“No! Kagome-sama! I refuse!” Yelled a short middle-aged man; He lean and in shape, though balding slightly. He wore a simple white haori, with blue, loose legged hakama pants. On his hip was a well taken care of katana and wakizashi. “I refuse to take sides with that youkai! They can't be trusted!”
“But, Hayate-sensei! Inuyasha is good. I trust him with my life! So stop bickering! He's helping us whether you agree or not!” She told him with a huff.
Damn. Kagome is getting pissed…Inuyasha thought.
“I refuse, Kagome-sama. That thing is a monster. He can't be trusted. Those demons have taken everything away from me!” Hayate hollered.
“I'm right here, you know… Not exactly deaf…” Inuyasha cut in, running his claws through his unruly bangs.
“Shut up, you! You demons killed my wife! And with that fucking barrier in the way, I can never see my daughter again! You demons ruined everything… You all deserve to die.” He whispered angrily with his teeth gritted.
“Well, I'm not exactly a fan of you humans either. Anything that ain't human, to you people, is nothing. And I'm not the one who made you lose your family. So quit griping and fuck off!” Inuyasha growled. Looking at the man square in the eye, he continued to growl until the man lowered his head.
“Forgive me for my rudeness.” He said emotionlessly.
“Feh.” Inuyasha snorted.
“Come on. We're late enough to the council meeting already.” Kagome led him by the hand into a long room. There were pillows arranged into two rows with one at the head, many man and woman were already sitting down at there designated seats, none were as young as Kagome. She kneeled down at one not too far from the head; Inuyasha took a seat next to her. He was surprised that they were sitting in such a high seat. Looking up, he saw the Hayate man take a seat toward the end of the row.
“Who was that, Hayate guy?” He whispered.
“He's my sensei. Now hush.” She whispered back.
Glancing at the corner of his eye, he stared at Kagome. She wore a dark blue kimono of silk with white roses on it. Around the edges, light blue faded in. The obi was a simple white, tied in a butterfly style of cho. Her hair was in a simple bun with an ornament holding it up. Every time he glanced at her, his mouth went dry; she looked absolutely beautiful.
The man at the head cleared his throat, “Now that everyone is hear, shall we begin?” He croaked. He was an ugly old man dressed in normal priest attire with the stupid hat. Kagome had told him earlier that his name was Katsu. Inuyasha thought he smelled like old cabbage.
“As you all know. We had an unexpected event happed. We are here to discuss the matters and many more.” His voice was dull and boring, causing Inuyasha to yawn.
“Now, young man,” he motioned to Inuyasha, “Tells us about yourself.”
Inuyasha blushed, embarrassed that he was caught is mid-yawn. All eyes were upon him, some glares while others sparkled with curiosity. He blushed even deeper. He felt Kagome nudge him.
“Well, uh… Hi. My name is Inuyasha. I'm a inu-hanyou… And I'm from five hundred years in the past… I'm sorry; I'm not really sure what to say.” He stammered. He felt quite weird in the cramped room.
“It's quite alright, Inuyasha.” Katsu smile, causing him face to double up in wrinkle. The hanyou had to suppress a laugh. “Well then, Kagome-san. Will you tell everyone what plans you have in mind for your friend?”
Kagome smiled as she got up to stand. “Morning everyone. Well last night, Inuyasha and I were discussing about the things, like the war and barrier, and we think we have an idea that could break the barrier.” This got the groups attention.
Kagome began to walk around as she continued, “On Inuyasha's blade, the tetsusaiga, there is an attack that destroys barriers. I've seen it work before, and it's pretty handy. As you know, we have tried many things to destroy the barrier and none of them have worked. So I was, I mean, we were thinking that maybe something demonic could destroy it.” She finished. Her eyes scanned over everyone, waiting for a reply.
“Do you think it could work?” asked an elderly woman hopefully.
“Well we won't know, unless we try. So before we can do anything, we need to vote.” Kagome replied.
“What makes you think that that hanyou can do anything?” scoffed someone. She saw some people nod in agreement.
“Why should we trust him?” said another.
“If it wasn't for him, we would all be dead. I trust Inuyasha, and you should trust my judgment. Have I ever wronged any of you?” She huffed. Many people began to mutter at this.
“Alright, Kagome-san, sit back down.” Katsu ordered, than said to the council, “Now, all those in favor of one more try at destroying the barrier, say I.” A chorus of I's was spoken.
“And all those against?” Only a few replied to this one.
“Then it's agreed, this afternoon, we will let Inuyasha have a try at the barrier.” He bellowed, “Now onto other matters.”

“Thank Kami, we're finally out of there! It was so suffocating it there; I don't understand how you can stand it, Kagome.” Inuyasha said when out of ear distance to the council. He was relieved that the meeting was finally over; he didn't know how much longer he could last.
“Oh, come on, Inuyasha. It wasn't that bad, was it?” She chuckled.
“Yes, it was. All the old people just talked about such little matters. It was like there wasn't even a battle yesterday. Your people are so nonchalant.” He said with a stretch.
“Yeah, you are right about that.” She mused.
They walked in silence for a little while, enjoying each others company. The village was peaceful; the day was calm and the village was lively. Children played in the streets and every one went on with there day to day duties. Looking at the sky, it was a clear day with only a few clouds. There was no sun though, yet it you could still feel its heat as it melted the snow.
“Y-you look nice it that kimono, Kagome.” Inuyasha said, breaking the silence. She looked over at him to see that a blush tainted his cheeks.
“Thanks, it used to be mom's. She gave it to me for a present for entering high school. I like to wear my nice clothes to the meetings.” She said this with a kind of sadness.
“She must be proud of you, Kagome. You've been so strong these last three years, haven't you?” He said looking into her eyes.
“Yeah, I guess I have…”
“All these people respect you. It's kind of surprising. Who would of thought that you would become a leader of your people.” He mused.
“Hey, don't sound so surprised. Nobody knew what demons were or what to do. What else could I do? Sit by and watch. I had to take a stand. If I didn't, who know what would have happened.” She said.
“I guess your right…” he whispered, his ears drooped.
“Inuyasha, what's wrong?” She asked placing a hand onto his shoulder.
“I should have been there, Kagome. None of this would of happened if I was there. I should have been there by your side protecting you like I promised.” He looked away from her concerning stare.
“Inuyasha, but I did okay. It was hard without you, but I got through it; I had to be strong.” She smiled.
He let out a sigh, “I guess your right.”
“And besides,” she said happily holding his arm, “your with me now, and I couldn't ask for anything more.”
“Keh…” He blushed.

A group of people stood at the edge of the border, waiting in anticipation. More and more people were leaving the safety of the village to see if the hanyou could break the barrier.
Inuyasha looked at the crowd nervously. He feared that he would fail them. All day people spoke to him about how exited there were for him to break the barrier. What if he failed them?
He scratched the back of his leg with his foot nervously.
“Inuyasha, it will be okay, I know you can do it.” Kagome assured him. She was worried for him, he looked so nervous. “I'm sure it will be fine.”
“What if it isn't, Kagome? All of your people are counting on me and I don't want to fail them. The red tetsusaiga has failed before, what if it fails this time?” He said.
“I guess we'll have to find out.” She whispered.
Inuyasha left Kagome and walked up to the edge of the crevice, the barrier was on the other side. It seemed to him that the crevice reached around the whole city. Looking down into it, he couldn't see the bottom, only while fog.
“Kagome, come here.” He ordered.
“What is it?” She asked coming up to him.
“I think I'll use the Kongousouha. If I try to slice that thing with the red tetsusaiga, I'd have nowhere to land.” He told her.
“That's understandable. Do you want me to stare here?”
“Do what you want.” he said drawing his blade. He laughed a bit when he heard the surprise gasps of the crowd.
“Everything we shot at went back. Inuyasha, what if it ricochets back?” She asked as his blade changed and turned to adamant.
“My barrier will protect everyone just fine.”
Lifting tetsusaiga up over his head, Inuyasha swiped in down with a cry, “Kongousouha!” A barrage of diamond spears shot from the blade straight toward the barrier… and went right through.
Everyone gasped and stood in awe as the barrier rippled, then nothing. It went back to normal. “Damn it.” Inuyasha cursed. Changing the form of his blade, it began to glow a crimson red.
“Guess I got to do this the hard way…” He said before he leapt towards the barrier. He swiped his red sword at the barrier, and went through it, plunging into darkness.
