A/N: This is a complete revision of the first fic that I wrote called Lightening Assassin. If you've already read this on Mediaminer, you might want to reread it. Thanks!

Chapter 1

It was another routine surveillance of Sesshoumaru's lands. The same path was always taken and just as boring as it has always been. But today something had caught his attention and he followed this new scent. As Sesshoumaru walked through a dense forest toward a waterfall he caught the scent of an intruder. He approached the waterfall and caught a glimpse of a woman. She had white streaked raven hair like a Siberian Tiger. Her hair was in a long braid that flowed down her back looking silky and somewhat alluring. From her scent he could tell she was human, and the fact that she was in his land bothered him even more.

The woman was adorned in black gloves which long metal blades dangled reflecting the sun light like a blinding mirror. A tight black leather vest was accompanied by a short matching leather skirt. The outfit was completed by knee high black leather boots that strapped themselves tightly around her well defined calves. A hunter. The youkai lord narrowed his eyes, never the type to wait in shadows while an intruder lurked in his lands, he stepped out.

"Who are you, and why are you trespassing on my land?" He demanded

The question evoked a small laugh from the woman. She smiled with a sickly evil grin and responded, "I am the one who will claim the life of the Lord of the Western Lands."

That in itself brought about the curiosity of the Lord. Usually he would be angered by such a comment, but for some reason she had intrigued his interest. But as usual, he wore a mask of no emotion. Cocking an eyebrow we wondered, what could this pitiful human possibly do to him, the Lord of the Western lands?

It was either Sesshoumaru's silence, or his passive expression that forced the woman to speak again. "Please don't take me lightly, I'm one of the most deadly assassins in the Japan if not the world." The woman smirked

" Then come, and prove your status."

" Before we begin, I offer my name.” She bowed gracefully and looked at Sesshoumaru, “ I am Kaminari Ken, you should know it before you die." a rue smile crossed her face more.

And then without warning she quickly charged him with a left hook slinging the blades. He dodged it with amazing grace and ease, landing softly behind her. As he was about to make contact with her right cheek, she turned around. Lightening from her aura created a shield repelling and sending him flying into a near by tree. Of course Sesshoumaru was not injured physically, but his pride had taken a blow.

He swiftly got up and this time he attacked, swinging a venomous claw her way. She jumped back and attacked with her blades once more. Sesshoumaru decided that this would be a tactical time used his whip to counter this move and rushed in for the kill. What he didn't plan on was a counter to when she delivered her attacks from above. As if someone had lifted her up, she rose into the air. Her body seemed to teem with energy and lightening erupted from the sky.

A stream of lightening followed Sesshoumaru as he dodged left and into the trees. Thinking it would be best to take her by surprise he burst from the tops of the trees on a collision course. The shield went up again and he dropped from the sky just narrowly escaping a shock. He had already learned his lesson the first time and was about to make the same mistake. I can now see why she makes such an effective assassin. Sesshoumaru admired the woman's defense, and realized she was no ordinary human, if she was human at all. None the less, he was intent on killing this intruder. She made a slow decent from the sky and landed ten feet from him.

"Would this make it easier? I really thought I'd get a fight out of you Sesshoumaru." She mocked motioning for his next move to be made.

This time Sesshoumaru did not mask his face. A look of utter annoyance was etched on his angelic features.

" You will sincerely regret that remark." Sesshoumaru said coldly with confidence. There was a short list of people who had insulted him and live and he wasn't about to add another one.

Using his speed and agility he rushed to her, jumped, and sent his whip down hard. She rolled to her right and lashed out with a combination of her blades and a lightening bolt. Sesshoumaru dodged the bolt but not the blades and landed near the waterfall with a light cut to his abdomen. Now she was ready for the kill and ran at him with alarming speed. As soon as he was on his feet, he found himself on his back. Sesshoumaru was `stunned' to find out that not only had she speared him, but she had electrocuted him as well!

" Now die Sesshoumaru!" Kaminari Ken hissed

She lashed out with her blades, Sesshoumaru anticipating the finishing blow; rolled and jumped to his feet. A surprised look overtook her features; she had seriously thought he wouldn't get up. This moment of lapse left her open and Sesshoumaru took advantage of it. He grabbed her wrists and swung them toward a near by boulder, breaking the blades. But this action wasn't done fast enough to predict a quick movement of her wrists. This allowed her not only to release his grip, but give her the chance to deliver a sweeping kick.

Gratefully he back flipped and landed on his feet only to look up and find her running at him. She slammed her fist that pulsed with electricity into his left cheek, forcing him to slide backwards but keep his feet planted to the ground. She was definitely becoming difficult to dispose of.

"Now you know why I am called me Kaminari Ken."

Sesshoumaru replied with his whip, which she easily dodged. She went at him again, ready to donate another punch. But the whip lashed out, taking a grip on her arm. The poison seeped through her gloves and into her wrists causing a scream to rip through her throat.

Thinking quickly, she let lightening rip from her body, through the whip, to Sesshoumaru. He grimaced in pain, but dare not release his hold; this was his opening to attack her. He rushed forward, with his claw out ready to destroy her. But she casually sidestepped and wrapped his own whip around his neck! She pulled tightly on her arm, bringing him to a knee.

"Aw, isn't this sad, I'm gonna have to put the old feller down." She cackled

I will not be brought down by such a feeble attempt! Sesshoumaru braced his knees and jumped into the lake, which the waterfall turned into. Both fighters landed in the water; electricity rummaged through their bodies till it suddenly stopped. Sesshoumaru swam to the top and jumped onto the water's edge. He looked back at the water; Kaminari Ken floated to the top face down.

She's dead!

Sesshoumaru used his whip to retrieve her. He would cut off her head display it on the castle wall for all to see and show as an example to those who intruded on his lands. When he finally had her towed out and splayed on the ground, he arched his hand to make a clean cut. Just as it came down, both her feet pushed up and connected fully with his jaw, sending him reeling back a good fifteen feet. She jumped to her feet and smiled.

"Did you really think it would be that easy?"

Sesshoumaru decided to play the wounded animal and wait till the predator moved in closer.

"Too hurt to stand and fight?" she said in a sad voice, " Too damn bad!"

She raised her hands to the sky and made a huge ball of electricity. " Fried dog on a stick comin' up!"

Just then Sesshoumaru leapt to his feet and tackled her to the ground. He then began to slam fist after fist into her face. Not being able to stop the assault with her hands she used her energy send a great shock through his body, halting his bombardment. She then used all the power in her legs to kick out and send him back in the water.

By now Sesshoumaru was fairly pissed, and was ready to do any and everything to get rid of this nuisance. He angrily emerged from the water, if his aura could reflect his anger, the lake would have boiled and evaporated. Kaminari stood at the bank waiting. Sesshoumaru could tell she would allow him to step back on dry land before resuming the scrimmage. Once he touched foot on land Kaminari covered her nose.

"Boy, you really are a wet dog!"

That only added fire to the furnace and went after her like his younger brother would have. He would not give her the honor of transforming into his pure form and killing her. Sadly, this action caused him to be repelled by her shield back into the water. He submerged once more even angrier than before.

"Want to try again, maybe something new?" She laughed

Sesshoumaru used his whip and caught on to her ankle and anchored himself out. This was done so quickly that she only had time to say ouch, to when the whip grabbed her; from the moment Sesshoumaru began to pummel her. She hit the ground with him on top of her, still attacking. At this point, her strength in her legs had left her and her energy was low. She attempted her shield. Sesshoumaru was instantly lifted twenty feet in the air, just enough room for her to go head to head with him. With out thinking, Sesshoumaru unsheathed Tenseiga and ran her through. Of course it would not kill her, but it stun her long enough for him to attack with a borage of kicks to the stomach as gravity pulled them back to the ground. He landed on his feet, she landed on her back. Sesshoumaru let out his whip and went to decapitate her, but her body unexpectedly became a bolt of lightening that retreated to the sky. Tenseiga fell to the ground and Sesshoumaru felt her aura quickly disappear.

She had escaped his final blow, damn! Sesshoumaru made his journey back to his palace. Seething in irritation and anger, he wouldn't let the woman live to tell the tale, he was more than sure about that.

Upon arriving home, his thoughts came to a conclusion. An assassin was sent after me; I must find her, retrieve the name of her employer, and kill them both. Then one name came to mind... Inuyasha. Although Sesshoumaru highly doubted his brother sent the woman after him, he must know something. Anyone foolish enough to oppose the Great Lord of the Western Lands must be making a name for himself or herself no matter how hard they try to hide it. An assassination of this magnitude must be the knowledge of someone who had too much too say.
