this jewel, but other than it containing the power to increase demon's strength, does it have a purpose? Is there any way to get rid of it?"

"Aye, there is. It takes great power, that very few posses. It is possible, that if the jewel were to be used for good not greed, than it would be purified." They both sat in silence finishing their tea before Kaede spoke up.

"Well let us begin. Follow me." She set her cup aside and walked outside, Kagome following as told. After they were sitting across from each other under the trees, Kaede continued.

"Ye hold immense power and once you have learned to bring it forth, you shall be able to use it to defend yourself and others. When ye learn to use it to the full extent, ye will find almost no boundaries to your abilities."

"So how do I find this power?"

"Before you can find the power, ye must find your core, where it resides. Close your eyes and listen to nothing but what your mind is saying. Imagine your space. The fine details, the sounds, the sights, the smells." Kagome closed her eyes and tuned out everything until she couldn't even sense the leaves of the trees rustling softly above her. She imagined a large and grassy field. There was light grass and dark green grass. Small white flowers and decorative weeds were scattered around as well as more colorful flowers of purples, pinks, and blues that kept close to the ground. While one side of the field went on forever, the other side rolled into a gentle hill that led into soft, pristine, white sand on the shore of a glimmering ocean. The waves were peacefully crashing and she could feel the soft and salty sea mist sprinkle her face. Wait- she really could feel it! She opened her eyes and her mouth dropped open. No longer was she in the forest outside Kaede's hut, but she was currently residing on the shore of her paradise! She looked in front of her and saw Kaede sitting calmly.

"Where are we?" Kagome asked in awe.

"This Kagome is the safest place ye can ever be. No one can touch ye whilst you are here, for this Kagome, is your very mind."

"I, created this?"

"Aye. It is quite beautiful."

"So where is my body? Am I still in my body or have I left it?" Kagome asked confusedly as she began to marvel at the uninhabited land around her.

"Ye are still inside your body. Your mind is a direct link to your soul, and therefore, ye have created a place where ye cannot be found for ye are already there. Do ye understand?"

"Not really, but let me try and recap this. This place is inside of me, but I can get here without leaving my body- my body is no longer on earth, because it is in my mind, so no one can find me here- am I even close or do I sound as dumb as I feel?"

"No, ye make perfect sense. If ye are ever in danger, ever in pain, or if ye simply need to get away- all ye have to do is look inside yourself and ye will find this place."

"Well you got here with me, so does that mean I can bring others along?"

"Ye catch on fast. It is possible to bring others with you here, but only if ye allow their presence."

"Huh? You lost me there."

"Ye knew you needed me here to train and therefore, ye subconsciously allowed me to be here."

"That makes more sense I guess. So now that we're here, what do we do?"

"Well, ye should make yourself comfortable, which should not be a difficult task in this realm, for I need to teach ye the summons for your power. They sound simple enough, but they take much time to understand. Fortunately, time here is altered."

"Time is altered?"

"Every minute in the outside world is amounted to an hour here. This shall prove useful in those situations in which you need more time. Time to heal, time to talk- yes, it shall be very useful." Kagome couldn't help but feel like Kaede knew something she didn't. Like she was trying to give Kagome hints about something that she didn't understand. Kagome took a seat and tried to stop her rapidly moving thoughts and listen to Kaede….
