Chapter 2

Anger

 

Inuyasha slowly walked to camp. He felt so bad he had hurt Kikyo, betrayed her again. He never thought she would be mad about his feelings for Kagome though. He wasn't surprised at her reaction. He would have liked her to hit him instead of saying what she said.

 

No, he would never hurt Kagome intentionally.

 

When he heard her laughing though, he stiffened. She was laughing with another man. He could smell him. He hid behind a tree and watched them They were sitting by the lake, laughing.

 

The man was holding her hand and staring into her eyes. Why was she letting him hold her hand? Why was she laughing with him? Anger shot through him. He had just denied Kikyo for this girl and she was flirting with some guy??

 

“Oi Kagome!” he growled, walking over to them.

“Inuyasha!” she smiled, “hi! This is Yuu.”

“What are you two doing holding hands?”

“Huh…?” Kagome blushed.

“Oh, sorry Kags…” Yuu said, “Hi Inuyasha, it's nice to meet you…”

 

But Inuyasha wasn't listening.

 

His heart was shattering.

 

Kagome was blushing.

 

For him.

 

He hated what he saw in her eyes.

 

He saw LOVE.

 

“I better leave…” he whispered reluctantly.

 

Kagome stared at him. She smiled and got back to her conversation with Yuu.

Inuyasha ran as fast as he could. He hated himself, this stupid wishful thinking! He ran through the forest, cursing. He had been so stupid! To think Kagome would love him back. She had already found someone else.

 

He deserved it, didn't he? He gave her a really hard time, ne? He was an ass, he knew. But he was an ass who loved her more than anything. He was going to tell her…it was too late now. She was tired of waiting wasn't she?

 

He sat on a tree, “I'm sorry Kagome,” he whispered in the night, “I'm so sorry…”

 

A while later, he walked reluctantly back to camp. He found Miroku kissing Sango and they didn't even notice him when he climbed on a tree close to them.

 

`At lest it's working out for them…' he thought bitterly, `where's Kagome? Still with that guy?' he bit his lip as anger and pain tore him apart.

“You were really helpful Yuu…” Kagome said as he walked her to camp. Everyone was sleeping. Kagome spotted Inuyasha on his branch and she wondered if he was sleeping too.

 

“I had a really nice time Kagome…” Yuu whispered in her ear as he pulled her into his arms. She blushed hotly and felt her heart racing in her chest.

 

Kagome thought she would die when his lips met hers. Her first kiss. It was just as she imagined it - except…

 

“HEY!” Inuyasha yelled, pulling Kagome away from Yuu.

 

“What's wrong with you?!” Yuu yelled back.

“Inuyasha!” Kagome yelled too, joining the fight…on the wrong side.

 

Miroku awoke to all the yelling. He understood what was happening, having seen Kagome with Yuu earlier.

 

The monk ran to them as Sango sighed and got up. Inuyasha and Yuu were already prepared to fight for their woman.

 

Miroku had to hold Inuyasha back while Kagome pushed Yuu away from him, again on the wrong side.

 

“Why the hell are you on his side Kagome?” Inuyasha cried, all of his pain reflected in his voice. Kagome was hurt just seeing the emotions on his face. This guy just didn't know what he wanted.

 

Inuyasha thought he would die when she looked at him. She was disgusted. Didn't she care for him anymore? He knew for a fact that she used to.

 

“Why are there sides anyway?” she yelled at him.

 

Yuu was still trying to jump on the hanyo and rip him apart, but he knew better. He was just human and Inuyasha's claws would tear him apart faster.

 

“Why are there sides Kagome?” Inuyasha roared, “because you were just kissing this guy, that's why!”

 

Miroku was still gripping him from behing, whispering `let it go' in his ear, “NO MONK! I won't let it go!”

 

Kagome burst into tears, which made both men focus on her.

 

“Kagome, I'm sorry… I shouldn't have yelled at you…” Inuyasha said softly, finally free from Miroku's grasp.

 

“Kags, don't cry… please? For me?” Yuu whispered to her, irritating Inuyasha very much.

 

“Don't you talk to her like that you - ”

“SHUT UP!” Sango screamed from behind him. She walked over to them furiously and grabbed Kagome's none too gently to get her away from the guys. They didn't do anything to stop her and Kagome was too busy sniffling to do anything about it.

 

The demon slayer took her friend to the lake close by. When she finally stopped crying, Sango looked her in the eye.

 

“What's going on?”

“I don't know…”

“I thought you loved Inuyasha.”

“I do!” she said quickly.

“So?”

“Yuu, it's just that…he's so much like…”

“Like?”
