[ P - Pre-Teen ]

The group had been traveling for days. Kagura would always scout ahead.
It was the least dangerous for her, since she could just fly on her
feather. Every now and then they'd stop to make camp and eat Ramen.
Whenever they were near a hot springs the girls would go take a bath. It was
becoming routine for them. They had just stopped to make camp for the
day when Kagome asked Kagura a question that had been on her mind since
they had returned from school.
" Kagura?"
" Yes?"
" You remeber that you said that you could get the Shikon shard from
Kohaku without killing him? How would you do that?"
Kagura sighed. " I have this one power. I can't only manipulate corpses
but I can revive them. It has to be actual bodies though, not mudpiles.
I never told Naraku because I thought he'd make me use it. It drains
all my energy for about a week, and it doesn't always work. You might be
able to get Sesshomaru to do it, if Kohaku hadn't almost killed Rin
when he was under Naraku's control. It was an act of defiance. He never
was able to get me to tell him."
" Oh." Kagome said. " So we'd have to take out the Shikon shard and
then revive Kohaku?"
" Yes."
" I'll talk to Sango about it at the hot springs."

At the hot springs that night, the girls were enjoying their first bath
in days.
" Sango?"
" Yes Kagome?"
" Kagura might have a way to keep Kohaku alive without the Shikon
shard."
" Really? That's wonderful!"
" But......" Kagome's voice trailed off.
" But what?"
" It might not work."
" What? Is that true Kagura?"
" It is." Kagura said quietly. She had been quiet since telling Kagome
about the spell.
" I- I have to talk it over with Kohaku. I want to know if he is
willing to risk his life....."
" We understand Sango." Kagome said.

As soon as they got back from the hot springs, they noticed a certain
monk who was sporting 3 large bumps on his head.
"Kohaku?" Sango asked. "Can I talk to you for a minute?"
" Sure." Kohaku said, wondering what Sango would like to talk about.
They walked a little way away from the group.
" Kohaku........ Kagura might be able to keep you alive without the
shard."
" Really? That's great! How?"
" There is one problem. It might not work, and she can only do it on a
corpse. We'd have to take out the Shikon shard and then perform the
spell. You could die. I promised them I'd talk it over with you before
telling them yes or no." Sango explained. She had been told what the spell
would entail in the baths.
" I- I'd like to do it. It is a big chance, and I think it is worth the
risk." Kohaku smiled. " I want to live again."
" I want you to live too." Sango smiled at her little brother,
conviction in her eyes. They would perform the spell the next night.

" Sango!" Kagome cried happily when Sango and Kohaku appeared again.
" We'll try it." Kohaku said.
" Excellent." Kagura said. " tomorrow night then?" Everyone nodded. The
men had been told about the spell when Sango pulled Kohaku aside.
" Let's all get a good nights sleep, then." Miroku suggested. Kirara
mewed her agreement, and everyone murmurred an agreement.
" Good night everyone. Sleep well."
