*Chapter 2*
The castle was so......busy getting ready for the dinner.
Sesshomaru was in his chambers going over the words he was going to tell Kagome. 'I hope she accepts,' he thought to himself.
Kouga was walking back and forth in his chambers hoping his tousan wasn't going to crush his head for keeping him and Kika a secret. 'Man, I hope he understands,' he thought.
Kagome and Kika were giggling up a storm in Kagome's chambers, trying on kimonos for the dinner. After about an hour, they both decided on one.
Kagome was wearing a yellow and blue kimono. It went a little past her knees, but had two splits on both side up to her thighs. She had her hair half pulled up with some hanging down her face. Kika was wearing a blue and white kimono. It went just like Kagome's, but it went more passed her knees. Kika's hair was left down, but curly.
Sesshomaru and Kouga wore about the same kimono, but Kouga was black where as Sesshomaru was red. They both wore armor.
Finally, dinner was ready. Everyone went to the dining area to await the arrival of the Lords. After the Lords entered, everyone was seated for the dinner.
"Welcome to the Northern Lands." Lord Intuis announced. Lord Kiushi, Lord Yashui, and Lord Nemsis raised their glasses. Everyone began to eat. Sesshomaru could hardly eat because of all the butterflies in his stomach. Lord Intuis looked over at his son.
"Is everything alright, Sesshomaru?" he asked.
Sesshomaru looked at his tousan and whispered "Yes, I just am a bit nervous, I am going to ask Lady Kagome to go out with me after dinner and I am scared she will say no."
Lord Intuis let out a slight giggle and said "Don't worry everything will be fine, I am sure she will accept, I have seen the way she looks at you."
Sesshomaru shook his head and tried to eat. Kagome and Kika were talking about how their tousans ate.
"How can they eat like that?" Kika asked giggling.
"I am not sure, but I wouldn't want to try it." Kagome said covering her mouth.
Kouga couldn't keep his eyes off of Kika. He always kept glancing at his tousan to see if he noticed. After a few hours the dinner was over and it was time to go to the ballroom. Everyone went to the ballroom except Sesshomaru. He was standing in the hall trying to catch his breath before he approached Kagome. After he did he went to the ballroom to look for Kagome. He finally spotted her dancing with Kika. 'She looks so gorgeous when she dances,' he thought to himself. 'Pull yourself together Sesshomaru! Go ask her!' his mind screamed. He approached Kagome and tapped her on her shoulder. Kagome felt something or someone touch her so she stopped dancing.
"Yeah, Sessy what do you want?" she asked in a mean tone.
"Can I speak with you in private for a moment, Kagome?" he asked
"Ok, it better be important this is my favorite song." she said
"It won't take long, I promise." Sesshomaru said, leading Kagome into the hall.
When Sesshomaru got to a good spot where no one could interfere, he began to speak.
"Kagome, I know you are not ready for a mate yet and I respect that. I love you very much and would do anything for you. I was wondering if you would be my girlfriend? If you say no that is ok I will understand, but I would like to know why, ok?" he asked with loving eyes.
Kagome couldn't believe what she just heard. 'Is he for real?' she thought. Finally she began to answer him.
"Sessy, I am glad that you respect me for waiting on a mate, thank you. But....." 'Tell him how you feel!' her mind screamed.
"But what Kags?" he said tears running down his cheeks.
'What should I do? How do I tell him how I feel?' she thought.
"KAGOME!!!!" Sesshomaru yelled.
"Sorry, Sessy. I would...." 'Come on almost there' her mind told her.
"Kagome, if you don't want to that is fine, but don't tease and just tell me." Sesshomaru said crying.
Kagome finally got up enough courage and stepped towards Sesshomaru and kissed him on the lips.
"Does that answer you question, Sessy?" she asked, slowly pulling away from him.
Sesshomaru's heart stopped as soon as Kagome's lips touched his. 'Was she really kissing me or was I dreaming' he thought.
His eyes grew big and he grab Kagome by the waist and pulled her towards him and gave her a big hug.
"Yes, it does, Kags." he said with a smile.
Lord Intuis saw the whole thing through the ballroom door. Surprised at how much his son really cared for this girl to wait and mate her when she is ready. Most youkai take mates no questions asked. He could see that his son Lord Sesshomaru would be a great lord when he passes.
Kouga finally got Kika away from her tousan to talk to her about the announcement. Kika smiled and told him.
"After Lord Intuis gives Sesshomaru the Lordship we will announce it than, that will be a good time, ok?"
Kouga looked at his soon-to-be-mate and said "Ok, I will wait, but no later than that."
Kika smiled and gave him a quick hug and kiss before returning to the ballroom.
