The Prophecy

Chapter 6

Inuyasha led the three girls around the castle to the seamstress's rooms, the girls each secretly excited for what would happen. He knocked on the door and yelled, “Oi, Moroiemi! Open up! I've got a specialty for ya!”

The three girls looked at each other before turning back towards the door as it opened; in the doorway stood a slim, tall and pale woman. Her hair was pitch black and completely straight, her eyes were a pale iridescent color that shone in the torch light and seemed to change colors. On her forehead was a red dot, making her resemble a black widow.

“Why, hello Prince Inuyasha, to what do I owe this pleasure?” she asked in an airy tone, a small smile quirking the corners of her lips.

“I've gotta have outfits made for these three,” he said, indicating the three girls that stood behind him.

“I see,” she said, her eyes scanning the three. “Please come in, come in.” Inuyasha allowed the girls to precede him into the room. The room was large and filled with all kinds of bolt d of fabric. The girls stared in awe at all of the wondrous and beautiful fabric. “How many would you like me to make?” she asked the girls.

“However many you feel like making. We don't want to inconvenience you,” Kagome answered as she examined a red piece of fabric with autumn colored leaves on it.

“It is my job. I live to make people happy with my cloth,” she answered, surprised at Kagome's answer. “I'll just surprise you then.”

“Alright!” Kagome agreed happily.

“Now, just pick out which fabrics you like and then I'll get your measurements.” The girls went around the room, picking out fabrics that hey liked. Moroiemi and Inuyasha stood to the side, watching in amusement.

When the girls had finished picking out their fabrics, they each had around nine different ones. Moroiemi stepped up and quickly took their measurements with some of her thread. “Alright, you will receive these at the end of the day, now out with you so that I can get these started!” She shooed them out, and the foursome walked away down the hall. They were surprised by a cry of `Inuyasha!' and a blur of reddish orange that slammed into said Prince's chest.

“Oi, what'dya want, runt?” he asked, pulling the thing away by its tail to reveal a little boy with brilliant green eyes, reddish orange hair, a puffy fox tail and paws.

“You're back! When'd you get back? Why'd you come back early? Did something happen? Who're they—”

“Shippou, shut up!” Inuyasha cut off the small boy. “These are Kagome, Sango, and Rin. They're going to be staying here for a while, so don't go bugging them, alright?” he asked, dropping the boy.

The boy named Shippou flipped and landed on his little paws before running up to Kagome and jumping at her chest. She automatically caught him and smiled down at him. “Aw, you're so cute!” she squealed before proceeding to hug him to her and pet his tail.

“Hi, I'm Shippou! How long are you staying, Kagome?” he asked, purring lightly with the feel of her petting his tail.

“I don't know how long we're staying, but it'll probably be for a while,” she answered him.

“Will you play with me while you're here?” he asked, his energy running low from her calming touch and her sweet scent.

“Of course, Shippou,” Kagome whispered as he finally fell asleep. She cuddled him to her chest as he slept, following after the others as they made their way away from the seamstress's rooms.

Inuyasha watched Kagome from the corner of his eye as she handled the young fox demon. `She'd make a good mother,' he thought, but quickly dismissed the thought. `They're not staying here, no matter how much I want her to…' Kagome looked up and smiled at him, and that's when he knew that if given the chance to mate her, he wouldn't pass it up. And that's when he allowed himself to hope.

----------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------

It had been a couple months, passing Rin's eighteenth birthday, since they'd arrived at the castle. Sango, Rin and Kagome were all being trained by the best in their specialties. Kagome was being tutored by an old woman named Kaede and was getting quite good at controlling her powers. She could create small barriers and energy blasts. Who knew that she'd had this power for most of her life?

But now she was sitting by herself in the gardens, sitting on a bench, and puzzling over her confused and frazzled feelings. `How can I be so attracted to him in such a short amount of time?!' she yelled at herself for the umpteenth time. She leaned her elbows on her knees and rested her chin in her hands.

“What's got you worried, Bitch?” a voice asked from behind her. She jumped and looked behind her to see Inuyasha, his gaze curious.

“Nothing, really,” she lied with a sigh.

“Liar,” he said as he sat down next to her.

She sighed again. “I don't really know how to explain it,” she said, blushing at his close proximity. Inuyasha took notice of her blush and embarrassed scent and smirked.

“Try,” he ordered as he leaned towards her.

She sighed, knowing how stubborn he was. “I'm confused,” she finally confessed.

“What about?”

“The way I'm feeling, I don't understand it. I'm confused and I don't know what to do,” she said, trying to be as vague as possible.

“What is this feeling for?” he asked, hoping beyond hope that she cared for him as much as he'd grown to care for her. He knew that it was wishful thinking and that she didn't belong in this world, but that didn't stop his heart from hoping.

Kagome blushed and didn't answer. “Come on, Bitch, you can tell me,” he said softly as he leaned closer to her, the word that she normally would have blown up over now held an affectionate quality.

Her blush increased but she didn't move and suddenly found herself saying, “I don't understand how I can be falling in love with you in such a short amount of time.”

Inuyasha stared at her, surprised. `She's falling in love with me?' he thought. He'd just expected her to say that she was confused about her attraction to him. He stared at her in wonder and almost gasped when he realized something.

Kagome froze as she realized what she said. Her face disappeared in a sea of red and she stared down at her hands in her lap. She was sweating and wringing her hands in nervousness, afraid of what Inuyasha's reaction would be. She jumped when she felt a clawed hand on her chin, drawing her gaze up to her half demon's. He smirked at her before closing his eyes and lowering his head to place his lips lightly on hers. Kagome gasped at the sensation of his lips massaging hers and he took advantage of her gasp to deepen the kiss. Kagome closed her eyes, melting into his passionate kiss.

Inuyasha was in heaven. She tasted just as sweet as she smelled; her lips were soft, and she was kissing him back! He'd been waiting for this moment from the first time that he'd held her, felt her softness contrasting his roughness.

Kagome lifted her hands and buried them in his hair, brushing against the bases of his ears. Inuyasha shuddered at the feeling, tilting her head back for a better angle with a hand at the nape of her neck.

He pulled back and rested his forehead against hers as they regained their breath. He opened his eyes to stare into her deep blue pools. “I'm falling in love with you too, Kagome,” he said softly. Kagome smiled a brilliant smile and rubbed her nose against his. They were quiet for a couple moments, just staring into each others eyes before Inuyasha spoke again. “Kagome?” he asked softly.

“Yeah?” she answered, brought back from almost drowning in his molten amber pools.

“Can I court you?”

“Do you really need to ask, puppy?” she asked with a light giggle.

Inuyasha blushed at the name. “Yeah, well, I just wanted to make sure that it was okay with you,” he mumbled.

Kagome chuckled and gave him a slight peck on the lips. “It's fine, Inu,” she whispered, fingering the fur on the back of his left ear.

“That's very distracting, you know,” he told her, leaning his head into her hand.

“Why do you think I'm doing it?” she asked teasingly.

“Keh. You know, there're a few things that you need to know about courting.”

“Like?”

Inuyasha smiled, having been slightly nervous that she wouldn't want to court him if she knew that courting a demon, even a half-demon, was much more complicated than human courting. “Like, I'm going to be extremely protective of you and will want to provide for you, food, clothes, warmth, that sort of thing because it's in my nature as a dog demon.”

“Like you haven't already been doing those things,” Kagome commented, rolling her eyes. They both chuckled, getting up from the bench, holding hands, their finders intertwined, and headed towards the mess hall for dinner, oblivious to the prying eyes.

“Finally, it sure took them a fucking long time to get together,” Sango said from behind the bush that was across and downwind from the bench the Prince and Priestess had been sitting on.

“Well, you can't really blame Kagome, you know how she is. She was obviously confused and scared, but it seems like she's gotten over it,” Rin pointed out.

“All that matters now is that they're together,” Ayame said, standing up and brushing off her pants. “What say we go get something to eat and tease the two of them `til they resemble beets?”

“More like tomatoes,” Rin giggled, instantly agreeing. The three set off, picking up Miroku and Kouga on their way, informing them of what had just transpired along with their master plan.

The five-some made their way to the mess hall and quickly found Kagome by herself at a table, looking towards the kitchen. Looking in that direction, the Nosy Nancies saw Inuyasha heading towards her with two plates of food.

They made their way to the couple, surrounding them on all sides as they sat down by them. Sango sat next to Kagome with Rin and Ayame across from them; and Miroku sat next to Inuyasha and Kouga sat across from the two, sitting next to his mate. Each had a sly smirk on, the girls focusing on Kagome and the guys focused on Inuyasha.

“So…” Sango started, leaning her head on her hand as she sat sideways on the bench.

“How was it?” Rin asked, placing her hand in her hands as well and leaning towards her friend from across the table.

“How was what?” Kagome asked with a blush.

“Is he a good kisser?” Sango asked with a grin.

“Sango!” Kagome whined. The three interrogators looked at her with expressions that said `well?' Kagome sighed and answered, “Yes.” The grins on her friends' faces grew wider.

“Details,” Rin demanded.

“Oh, it was wonderful,” Kagome confessed with a dreamy look on her face. “It was soft and passionate and everything I could have hoped for.”

“He's told you what courting entails, yes?” Ayame asked, concerned that their Prince had left out those important details, as he was known for doing.

Kagome nodded and said, “Yeah, he told me that he'll be very protective and will want to provide for me.”

Ayame nodded. “He also intends to make you his mate in the long run, as most demons only ever have one courting, though our previous King, Toga was an exception to that when his first mate died.” Kagome blinked at that before smiling slightly, liking the idea of being Inuyasha's.

----------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------

“So, Inuyasha, courting one of the girls from another dimension, how does it feel?” Miroku asked with a perverted smile on his face.

“Fuck off, Miroku,” the half-demon growled.

“Come now, Inuyasha, surely you're going to make her your mate sometime soon,” Kouga prodded, smiling as well.

“I will when she's ready,” Inuyasha growled at the wolf.

“What kind of man are you? Are you going into the submissive now?” Kouga asked, appalled. “She doesn't seem like the dominant sort. Why not just dominate her?”

Inuyasha snarled and launched at Kouga across the table, his eyes flashing red, claws wrapping around the wolf's neck. Inuyasha lifted him off of the ground, his pupils turning a teal color, and dark royal blue jagged stripes appearing on his face, over his cheekbones.

All noise had stopped in the mess hall and everyone stared wide eyed at the spectacle. The demons in the hall instantly stiffened at the changed scent of the Prince. He no longer smelt of a half-demon, but instead like a full one. Kagome sprang up and climbed over the table, dodging Miroku's attempt to catch her as she rushed over to the angered half-demon.

“Inuyasha,” she spoke quietly in a soothing voice, resting a hand on the arm that held the struggling wolf demon. Inuyasha turned his gaze to his court.

His gaze softened at her worried expression. He turned back to the sweating and struggling wolf demon in his grasp and spoke in a low rumbling growl, “You would do well to keep your mouth shut, wolf.” He tossed him into a wall, his head hitting it with a crack, and he slid down to sit on the ground, his chin resting on his chest.

Inuyasha looked to his intended and saw her shiver slightly. His gaze softened and he reached out to touch her cheek lightly. “Don't fear me,” he spoke, his voice deeper and scratchier than normal.

Kagome shook her head before embracing him and whispering into his chest, “Never.” He hugged her back, sinking his nose into her hair and breathing in deeply. His muscles slowly relaxed and the humans and demons in the room saw his claws return to a shorter length. The demons smelt the difference in his scent as it changed back to his normal mixture of human and demon. His shoulders slumped and he leaned away to look down at Kagome.

“Sorry,” he said softly, surprising everyone in the hall. Where had their brash Prince gone? Prince Inuyasha never apologized! “I'm sorry if I frightened you.”

Kagome smiled up at him, warming his heart. “The only way you could ever scare me is if you suddenly liked to wear pink frilly dresses,” she said with a laugh.

Inuyasha chuckled as well before leading her out of the hall, intent on explaining what had just happened. As soon as they left, the mess hall burst into chatter.

“What the hell just happened?” Sango asked while looking wide eyed in the direction that the two had gone in.

“That was Inuyasha's demon. Though, I've only ever seen it come out when he's without his sword and in a life threatening situation,” Miroku answered.

“His demon?” Rin asked, confused.

“Since Inuyasha is a half demon, he has human blood and demon blood in him,” Ayame explained, “What you just saw was his demon blood overwhelming him and taking control.”

“Why did it come out now? He wasn't in danger,” Sango said with curiosity.

“Kouga insulted Kagome and Inuyasha's honor,” Miroku told her. “He was defending his intended mate.”

Sango and Rin nodded and wondered what the future would hold for their friend.
