Chapter 3:
Movie Talk & the Perfect Dress
Kagome was laying on her bed, with her notebook on her pillow and a pencil in hand. She stared at the page in front of her and sighed. She had her first verse and chorus done, and was working on the next verse. Kagome gnawed on her eraser.
“Picture us dancin' real close in a dark, dark corner of a basement party.” Kagome said as she wrote.
“Kagome!” Ms. Higurashi called.
“In my room!” Kagome replied.
“Ms. Higurashi came up the stairs and stood in the doorway.
“How was your first day?” Ms. Higurashi asked.
“It was nice,” Kagome replied as she continued to write.
“Oh, Naraku's taking you to school tomorrow,” she said.
“What? Why?” Kagome questioned.
“To make sure the school is `movie worthy',” Ms. Higurashi said, using air quotes.
“Yeah, okay,” Kagome said, shaking her head.
“Writing a new song?” Ms. Higurashi asked.
“Yep,” Kagome smiled. “It came to me during school.”
“Well, dinner will be ready in a few, alright?” Ms. Higurashi said.
“Okay, Mom,” Kagome replied.
Ms. Higurashi headed down the stairs. Kagome stared at the page before her and sighed. She closed her notebook, put her things away, and laid back on her pillow. She stared at the ceiling.
“How can a boy I barely know bring a song out of me?” Kagome questioned.
“Kagome, dinner!” Ms. Higurashi called.
“Comin'!” Kagome called back as she got off her bed.

“Ugh!” Inuyasha groaned. “How can one girl make me write a song?”
Inuyasha stared at the notebook page in front of him. The song title was `U Remind Me'. He laid his head on his desk and sighed. He didn't even really know her. Inuyasha growled. At least he had a finished song. Maybe now the guys wouldn't bail on the band. Inuyasha lifted his head and sniffed briefly. He stood and headed down stairs to see if dinner was ready. By the smell he knew his mother, Izayoi was cooking ramen, his favorite.

`Fukai Fukai mori no oku ni ima mo kitta. Okizari ni shita kokoro kakushiteruyo,' Kagome's phone rang.
Kagome sat up and grabbed her phone. She pushed her hair out of her face and put the phone to her ear. She cleared her throat.
“Hello?” she answered.
“You've got fifteen minutes to get down here,” a male voice said.
“Naraku, school doesn't start for another thirty minutes,” she said.
“I know,” Naraku said. “We've got some things to discuss. Now chop chop.”
Kagome groaned and hung up the phone. She got out of bed, went to her closet, and pulled out an outfit. She headed to her bathroom to get ready. After completing her hygienic duties, she got dressed and applied her make-up and pulled her hair into a high ponytail. She grabbed her bag and phone, and headed down the stairs. Before her feet touched the last step, she looked up at Naraku. He was a tall man with long ebony black hair and squinted red eyes. He smirked and pocketed his cell phone.
“Now don't you look nice,” he said.
“I do, don't I,” Kagome smiled.
She had on a tight fitted black shirt that said, `WHEN I SNAP MY FINGERS YOU'LL BE THE FIRST ONE GONE', in bold light blue letters, light blue skinny jeans, and light blue chucks. She grabbed a cereal bar.
“Later, Mom,” Kagome said.
“Bye, honey,” Ms. Higurashi said.
Kagome followed Naraku out the door and down the shrine steps. She climbed into the limo and looked up to see Kagura. Kagome put her bag on the floor and Kagura looked up from her clipboard.
“Kagome,” Kagura nodded.
“Kagura,” Kagome grinned. “So, what is it we need to talk about?”
“Well, we've got the script for the movie,” Kagura said, handing Kagome the script. “We need you to find the best kids to be in the movie with you.”
“I get to choose my co-stars?” Kagome questioned.
“As long as they match up with the characters,” Kagura said, as they pulled up to the school.
“This is so cool!” Kagome shrieked, opening the door.
“They still have to audition,” Kagura called after Kagome, “and go over that script!”
Kagome smiled and ran into the building. She ran down the hall to meet Sango and the others. She turned the corner and collided into a hard body, dropping the script as she fell on her butt. She picked up the script.
“Watch it!” the person said.
“Oh, I'm so-” she stopped when she saw Inuyasha. “Oh, it's just you.”
Inuyasha growled as Kagome stood. She was dusting herself off when Sango and the others turned the corner. Sango looked at her.
“You okay?” she asked.
“Yeah,” Kagome replied, “I just ran into the Neanderthal here.”
“Hey!” Inuyasha growled. Kagome rolled her eyes.
“Anyway,” Kagome said. “You guys wanna be in a movie?”
“You mean the horror movie you're starring in?” Sango asked. “Death by Dawn, right?”
“That's the one,” Kagome nodded.
“I'm in,” Sango said.
“Me too!” Ayame smiled.
“Us too!” Rin smiled, holding Kanna's hand in the air.
“Awesome,” Kagome grinned. “Boys?”
“I'll consider it,” Sesshomaru said, then walked away.
“Sure,” Miroku shrugged.
“I'm down,” Koga smiled.
“Great,” Kagome said. “Inuyasha? Are you gonna be in the movie?”
“What for?” Inuyasha questioned.
“Well, I need an arrogant bastard,” Kagome said.
“Listen, wench,” Inuyasha growled. “I'm no bastard!”
“So, you're sayin' you're arrogant?” Kagome smirked.
“I-you-ugh!” Inuyasha groaned crossing his arms. “You're such a pain.”
“Anyway, we'll go over the characters at lunch,” Kagome said.
Everyone nodded and Inuyasha grumbled his reply. The bell rang and they headed to their class.
******************************************************* ******
“Inuyasha, you're not supposed to mix those,” Kagome said.
“I know what I'm doin,” Inuyasha said.
“But-” Kagome began.
“Shut it, wench!” Inuyasha cut her off.
“Fine,” Kagome said, crossing her arms.
The two were in chemistry class doing a lab. They were supposed to make one compound freeze and another heat up. One was already, thanks to Kagome. Now Inuyasha was trying to make the other heat up. He poured a clear substance into a green one. The color changed from green to blue and it started to bubble. Kagome stared at the beaker as the bubbles started to grow bigger. The bubbles continued to grow until they formed one huge bubble.
“What the hell?!” Inuyasha questioned leaning back.
“Aaah!” Kagome shrieked.
Kagome ducked down and the bubble exploded in Inuyasha's face. Everyone gasped. Kagome stood up and stared at Inuyasha. He growled and shook the blue liquid off his hands. Sango and Rin put a hand over their mouths, Miroku and Koga laughed, Kanna and Ayame stared at him with their mouths wide, and Sesshomaru shook his head. Kagome giggled, with a hand covering her mouth.
“I told you,” she smiled.
“You think this is funny, wench?!” Inuyasha demanded.
“A lil' bit,” Kagome nodded, still giggling.
“Oh for pete's sake, Inuyasha,” Ms. Kitana said. “What did you do?”
“I don't know!” Inuyasha said. Ms. Kitana sighed and shook her head.
“Kagome, would you mind taking Inuyasha to the nurse and help him get cleaned up?” Ms. Kitana asked.
“No problem,” Kagome grinned. “Let's go, dog-boy.”
Inuyasha growled as he followed Kagome out the classroom. Inuyasha crossed his arms. Kagome smirked. She opened the door to the nurse's office and the two walked in. An elderly woman with long gray hair in a bun and a patch over one eye looked up at them.
“Aye, Inuyasha,” she said. “I see ye did it again.”
“Shut up, Kaede-baba,” Inuyasha said.
“Ah, Miss Kagome, come to help Inuyasha, have ye?” Kaede asked, handing Kagome the shampoo.
“Yeah,” Kagome replied as Kaede handed Inuyasha a rag.
Inuyasha went to the back sink to wet his rag and proceeded to clean his face. Kagome glanced at him and shook her head.
“Hey, Kaede-sama,” Kagome said, “how many times has this happened?”
“This would be the third,” Kaede replied, handing Kagome a towel.
“The third?” Kagome repeated. Kaede nodded. “Oh, wow.”
“If you're done flappin; your gums,” Inuyasha began, “I'd like to get this crap outta my hair.”
“Look, I'm just tryna—” Kagome stopped short when she turned around.
Oh, my God. she thought as she stared at him. Inuyasha stood before her with no shirt on. Her eyes roamed over his form. His skin was a nice tan color and he was sporting a six pack. Kagome snapped out of it when she noticed the smirk on Inuyasha's face. She rolled her eyes as she followed him to the back to assist him in washing his hair. Kaede shook her head as the water started running. Those two are meant for each other. she thought. The water stopped and Kaede froze.
“Maybe I should have told Kagome about Inuyasha's dog-like tendencies,” Kaede whispered a finger on her chin thoughtfully.
“Ahhh!” Kagome shrieked. “You got me wet, you animal!”
“Too late,” Kaede smiled.
******************************************************* ******
“So, you saw Yash without a shirt on, huh?” Sango questioned as they made their way to their Advanced Math class. Kagome nodded. “What'd you think?”
“He's hot!” Kagome said, as they walked inside the classroom.
“So, you like him?” Sango asked.
“No,” Kagome stated, “he's a jerk!”
Sango laughed as they went their separate routes to their seats. Kagome sat down beside Kanna. She looked back at Sango and Ayame. Ayame glanced over at Inuyasha, who now had on a red wife beater. She looked back at Kagome and smiled. Kagome blushed and turned around. Kanna looked up at her.
“Heard you saw Yash with no shirt on,” she said.
“Damn, who doesn't know?” Kagome questioned.
“Everyone outside our group,” Kanna replied. Kagome groaned.
“It's okay,” Kanna smiled. “How `bout we talk about something else?”
“Sounds good to me,” Kagome replied.
“So, about this movie,” Kanna began. And just like that a new conversation formed.
******************************************************* ******
“Let me get this straight,” Miroku said as they walked to lunch. “You can choose your co-stars, but they still gotta audition?”
“Yeah,” Kagome nodded as they took a seat at a table.
“That's just retarded,” Ayame said.
“I know,” Kagome agreed, “but first we gotta find your perfect character match.”
Kagome pulled out the script and sat it on the table. She opened it to the character description page. She pulled out a pen and wrote her name beside one of the characters.
“I'll be playin' Kazumi,” Kagome said. “Just read over the characters and pick the one that best suits you.”
Each teen looked over Kagome's shoulder to read over and choose a character. Sesshomaru stood and left after saying `just pick one for me'. Inuyasha leaned back in his chair while he watched Kagome write everyone's name down. She placed her pen on the table and looked over the page.
“Now, let's see,” she said. “For the girls, I've got Sango as Satomi, Ayame as Akemi, Rin as Rei, and Kanna as Kiyoko. For the boys, I've got Miroku as Mushu, Koga as Kizu, Sesshomaru as Susumu, and Inuyasha as Isamu.”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa,” Inuyasha said, placing the legs of his chair on the floor. “I ain't choose nothing.”
“I already told you that I need an arrogant bastard,” Kagome replied. Inuyasha growled. “Now I'll have your scripts in two weeks, okay?”
Everyone nodded and Kagome put her script away. Ayame looked at her.
“Did you get your dress for the dance yet?” she questioned.
“No,” Kagome shook her head.
“We're goin' shoppin' this Friday, girly,” Rin smiled.
“Okay, I guess,” Kagome replied, looking down at her watch. “I gotta go!”
“Where you goin'?” Kanna asked when Kagome stood from the table.
“Recordin' studio,” Kagome said. “New song. See ya!”
They watched Kagome until they were sure she was gone. The girls turned to the boys.
“What happened to your band?” Ayame asked.
“We were waiting for Yash to write a song,” Koga replied.
“And I wrote two,” Inuyasha said, crossing his arms.
“Such the over-achiever,” Miroku smirked. Inuyasha rolled his eyes.
“Can we hear them?” Sango asked.
“No,“ Inuyasha said. “Come to Club Jewel and you can hear one of them.”
“Okay,” Sango shrugged.
******************************************************* ******
Kagome got out the limo and walked up the stairs to her house after a long day at the recording studio. She opened the door and walked in past the kitchen. Ms. Higurashi smiled softly as she cut vegetables.
“How you feeling, honey?” she asked.
“Overworked,” Kagome said, heading up the stairs..
Kagome walked up to her room and opened her door. She tossed her bag on the floor and flopped onto her bed. She turned on her back and stared up at the ceiling. Who knew school and work be so tiring? Kagome yawned. It was worth it when you could do the one thing you loved. Her thoughts began to wander to Inuyasha.
“What did Kikyo do to make him so guarded?” she asked herself. “Not that I care.”
She muttered the last part under her breath. But she did care and to get her mind off of it, she turned on her stereo and Michael Jackson's Billie Jean, one of her many favorites, filled her room.

The rest of the week flew by and it was finally Friday. As soon as the last bell rang, the girls were inside Sango's car and on their way to the mall. After parking the car, they walked up to the entrance Sango smiled as they entered the mall.
“I know the perfect store to shop in,” she said.
“And that would be?” Kagome asked.
“Cinderella's Gowns!” Ayame and Rin cheered.
Sango, Ayame, and Rin rushed into the store. Kagome stood outside the store, staring at all the dresses inside. Kanna gave a small smile and shook her head. She grabbed Kagome's arm and pulled her inside. Kagome watched as the girls flipped through racks of dresses and rush to try them on.
“Hey, Kagome,” Ayame called. “What do ya' think?”
Kagome looked beside her to see Ayame in a pale blue dress that stopped a few inches above the knee. It had straps that crossed in the back. Kagome smiled.
“Oh, Ayame,” she said.
“What?” Ayame panicked. “Is it bad?”
“No,” Kagome said. “You look really pretty in it.”
“Really?” Ayame questioned.
Kagome nodded. Ayame ran back over to the others. “I'm so gettin' this one!” she said. Kagome followed behind Ayame to the dressing rooms. She saw the girls standing outside waiting. She looked around for Kanna. She must be inside. she thought. The door opened and Kanna stepped out.
“Aww!” the girls said.
Kanna had on a strapless white dress with black polka dots that stopped above the knee and around the waist was a black band. Kanna gave a small smile.
“So cute!” Ayame said, walking out of her dressing room with her dress on her arm.
Sango walked into Ayame's dressing room and Rin entered another empty one. Kanna went back inside to change. She came out just as Rin and Sango opened their doors. Rin's dress was a thin spaghetti strapped pinkish-orange shade. It went down to her knees, but as it went down it began to ruffle. Rin smiled. Sango's dress was a thin strapped sheer purple shade. It stopped above her knees.
“I love them!” Kagome smiled.
“Me too!” Rin and Sango said.
The girls went back inside to change. As soon as they came out, they grabbed Kagome's arms and pulled her to the rack of dresses.
“Now for you,” Sango smiled, flipping through the dresses.
The others followed giggling amongst themselves. Sango picked up a dress and looked at it. She shook her head and put it back. She tapped her chin and smiled. She picked up another dress and handed it to Kagome.
“This is so you,” Sango said. “Go. Try on. Now!”
Kagome grinned and walked into the dressing room. She looked the dress over and shrugged. She opened the door and stepped out. The girls looked at her and smiles spread across their faces.
“Well?” Kagome asked.
“You look hot,” Sango said.
“Really?” Kagome questioned.
“Yeah,” Ayame grinned. “Smokin'!”
The dress was a thin green spaghetti strap that stopped mid-thigh. Kagome turned and looked into one of the mirrors. She smiled. She was hot. She went back inside to change. She was so getting this dress. Kagome walked and headed over to the register with the others.
“Hey, Kags,” Sango called, “you got any plans tomorrow night?”
“No,” Kagome replied.
“Wanna go to a club with us?” Rin asked.
“Sure,” Kagome shrugged.
“Awesome-ness,” Ayame grinned.
“Cool beans,” Kanna smiled.
