Chapter 2
"Sango! Kagome! Come on in I think there's enough decorations out there!" Sango's mother yelled out the back window and into the garden where Sango and Kagome were putting up lights. "Okay mom!" Both girls answered in unison.
They were decorating for their birthday party tonight. They had agreed to have their parties the same day because on Sango's birthday twelve years ago she and her mother had found Kagome half dead in the forest near the village were they lived. So Sango, four years old then, had helped her mother nurse Kagome back to health. They were so happy when they saw Kagome was going to live because Sango had always wanted a younger sister and her mother wanted another child, which she thought she was never going to have because her husband died when Sango was two.
When Kagome woke up after a week of being with Sango and her mother she had considered them her family. Kagome knew they weren't her real family but she couldn't remember anything before that. She did know there was something important about the neclace Sango said they found with her. Sometimes she would think about what it could be but she usually just pushed it to the back of her mind. It had nothing to do with her life now but sometimes she just had to wonder.
"Hey Sango, Kagome! Fancy meeting you here." A male voice startled her out of her thoughts. "By the way happy sixteenth and fiveteenth birthdays."
"Hi Miroku" Sango said. "Your just in time to help us cook."
"Now Sango," Miroku replied "do you remember the last time you tryed to get me to cook." Sango made an extremely grossed out face and shivered. "Okay you can set the table while me and Kagome cook."
"Better yet!" Kagome piped in false excitment in her voice,"You could wait out front so you aren't tempted to do anything that'll get you slapped!"
"MIROKU!" Sango screamed as she slapped him.
"Too late now I guess." Kagome said with a shrug.
"How could you do that and still call yourself a monk!" Sango yelled at Miroku
"You know Sango I don't think he's ever called himself a monk when he's near you. Wonder why?" Kagome put a thoughtful face on then burst out laughing. "Alright time to get this party started." After Kagome turned she heard a loud slapping noise. "Before Sango has to kill you Miroku!"
There was at least three quarters of the village at the party. Admittly it was a small village but there was at least fifty people there. It used to be bigger when it was a demon slayer village but since most of the demons moved to the Western Lands were Seshomaru ruled almost all of the slayers retiered.
Kagome and Sango were so happy were so happy when they saw what they got for their birthdays. Sango, who was studying to be a demon slayer herself , got a gaint boomerang that was used by some of the most killed slayers and a slayer outfit that she loved. Also she got a fire cat that she named Kirara. Kagome, who could never make up her mind on what she wanted, was given mostly money and clothes.
It was almost midnight when every finally left even though most of the last half hour was spent trying to explain to Miroku why it wasn't proper for him to sleep over for the night. They finally setteled that Miroku could stay until the end of the traditional birthday story. They were all sitting on the floor in the living room (because there was no way Sango's mother would let Miroku into the girls' bedroom and for good reasons) when Sango's mother asked what story they wanted.
"The Silver Gaurdian!" Both of the girls yelled.
"I'm suprised you two don't have it memorized by now." Sango's mother said.
"Oh, we do it's just better when you tell it." Kagome replied.
"The Silver Gaurdian? Never heard of it." Miroku said
"How could you not have heard of it Miroku!?" Sango yelled "It's one of the best legends there is!"
"Oh do you mean the one about the gaurdian that's suppose to live in the forest? It's okay, not my favorite though." Miroku said
"Well, you don't have to stay here and listen then. You know the way home." Sango countered.
"Now don't get me wrong Sango!" Miroku said with a bead of sweat on his face at the thought of being slapped, yet again, by Sango."I didn't mean it was inbearable. In fact I think I like it more already."
"That's better." Sango said with a smile "Go ahead mom tell it."
"Okay." she took a breath to start when Miroku cut in "You know..."
"Miroku don't interupt mom was getting ready to tell the story." Kagome scolded.
"Okay mom it's time to begin, hopefully with no interuptions" Sango gave a warning glare to Miroku.
"I didn't say anything!" Miroku defened himself.
"Let's just start now. Go ahead mom" Kagome said.
"It was a long time ago, here in this very land." Sango's mother started in an eerie vocie that was perfect for story telling. "There lived a horrible monster in the shape of a Giant Spider. This Spider lived off the evil that was seeping in to the world. It loved to see pure hearts turn evil. So much so in fact it often layed seeds of deceit and fear and anger in a person's heart himself. When a pure heart was too much for him, he used all his tricks on the things around it to weaken it until that heart too gives way to the evil that he feeds off.
Now the gods saw what was happening to the people and things they created. How they were being tainted until they turned on each other along with the gods that made them. They decided that they needed to send something to beat the evil that entered the world. The gods decided to send what they named The Silver Gaurdian because of the beautiful silver coat it had. The Gaurdian was made in the image of a giant dog to symbolize loyalty. And it had beautiful golden eyes to show it's beautiful golden heart and pure soul.
When the Gaurdian and the Spider finally meet they knew neither would come out a live. But they were determined to do their part, The Silver Gaurdian who was to help put the people back to rightousness and the Giant Spider who was gonig to lead the people to eternal damnation. The day came when the two were to fight to decide who would be dominate. They were evenly match which is why there is still a battle of good and evil in the world but the Silver Gaurdian gave a great gift to the people who did not give in to the temptations of the Spider, the power of the priestess, which as you know they have the power to purifiy demons, to help continue his quest to please the gods who made him.
And as I'm sure you know, he left behind the piece of sky his soul was made from in the form of a blue stone, which he made sure was given to the most powerful preistess with the purest heart. The last one said to hold it was our very own Queen Midoreko, before for she died and the stone disappeared.
The Silver Gaurdian is said to left another gift as well known as the Shikon No Tama, the Jewel of Four Souls, in case someone beside a preistess decided to fight for him. But the Spider had tainted that also so it can be used for good or evil and is imensely powerful.
So to this day the battle rages and a single person could decide the outcome!" Suddenly the door to the house was flung open and in the door way stood a man none of them expected to see and Kagome had the strangest feeling she'd seen him before.

I tryed to make this chapter longer but i know it's still very short. I also tryed paragraphes (which I SUCK at) because I know I cant write a whole chapter in one paragraph (that would be real confusing wouldn't) But anyway I wanna say a big thank you to inu-baby for my very FIRST review. Sorry to the people I didn't mention but I can only see that one reveiw (even though it said I had 3 last time I checked) Okay one more thing then I'll shut up do you think I should keep my font size at 12 (like this chapter) or 10 (like the first chapter) or maybe it doesn't make a difference I'm not sure. Anyway review I still appreciate that you tryed and maybe I'll figure out the wonderful workings of my completely screwed up my computer. :) Joy.
