Kagome's past has pushed her to succeed in her later adult life.
Living in a world that still showed discrimination, she still
refuses to let that incident shape how she sees people. Wanting to
help those around her, she ends up hiring a certain hanyou as her
assistant.

Chapter 1 - Yes, Boss.
Ten years later…
“You don't have to do that,” Kagome said with a bright
smile while she took the small stack of papers being handed to
her.
“I know I don't have to,” Shiori giggled back.
“But you've shown me so much kindness, and have helped me
help myself. So please let me treat you to lunch.”
“It's your last day, Shiori, shouldn't I be the one buying
you lunch?” Kagome chuckled slightly. Setting the paperwork
on the side of her desk, she pushed herself onto her feet. Her
heels clicking against the marble floors as she walked over to her
coat hanger.
“Screw tradition,” Shiori held Kagome's office door
open. “I would have never been able to follow my dreams if it
hadn't been for you giving me a real chance at life. Seriously,
we're going to try the café down the road and I'm buying. End
of story.”
“Who taught you how to be so forward?” Kagome teased
while walking out the door.
“You, Boss.”
“Let's go somewhere else. A half-demon works here,” the
elder lady hissed to what Kagome assumed was her husband. She
forced herself to bite her tongue as she reached for Shiori's hand
and squeezed it comfortingly.
“Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't see that,” the man replied.
“Come on, we don't want our food tainted.”
Seeing her friend and employee's face grow sad instantly, Kagome
spun around quickly. Holding her finger out at them accusingly, she
wrinkled her nose in distaste at their views.
“Excuse me,” she announced loudly bringing the
attention of the surrounding customers. “Do you have a
problem with half demons?” Kagome demanded angrily. The
couple stared at her in shock not realizing their conversation had
been overheard. Not getting an answer, Kagome's eyes narrowed.
“Tainted food, right? That is what you said.
Right? You know what? You should probably leave so you don't
taint the building with your bigotry.”
“W-why I never,” the elder woman stuttered slightly.
Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment while her husband stood up
trying to pull her along.
“Never what?” Kagome taunted. “Never
learned basic respect for living beings? Never decided to educate
yourself enough to realize that half demons are actually superior
to humans scientifically?”
The man didn't let his wife respond, the scene had attracted more
attention as every being in the restaurant stared in shock at the
scene that had just played out. Seeing the couple leaving the store
and rushing across the street to the car, the building erupted in
applause.
“Thank you, Kagome,” Shiori hugged her friend not
caring the few tears that escaped her lids.
Kagome smiled and hugged her back. “Don't thank me, it was
the right thing to do.”
Golden eyes watched from behind the register, his arms crossed in
front of his chest and his eyes fixated on the woman consoling the
slightly shorter half demon.
Maybe not a half dog demon like him, but still a half demon.
He had heard the whole thing, even before the woman named Kagome
had gotten louder due to her rage. Her scent told him she didn't do
it for the praise, she did it because she cared for the girl.
