don't own Inuyasha.

Kagome moaned lightly in her sleep, stretching slightly on her futon before opening her eyes. Darkness

She sat up straight, and rubbed her eyes in a panic. Nothing, not even shadows. She was blind. "Inuyasha?" she tried to stay calm "Sango?" she heard no response "Miroku? Anybod-" Miroku laid a gentle hand on her shoulder.

"It's alright, Kagome-sama."

"B-but I can't see!" he sighed.

"It is a small price to pay for your life." she wrapped her arms around him, sobbing into his robes. She gasped and pulled back

"Miroku," she looked worried "where's Inuyasha?"

************

Inuyasha ran, again with all the strength he could muster. He was tiring again.

"Cuso," he muttered to himself "I'm not making very good time." He stopped and stared up at the giant mountains in front of him, side by side, like sisters. 'The Middle Road' he thought this has to be it. he stared ahead at the well worn path in front of him. It snaked its way in between the sister peaks, it was a dry riverbed. This serpentile path was used for travel between villages. He continued his journey, checking occasionally the safety of the jewel, tucked snugly against his chest.

************

Inuyasha stopped under a large overhang in the coarse rock, contemplating. Light rarely filtered through, making his way all the more perilous. Maybe he thought the road goes into the earth, into a cave. His canine eyes guided him through the ebony blackness that now covered everything. Large protrusions of rock slowed him down even more, as he had to maneuver around them. The cave got smaller in size, making him thankful he was not claustrophobic. Soon he had to crawl on his hands and knees. If Miroku were here, he chuckled slightly he'd probably make some joke about me being a dog.

"Then," he thought out loud, "Sango would beat him senseless for grabbin' her butt." he smiled "And Shippou would be goin' on and on about something to Kagome-" his smile faded "Kagome..."

*************

"I'm going after him!" Kagome grabbed her bag next to her after feeling around for it, and wobbily stood.

"But Kagome-chan, we don't know where he is," it wasn't a complete lie, they had a good idea about where he was going, but that wouldn't help Sango's case very much.

"I don't care! I have to find him, I have to tell him something."

"But Kagome," she was desperate "what about your...condition?" Kagome stubborly answered

"I'll feel my way there if I have to."

"Houshi-sama, a little help here?"

"I think we should try and find Inuyasha. There are some important matters I wish to discuss with him."

Sango sighed "Do we know where he is?" Miroku opened his eyes and looked at Sango before answering Kagome

"West."

"West?" she thought a moment "how far west?"

He sighed himself "Kofu."
