"Well?"
"No. I'm scared, Inuyasha. What if the well seals itself after the purification?" Kagome was holding the jewel in her hands. Miroku and Sango were walking towards them. Miorku and Sango had gotten married not very long ago. A month has past. All of them were secretly worrying that they might not see Inuyasha and Kagome again.
"Keh! Remember Midoriko told us we could wish for whatever we want?" Inuyasha reminded her.
"Yes but-"
"Why don't we move to Kagome's time to purify the jewel?" Miroku suggested.
Inuyasha snorted and folded his arms into his haori. "Whatever."
"What about Lady Kaede? Who's going to take care of her?" Kagome's concern for the old miko could be understood. Kaede-sama had been a grandmother to her ever since Kagome came through the well.
"The old hag can take care of herself very well without you." Inuyasha retorted.
"Nevermind me, child. Just go ahead with ye plans. I'm not young anymore. It's time fer me to retire anyway." Kaede-sama was going to another vilager's hut when she heard their conversation.
"But-" Kagome started.
"Damn straight, old hag."
"Osuwari." Kagome commanded. Inuyasha dropped to the floor with a loud curse.
"What did I do?!"
"Nothing. I just felt like osuwari-ing you." Kagome gave him a smile as he hit the ground again. Looking back up at Kaede, "are you sure?"
"Yes child, I'm perfectly sure. Now I'll be along to Shina's house. Make sure ye not here when I come back!" Kaede winked and went off.
Kagome sighed. Recalling their meet-up with Kouga, she was feeling terribly guilty.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Yo Kagome..." Kouga trailed off. "You mated mutt-face?"
"Err... Yes. But we need your jewel shards."
"Why Kagome..."
"I've only treated you as a friend and nothing else, Kouga. The one I like is Inuyasha. It'll never change."
Kouga's sad expression didn't last long. Grinning he winked at Kagome. "I know."
"You knew?!?! Then why-"
"Osuwari."
"You fucking bitch.."
"Osuwari."
"Please Kouga. We've defeated Naraku and we really really need the shards. I need to restore it..."
"And I'll never see you again?"
"Of course you will. We're still friends, aren't we?"
Kouga sighed. He bend down and took out the shards, flinching at the pain. He gave them to Kagome's out-strteched hands. Before he left, Kouga gave Kagome a parting kiss on the cheeks. "Goodbye, Kagome."
Kagome was shocked but was rather surprised when Inuyasha didn't make any move." Goodbye Kouga." With that, Kouga turned and ran, much slower since he had no more shards. Turning around Kagome smiled at Inuyasha. "Thank you."
"For what?"
"For not beating Kouga to pulp."
"Keh." Inuyasha blushed and walk away.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Kagome! Let's go!" Sango called.
"Oops, I'm sorry! Hey wait up!" Kagome started run after the others.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"It can't work!" Kagome was frustrated. After 20 tries, the jewel remained the same. There was no sign it had been purified.
"Do you think we've been had?" Sango asked around.
"You can't blame the Shikon no Tama. After all, Kagome, your time has alot of gases and fumes." Miroku said while fanning the air infront of him. "This place sure is stuffy."
Kagome rolled her eyes. "Well, what does purifying the Shikon no Tama has to do with the gases and fumes?"
"Well purifying has everything to do with cleasning." Miroku toyed with the chains of the jewel.
Suddenly the whole place became dark. The Shikon no Tama rose into the air and something spoke from within it. "Make the wish from within the well. Where all of you are connected. Whichever side you use doesn't matter." Then it faded and the room was bright once more.
Doing what was need to be done, they soon found themselves on the bottom of the well of Kagome's era. Everyone got into their positions. The purification started. At first, the well was abandoned, and cold. It warmed up and the jewl in-between Miroku and Kagome's hands rose into middair. It turn circles like the Earth's rotation before it finally stopped. The pinklish glow in it became brighter and brighter until it finally burst. Their bodies glowed in the sacred light. A certain soul came out and the light dissipated.
"Thank you. I've joined your souls together. From now on, you'll live like siblings. All of you have the same wish, and that was to have eternal peace. I'm sorry to say that I cannot gurantee that. But I'll grant the deepest desires of your heart. Your hearts will beat as one. All of you will live as long as each other. However, if one dies, all will perish as well. You'll never be lonely again because you have each other. I'll let the well remain open.
Live your live fully and do not disappoint me." With that, Midoriko's soul vanished.
The now-dormant Shikon no Tama rests in Kagome's hands. One tear dripped from Kagome's cheek onto the Shikon no Tama while she whispered something only Inuyasha could hear: "thank you, Midoriko."
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"I'm nervous." Kagome rubbed her sweaty hands against her wedding dress as Sango and the others got her ready.
"You don't have to be, Kagome. Just be yourself." Sango assured her.
It had taken months for the wedding to be arranged properly. Inuyasha had proposed to her and everything was ready. Inuyasha left everything to her preparation. Kagome had always wished for a more westernized wedding and since Mrs. Higurashi had no qualms about it, Kagome had gotten everything ready with the help of Sango and some of her friends. All of them have been quite helpful and besides for some financial problems, Kagome was perfectly happy. Kagome didn't want a big wedding. She just need her friends and some close relatives. She slipped on the gloves and waited for the make-up stylists to get ready. Finally it was the veil moment. Mrs. Higurashi came in and put it on for her.
Mrs. Higurashi's eyes were filled with tears of joy. "I finally have the chance to see my own daughter get married." Smiling, she walked out of the room.
In just a few minutes, Inuyasha would be here to bring her to the church. Sitting on the chair with her legs twitching with excitement, Kagome prayed that everything will be alright. She felt guilty for making Inuyasha wear shoes and all that. But Kaede had taught her to make a concealment charm and Inuyasha's ears, claws and fangs were hidden. Kagome couldn't help thinking how good he'd look in the tuxedo and shoes. Blushing, Kagome looked up at the time. Two more minutes.
The door bell ring and Kagome's head jerk up. Smiling, Kagome stood up and got ready to go. Seeing Inuyasha like this wasn't the first time but somehow it's different from the balls she had been to with him. She feels like the real princess now.
"Come on, wench it's time to go." Inuyasha came in with a bouquet of flowers in hand. Miroku was behind him, complete with a couple of boys from her class.
Frowning a little, Kagome hook onto Inuyasha's arm. Mrs. Higurashi was carrying Ino and Suzuki in the living room. Kagome gave her children a quick goodbye and was off.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Higurashi Kagome, do you promise to live through thick and thin with Inu no Taisho Inuyasha, to take care of him when he's ill, and live through life with him?" The priest asked.
"I do." Kagome smiled.
"Inu no Taisho Inuyasha, do you promise to live through thick and thin with Higurashi Kagome, to take care of her when she's ill, and live through life with her?"
"Keh, of course."
"Then I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride." With that, the priest closed his book and walked away.
Inuyasha stared at Kagome, and Kagome stared back at him. Without a second thought, Kagome flung herself against him, crying tears of happiness. Inuyasha leaned away and planted a soft kiss on her lips. Kagome sighed happily. "Mrs. Inu no Taisho" Inuyasha muttered.
The crowd began to walk away. No one actually noticed. No one noticed the man with a high ponytail staring at them in a corner.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"Whose idea was this?" Kagome asked again.
"Your mother. She thought it might be a good idea to have a banquet as a memorial." Inuyasha winced as his tie began choking him.
"I don't mind you looking like a slog." Kagome commented, but paused when Inuyasha shot her a glower.Kagome yawned then gasped as Inuyasha grasped her.
"You're tired." He growled. "Damn, I knew this was a bad idea!"
"No-"
"You're still weak from the child-birth. Jineji said so. He made sure I wouldn't make you tired."
"Alright alright, I'm fine." Kagome muttered.
"Mr. and Mrs. Taisho, it's time for you to go on stage." A waited informed them.
"Alright-"
"No, can we cancel this?" Inuyasha interrupted.
The waiter look at him like he was crazy. "He's just tired. Ignore him." Kagome smiled at him ang gestured for the young waiter to go out. He nodded and bowed. "Come on, let's go." Kagome started dragging Inuyasha out of the room.
~*~*~*~*~
"Let's invite the newly weds; Mr. and Mrs. Taisho!" The MC of the night shouted through the speakers.
Inuyasha and Kagome walked in, both with a smile on their faces. Waiters began letting out dry ice and the whole room feels like on paradise. Everyone clapped and cheered. An un-invited guest stood in a corner, with his wife smiling at them, and their child babbling to their mother.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Now I'm tired, Inuyasha." Kagome yawned. The banquet was over and they were on their way to the hotel room. Suddenly, Inuyasha carried her bridal style and shoot up the stairs.
They found a family of wolf-youkai outside their door. "K-K-Kouga?" Kagome stammmered.
"Hi Kagome. I think you've met. This is Ayame, and our son, Sanjo." Kouga smiled.
"Why didn't I see you here before?" Kagome asked.
"I did come over to the shrine before, Kagome. You were always asleep."
"Here's our wedding gift for you." Ayame held out a small box.
Kagome opened it and gasped at the lovely diamond earrings. "Oh how can I ever thank you? Are there any other youkai still alive?" Kagome was suddenly curious.
"There's Sesshoumaru the tai-youkai, and Kagura, his mate. Other than that, I can't find any others that are related to mutt-face. I doubt, for his attitude he has many friends anyway."
The Inuyasha, who had been quiet, yelled out, "You mangy wolf! I'll maim you one day, see if I don't."
"Inuyasha, be nice!"
"Nevermind, we're used to it. Aren't we, KOUGA?" Ayame gave a smile then started pinching Kouga.
"We got to go. It's late and Kouga needs to work tomorrow. Good night, Kagome, and Inuyasha." Ayame greeted and started off.
Kagome sighed. It's just a whole new gateway to dream world... But she didn't realise it was only the start of the nightmares...
