What to Say - What not to Say

In an effort to regroup her defenses after allowing her self to be so vulnerable, Kagura got up and began to dress. While tying her yukata, she glanced down at Sango. The demon slayer lay on the ground on her side, one arm under her head and a thoughtful expression on her face.

“Get up, you lazy bones,” Kagura quipped. “While you lie there thinking, anything could be happening to your precious brother.”

Sango flushed at Kagura's words. How dare she infer that she did not care about finding Kohaku. She frowned angrily and shot Kagura a hot look as she got up and dressed. The wind sorceress grinned and winked at her, and Sango shook her head.

The women put their hair up, before Sango dug in her sack for some emergency food she that kept there. She offered some to Kagura, but the wind sorceress waved it away. Although Kagura did accept some water from her water bottle.

“There is a system of caves not far from here,” Kagura said. “Kohaku and I have used them on occasion, and when we are separated we often meet there. On the off chance he has not been kidnapped, killed, or does not want to be found, he may be there.”

“Why didn't you say that before?” Sango replied. “Lead on, let's not waste any more time.”

The fabric of her yukata swished, as Kagura stalked haughtily into the forest, Sango in her wake with her hand on the pommel of her sword. The forest grew denser, and they pushed their way passed bushes and trees.

“You know,” Kagura said casually. “I would never have thought you and Kagome would be together. I thought you had a thing for the monk.”

Sango's mouth formed a thin line and her eyes hardened.
