Chapter 6

“You’re what!?” Miroku exclaimed happily as he looked up from the bucket of water. “In… Love… With her.” Inuyasha repeated through gritted teeth. He dried his face and turned to Inuyasha, “I knew that promise would never last; especially not with Kagome around!” He clapped happily and Inuyasha stared at him annoyingly. He grabbed his advisers dark blue robe and pulled him down to sit on the bed.

“Shut up you moronic lecher!” Inuyasha sighed and looked down, trying to hide his fast reddening cheeks. Miroku rambled on and on about pointless things but one thing he said caught Inuyasha’s attention.

“How are you going to tell her, and when!?” Inuyasha froze in his spot.

“What?” He murmured through unmoving lips.

Miroku stopped his rambling and looked at Inuyasha incredulously, “You don’t know how you’re going to tell her!?”

“I didn’t know there was a special time and place that I had to tell her!” Inuyasha snapped, and stood up abruptly mirroring his friends expression. Miroku stood up as well, “Well you can’t just tell her!” Woops, Miroku had a pretty good point there.

Miroku face palmed and sighed, plopping down on the bed again, “Really Inuyasha? See?! This is what happens when you avoid love for so long!” Inuyasha grunted and sat back down again. He rubbed his forehead and spoke with a muffled voice, “Then how do I tell her?”

And with that, Miroku introduced Inuyasha to his romantic and overly sappy plan.

“I woke up, again, in his arms Sango!” Kagome exclaimed as she threw her arms into the air. She was telling Sango about what had happened last night, “But this morning, when he pulled away he seemed sheepish. He didn’t do his usual I-hate-you-so-much-for-being-here kind of attitude.”

Sango was just as puzzled as Kagome, “Do you think maybe he might-” Kagome stopped her by putting her hand over her mouth before she could finish, “Do not get my hopes up.”

Sango moved Kagome’s hand from her mouth, “Okay, we’ll see.” Sango grinned at her evilly. Her and Miroku knew very well this day would come, and just in case Inuyasha didn’t have the brains to know how to do this, which was a very good chance they had come up with a plan for him.

Kagome eyed Sango suspiciously but just shrugged it off.

Inuyasha felt like he was in a play, a magical very sappy play. The plan was overly ridiculous and gooey. Something only Miroku could make up with the help of only one other person who was left unsaid. The plan was like a total fairytale scene, he’d take her to the rose garden, swoon her a little, then tell her his feelings and hope for the best.

He watched as Kagome walked around aimlessly, stopping by flower gardens and smelling the air smiling to herself. She seemed to like the outdoors a lot…

Inuyasha was supposed to jump in by the time that she got to the rose garden, which was now. But then, a thought occurred to him. What if he just winged it? Did his own thing? It would probably be less embarrassing…

Kagome walked on down the path, continuing to the low bridge that went over the small rumbling deep creek. She sat down slowly and let her legs hang over the edge. She stared down at the creek with a very thoughtful expression. He was debating over when he should walk in.

He didn’t know how to do these things…

“What is he DOING?” Sango hissed as her and Miroku watched Inuyasha from a distance. Miroku sighed and placed his hand on Sango’s shoulder, “Don’t worry, I’m sure he knows what he’s doing. Hopefully…”

Sango growled under her breath and slammed her fists on her lap, “He’s supposed to be going by the plan, this is not the plan!”

Miroku chuckled and leaned into her, running his lips over her neck, “Let them do this themselves,” He murmured with a smirk.

And with that, her worries magically disappeared.

Building up his courage, he sucked in a big breath, puffed out his chest and stepped out from behind the tree. He watched her and then carefully started walking down the gravel path to her. He kept his steps light so she wouldn’t hear him coming.

She had better hearing then he thought she did because she turned her head in his direction when he was only a few feet away.

Inuyasha gulped and looked down, “H-Hey.” He mentally slapped himself. Smooth.

“Hey.” Kagome turned her head again to look at the creek. He couldn’t see her full expression, but she didn’t look too relaxed at the moment with him there. He walked over and sat down on the other edge of the bridge letting his legs hang over. He leaned back and rested on his elbows looking up at her.

She looked down at him from the corner of her eye, “What? Are you going to tell me I can’t be out here?” She asked him, almost accusingly. He flinched, of course she was going to act a little hostile. She still believe he hated her.

“Kagome,” She froze in her spot. He’d never called her by her first name before. “I know I’ve been very unpleasant toward you since you came. Actually, since we were little.” He had no idea how he was coming up with all this, “I was afraid to answer. I was afraid to think about someone in a different way that included love. So I never wanted it,” Kagome just stared at him surprised. She didn’t know what to say. Was he apologizing?

“I don’t want us to be this way, especially if we have to be together for the rest of our lives. I know I’m going to fall in love with you sooner or later, no matter what I’m afraid of… And oh my god this sounds so corny already…” That broke through Kagome’s trance and she laughed lightly.

“It’s okay! I guess I understand the reasons why you were so rude, so I can sort of forgive you.” Kagome smiled brightly at him still laughing to herself.

Was she actually forgiving him? After all he’d done to her, that small apology was all she needed to forgive him?! Only a girl with such a pure heart could do that… He watched her laugh to herself and smile looking up at the sky. No sign of that frustrated look on her face anymore. She just looked at the creek, no more worries.

And then he did something that surprised them both.

Pushing himself up, Inuyasha leaned over her and placed his hand on the other side of her. Without looking at her he leaned in very slowly and brushed his lips over hers. He heard her gasp sharply and closed his eyes tight. Building up the rest of his courage he pushed himself forward and kissed her.

Kagome didn’t move at first and that scared him a little. What if she didn’t feel the same? But all his worries of that were cast away when she finally responded.

Kagome’s heart was fluttering, she couldn’t believe the Prince-- the man who was always so rude to her -- had just apologized and was now kissing her. She felt him lean in a little and she raised her hand to cup his cheek. He pulled back and they leaned their foreheads against each other.

This was where he had to get corny, but at the moment he didn’t mind it at all. He closed his eyes tight.

“I was lying when I said sooner or later. I meant now,“ He spoke under his breath, “I love you.”

A/N yes, this chapter was UBER short. Like really short :l . I’m sorry! But, I had to leave it there, this cliffhanger is so common, I couldn’t resist! :DD

Even though most of us know Kagome’s response, and if you don’t you’re clueless… I’m in the process of drawing a picture for this scene when they kiss c: and I hope I’ll have it up by tonight or tomorrow after school.

Comment, and thanks for readngg :DD <3
