The sound of clashing swords rings through the air. Two men battle in the forest, thrust parry, thrust. Sweat rolled down his back, his hair falling into his eyes. He sees an opening and attacks. The taller man moves almost imperceptibly. The youth falls, his long black hair falling in his face. “Damn it. Damn you, Uncle.” The man says trying futilely to school his features. `Worthless human mother' he thought, `how could he fall for a human?' The youth looks up into the face of his trainer. Hours of practice and not a sign of it showed on him. No sweat, not even a single strand was out of place in his silver mane. The trainer reached out a clawed hand. “Get up.” “No point. I am hanyo, I will always fall.” The youth spat, “worthless, human m.” Before the last word could fully slip from his lips he was brought abruptly to his feet. Slammed against a tree and dangled several feet from the ground, thinking became difficult. “What…the…hell.” The boy choked out between gasps.
At a camp not too far off two humans adults were making preparations for dinner. “Sis should be here soon. She wants to be here when….” “I know. You shouldn't worry so.” The woman said in a singsong voice getting awkwardly to her feet. “When Jaken comes back make sure he brought enough food. I am going to go see if the two `great demons' are ready to eat.” One hand draped delicately across her now enormous belly, what was left of the sunlight glistening in her long black hair, Kohaku can't help but stare as his wife gracefully strolls of in the direction Akemi said they would be.
“You will not say such things in my presence.” Came the unemotional response of the trainer as he dropped the youth unceremoniously to the ground. The trainer turned his back to the youth. “She was human. Humans are filthy and worthless. You have said so yourself.” Broad shoulders straightened. “ Yes, she was.” Memories of years before came crashing back to him. Hitting him hard in the gut. “Sesshoumaru-sama.” His name brought him back to the present. “Sesshoumaru-sama; Sango and Miroku will be here soon. Come join us for dinner.” It seemed only yesterday this beautiful woman was a young child bickering incessantly with the little imp that followed him everywhere. “Hai, Rin.” Sesshoumaru said gathering his haori, and heading in the direction of cooking flesh. “Rin-san” Akemi caught her arm. “Why does uncle get so angry at the mention of my human mother?” Rin's usually happy expression dropped in an instant. “He still has not told you?” “Told me what?” “He loved her.” Sadness tinged her voice. “What? No way. He hates humans besides dad was her one and only.” Confused and dumbfounded Akemi stumbled over his thoughts. He looked up to the great daiyokai. How could he love a human especially his own brother's wife? Surely Rin was joking. “Ha ha ha ha, Rin that was great.” Akemi laughed, “You almost had me.” Rin turned and walked away angry that Sesshoumaru never told him. Tears streamed down her face, not for herself and how she misses Kagome-san, bur for Sesshoumaru-sama's inability to claim his own son.
A/N: This is my first fan fiction. The idea hit me a couple days ago so I wrote it. I have a few chapters done already, but am unsure if I should continue to post. If at least one person likes what I have so far I will continue the story.
